Golden Chariot is a luxury train-based experience presented by KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation) and IRCTC. The Golden Chariot takes you on a fantastic journey to some of India’s premier wilderness and beach areas, along with major UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A well-curated five to seven days itinerary covers the most important tourist destination of the state. Travellers can enjoy the luxury on wheels chugging from Bangalore to Goa and back.

Guests experience the epitome of luxury and royal treatment on board. The Golden Chariot offers luxury from shifting the luggage from the hotel to the train, into the luxurious and beautiful cabins until the final departure of the guests. The train tour includes delicious food which includes a wide range of options to indulge in on board, luxury accommodation on the train and outdoor/sightseeing activity as per itinerary at destinations. The interiors of the restaurants Ruchi and Nalapa inside the train are inspired by the architecture of the Hoysala and Vijayanagara empires.

About the Train

The southern peninsula saw several dynasties with the patronage of the arts and crafts that have left an indelible mark. All this through various intricately carved temples and historical monuments to various other structures of marvellous architecture that narrate the stories of the glorious past. The carriages are named based on the theme after the various dynasties that ruled Southern India especially Karnataka over centuries. Each carriage has four cabins with a mix of twin and double occupancy. A total of 13 double occupancy cabins and 30 twin occupancy cabins and 1 cabin for the specially-abled, all self-contained, are available for guests. IRCTC’s 6-day Coastal Karnataka Package costing ₹11,090 per person takes you across the coast of  Murudeshwara, Sringeri and Udupi. The 5 nights and 6 days package starts from departure from Kacheguda Railway Station at 6:05 am. An overnight journey and you’ll reach Mangalore Central at 9:30 am the next morning. What Is The Golden Chariot Tour Package?

The Golden Chariot is a luxury tourist train that made its maiden run in 2008. It took 6 years from 2002 when the Karnataka state tourism board and the Indian Railways signed an MOU to 2008 for the train to be designed and developed. In January 2020, the Karnataka Tourism Department handed over the train to the IRCTC after sustaining heavy losses.

The Golden Chariot offers tourists a unique way to experience the scenic and historical beauty of south India. It has 18 coaches with 44 cabins. The coaches are named after the dynasties that once ruled the south:

• Adil Shahi, Bahamani
• Rashtrakuta
• Vijayanagar

Common facilities include 2 restaurants, a conference room, a lounge bar, a gym and spa. The individual cabins are elegantly furnished and equipped with state-of-the-art amenities including LCD televisions and internet connectivity. Each cabin has a private, attached bathroom. The train can carry 84 guests at a time.

Jewel Of South – 6 Nights And 7 Days Tour

 The tour starts in Bengaluru and proceeds to Mysore, Hampi, Mahabalipuram, Thanjavur, Chettinad, Cochin and Kumarakom before returning to Bengaluru.

Some of the highlights of the tour are a trip to the Mysore Palace, Hampi, the Shore Temple at Mahabalipuram, the Brihadeshvara Temple, the Athnagudi tile factory, Mattancherry Palace and a cruise along the backwaters of Kumarakom.

Glimpses Of Karnataka – 3 Nights And 4 Days Tour

The Glimpses of Karnataka tour starts and finishes in Bengaluru. En route, the train halts at Bandipur, Mysore and Hampi. Planned day trips include the Bandipur National Park, Mysore Palace and Hampi.

For both tours, meals are served onboard and day trips are organized to tourist sites at every stop.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) has given a perfect excuse to people to pack their bags and go on a holiday trip to the Queen of Hills Ooty. IRCTC is offering a seven-day package covering Bengaluru, Mysore, Ooty and Coorg.

The tour package titled ‘Bangalore- Mysore- Ooty- Coorg Tour Package Ex Lucknow’ will begin on 18 May and end on 8 June 2019. According to the IRCTC’s official website, the package, which starts at Rupees 31,900 per person for the triple occupancy, will include economy class round trip (Lucknow-Bengaluru-Lucknow) flight tickets and accommodation for six nights in three-star hotel. Breakfast and dinner is included in the package along with other services mentioned on the IRCTC website.

IRCTC launches tour packages to Thailand that begins from Kochi

Thailand is one of the most beautiful Southeast Asian countries that lures tourists from all over the globe. Tour companies and travel agencies vie to organize trips to Thailand as it is known as a paradise for tourism. Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, immense natural beauty, mouthwatering cuisine and extremely friendly people are considered some of the most important factors that make Thailand unique.
