Seven-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter  Kacey Musgraves  has announced her long-awaited return to the stage with her 2024  “ Deeper Well World Tour ”  promoted by  AEG Presents.  The headline world tour will stop at the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville on November 12, 2024. The  “Deeper Well World Tour”  marks Kacey’s most extensive live tour of her career. Support artists for her Louisville stop include  Lord Huron  and  Nickel Creek.

Kacey Musgraves has one more weekend before she launches her Deeper Well World Tour in State College, Penn., on Sept 4. Her extensive autumn trek will weave from the Northeast through the Midwest to Colorado, California, Canada, Texas, Kentucky, and Florida before wrapping in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena on Dec. 6 and 7. Musgraves looks forward to bringing the intimate songs on her album Deeper Well to life in arenas. “I don’t think I can pick a fave,” Musgraves said of the songs on Deeper Well. “But if I was going to pick a fave, I feel like ‘Jade Green’ would be very high up on there. That song makes me want to just frolic. I just want to run and frolic through Irish fields when I hear that song.” Now she’s tasked with reimagining how to translate the energy of these artful songs in some of the country’s most prominent venues.

Kacey Musgraves: “That’s the Million-Dollar Question”

“That’s the million-dollar question,” she told American Songwriter. “A show can easily kind of grow legs and transform into something totally different if you’re not careful in an arena because it’s so big.” Musgraves explained that spaces can feel impersonal and cold because arenas are concrete circles created for sports, not music. “It can feel like the audience is very anonymous and far away,” Musgraves said of playing in arenas. “I feel like where I shine is in a theater. It feels very personal, but an arena is amazing for so many reasons.” The singer described herself as a “production nerd.” Arena tours allow more opportunities “to do really special things,” she continued. “At the end of the day, I just want to sit with the guitar, and the songs still translate,” she said. “That’s kind of my goal. That’s how I feel about an arena: ‘How can we pull the audience in, make them feel like they’re part of it, not that they’re just watching some spectacle? How do we make this feel almost like you just saw a theater show?’ Hopefully, I’ll achieve that at the end of the day.” Obstacles aside, Musgraves said, “It’s been really fun to put together the live show.” Kacey Musgraves believes her song “Cardinal,” inspired by her relationship with John Prine, will be a highlight. “There’s all these moments that I’ve interwoven that are really beautiful eye candy,” she said. “But you’re there for the lyrics. You’re there for the music. That’s what we’re there for, also. It’s going to be so beautiful. I hope everyone comes to see it.”

Kacey Musgraves’ “Deeper Well” tour kicks off tonight in State College, PA in support of the singer’s sixth studio album of the same name.

The 36-date tour will include other nearby stops in Boston, Newark, Laval, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Brooklyn before wrapping up on December 7 in Nashville, TN. Musgraves will be joined by special guests Father John Misty, Nickel Creek and Lord Huron for select dates.

Kacey Musgraves Goes Topless Under Her Blazer at Ralph Lauren New York Fashion Week Show

Summer may be winding down, but Kacey Musgraves is still showing lots of skin.

The country star, 36, arrived at Ralph Lauren's New York Fashion Week show in Bridgehampton on Sept. 5 in a chic suit, and nothing underneath!

Musgraves rocked a western-inspired look with a cropped black blazer, worn without a shirt. She kept the blazer open, exposing her torso and a turquoise statement necklace with a horseshoe charm in the center. The blazer was matched with a pair of black flare trousers and a black and silver belt buckle. Her signature long locks — which she told PEOPLE in March she wasn’t cutting anytime soon — were on full display and styled in loose waves. She accessorized with more turquoise jewelry and wore a chunky bracelet and a couple of bangles with the same stones.

As for her glam, the Grammy winner kept it simple. She wore soft bronzed makeup, with light brown eyeshadow and bronzed blush, finished with matte nude lipstick.

It's certainly been a stellar season for Ralph Lauren. Not only did the brand helm the Olympic and Paralympic uniforms yet again, but it continued to dress the biggest names in the celebrity world. Alongside Musgraves at this season's show, Ralph Lauren's front row is host to Usher, H.E.R, Joey King, Brandon Sklenar, Laura Dern, Tom Hiddleston and Colman Domingo.

Musgraves is all about a fashion statement. In May, she took what someone thought was an insult and turned it into fashion. In 2019, someone wrote to her on X (which was Twitter at the time), and said, "I liked your music but your personality seems s---ty," to which she replied, "it is."

That whole screenshot was turned into a shirt , which she shared on Instagram with the caption, "Stay self aware."

"This needs to be official merch," one fan commented.

"It was," another responded with a laughing face emoji.

"She needs to bring it back then," the original commenter replied.

Understandably, the shirts were loved so much that they flew off the virtual shelves.

Musgraves' latest album, Deeper Well , was released in March. Her North American tour to support the album began on Sept. 4 in State College, Penn. and continues through December.

Concert review: A barefoot, down-to-earth Kacey Musgraves at TD Garden

The artist returns saturday, with material from her latest studio album ‘deeper well’.

Since breaking through in the early 2010s, Kacey Musgraves , who headlined TD Garden on the first installment of a two-night run Friday, has matter-of-factly defied any expectations placed upon her. The Texan singer got her start in country music, making waves early with the hypocrite-chastising call for self-acceptance “Follow You Arrow.” Since then, she’s lived that song’s “follow your arrow wherever it points” mantra, expanding her sonic palette while sharpening her already-potent songwriting and digging even deeper within herself.

“Deeper Well,” Musgraves’ sixth full-length album, came out this spring, with an expanded version released late last month; it’s warm and comforting, with Musgraves’ vocal melodies at times recalling traditional folk songs. Friday night’s show focused mostly on that album, which takes stock of Musgraves’ star status and revels in life’s smaller, brighter pleasures like morning routines with a lover (the open yet anxious “Too Good To Be True,” the luminous “Giver / Taker”) and the inexplicable beauty of nature (the pensive “The Architect”). The swaying “Dinner With Friends” collects more of these, although Musgraves salts any saccharine potential its verses might have with its chorus, which notes that she’s cataloging “The things I would miss/ From the other side.”

Musgraves’ soprano isn’t flashy, but the simplicity of her singing underscores the straightforwardness of her lyrics, even when they’re at their most poetic. On Friday, it filled TD Garden, while her band bolstered her songs with the occasional jam session and solo. Clocking in at a brisk 90 minutes, Musgraves’ set expertly balanced big feelings with lighter moments, with Musgraves’ appealing banter illuminating songs and further showcasing her down-to-earthness.

Confetti fell early on, when Musgraves declared “It’s alright to be alone sometimes” at the climax of her loping 2018 track “Lonely Weekend”; while returning from the second stage, Musgraves led a Renaissance Faire-evoking parade that gave way to a folky jam leading into “Jade Green”; she belted out pop sensation Chappell Roan’s go-go-club flag plant “Pink Pony Club” as an intro to her disco-country cut “High Horse”; and while her mint-green outfit felt like a 21st-century update of a Nashville variety-show host’s gowns, she performed the show barefoot, noting that a set piece where she spent some of the show wasn’t built for shoes.

Near the end of her set, Musgraves told the audience that she doesn’t believe in encores. “I’d rather be present and not pretend,” she said, explaining that encores’ pro forma nature took the spontaneity out of a concert’s natural rise and fall.

Her last two songs, the title track to “Deeper Well” and the gently supportive “Rainbow,” benefited from that presence of mind: “The things I was taught only took me so far/ Had to figure the rest out myself/ And then I found/ I found a deeper well,” she sings on the former, while on the latter, she reassures a friend who’s been going through tough times, “Tie up the bow, take off your coat, and take a look around/ Everything is alright now.” Taken together, they felt like an invitation to stop and give oneself grace, a fitting send-off from a pop star whose fortunes have steadily risen because of the way she’s stayed true to herself.

Kacey Musgraves says a past boyfriend helped her become more accepting

A note from Wild Card host Rachel Martin: I've been thinking a lot about authenticity lately. That word is thrown around so much right now that I'm afraid it's losing some of its power. But regardless, we all seem to be craving it, right? Real interactions with people. Authentic connections. The rough, messy truth of things. It's definitely one of the big reasons I started Wild Card , and it's what I want in my own life. I want it in my relationships, but I also want it in the music, the films and the books I consume, all the things.

Every artist is after authenticity in some way, but the thing I love about Kacey Musgraves is that she just is it. From the beginning of her career, the songs she wrote were just about the life she was living and how she saw the world. She sang about falling in love with fellow country musician Ruston Kelly and getting married to him. And then later on, she sang about falling out of love with him and getting divorced. But she also sings about smoking pot and queer relationships. And she's the kind of artist who will put a disco song on one of her albums and not give two hoots if you think she's not country enough, thank you very much.

Musgraves is making her art her way and she's making it for herself. That other people dig it, that's some sort of major fringe benefit that has put her at the top of the charts and won her album of the year at the Grammys in 2019 (and it was only the fourth country album to ever get that honor). Musgraves' latest album is Deeper Well and she's on tour now.

This Wild Card interview has been edited for length and clarity. Host Rachel Martin asks guests randomly-selected questions from a deck of cards. Tap play above to listen to the full podcast, or read an excerpt below.

Question 1: What's something about the place you grew up that you couldn't wait to leave behind?

Kacey Musgraves: First of all, I'm going to say that I had a wonderful childhood, but I did grow up in a very conservative part of East Texas.

Rachel Martin: Tell me the name of the town.

Musgraves: Golden. It's really small. There is a post office, but there's not a school. It's not big enough for a school. So I think growing up there, it's different than growing up in a city where there's, like, a million different viewpoints and there's a million different religions and a million different cultures and languages. There's a lack of diversity where I grew up. And I just had this urge to see the world and travel – that's when I started really understanding that everyone is the same, you know? And I wouldn't have gotten that if I would have stayed there.

Martin: I get that. I came from a small town in Idaho. I totally felt that too. And I can't figure out how I knew any different, you know? Because it was just my whole world and my family had been, like, from the same place for five, six generations.

Musgraves: Right.

Martin: Did you have family who lived in other places? Like, how did it come into your imagination that there was a different way to live?

Musgraves: I think it's just a natural curiosity. And thinking that really anything is possible. And that I don't have to do it the same way as everyone else.

Question 2: Was there a bedrock truth in your life that you came to find out wasn't true?

Musgraves: This also gets to where I grew up and preconceived notions about certain things. For instance, the acceptance of people in the queer community was kind of nonexistent where I grew up. I could count on one hand the amount of times I encountered an openly gay person. That's not to say that I encountered people who weren't closeted. But, there was a majority view of, "It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." That kind of mentality.

So I left Texas with this kind of idea that, "Well, people choose to be that way." And when I moved to Nashville, I started making friends in that community. And I had a boyfriend at the time who did me a huge favor. He was from a completely different upbringing than me, a liberal family in upstate New York. He had a ton of gay friends and he just sat me down one day and we had a real hard and honest conversation about it.

He was like, "Listen, you do not have the right perspective on this." He just helped me completely open up my eyes and see and I was just like, "Damn, I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to get out of where I came from, and to have my eyes and my heart open to this really wonderful community, and they've made me way more well rounded."

Martin: You talk about queer relationships in your art. I mean, that's clearly intentional. Do you feel sort of an obligation to use your platform that way?

Musgraves: Well, one of the best compliments that I've ever received in terms of my music and who I am in the world is that occasionally people will come up to me and say, "Hey, I grew up in a really small town like you did, and I've always loved country music, but I've never felt invited to that party." Honestly, it really wasn't about ever pushing buttons. It just was me observing what was happening around me and doing my job as a songwriter to put that in the form of a song.

And to me, country music is always about real people, real stories. And why wouldn't it continue to evolve?

Question 3: Does time feel like a positive or negative force in your life right now?

Musgraves: Honestly, the passage of time is something that like, really f***s me up.

Martin: Really?

Musgraves: Yeah. There's something so melancholy about it. Just seeing your grandparents get older, your parents get older, relationships changing. Looking in the mirror and seeing wrinkles that weren't there before. It's really trippy, like how it moves and bends.

I'm just thankful. I'm thankful for it. I'm thankful for the time I have. And I do feel like life keeps getting better as I get older. That's something that everyone that's older than you tells you, and you're like, "Yeah, whatever." But, I do feel that.

I'm in a period of time where this chapter is not defined by anyone else but me. And I don't know what's going to come next. And that's rare for me. I feel like I'm usually jumping to the next relationship because I love companionship and it's just been really nice to like, slow down time and enjoy exactly where I'm at. And enjoy the not-knowing of what or who might be next, you know?

Martin: That's such a lovely answer. Because it'll come.

Musgraves: Yeah, and it's funny, even in terms of looks, you know, we see pictures of ourselves five years ago and we're like, "Damn, I wish I would've known how great or how in shape I was then. I was so down on myself."

Rachel: Kacey, we are the youngest we will ever be right now!

Musgraves: Right now! I know. I hate it. I'm just kidding. When I kick off my shows I'm like, "Hey, everybody, we're existing right now at the same exact time on this crazy planet in the middle of this crazy universe. It's a miracle that we are here at the same time. And this moment right now, who you're with tonight, what you're going through in your life, what I'm going through in my life, is never going to be the same as it is right now. So, let's just be as present as possible."

It's just a nice reminder, like, let's put our phones down. I mean, you know, take some cute pictures, get the good angles, tag me [laughs]. But let's be present.

History of Maykop

Foundation of maykop.

The history of Maykop goes back to antiquity. In the 7th-12th centuries AD, the Great Silk Road passed through the territory of Maykop and Adygea. Adyghe, as a separate ethnic group, were first mentioned in the 12th century. In 1557, after the conclusion of the marriage alliance between Ivan the Terrible and the daughter of the Kabardian prince, the Adyghe tribes officially became part of Russia.

The first mention of the Adyghe toponym “Maykop” and related “Maykop heights”,”Maykop gorge”, etc. in Russian documents dates back to 1810. In January - February 1810, a detachment under the command of General of Infantry S.A. Bulgakov made an expedition to these lands. The second time the toponym Maykop was mentioned in documents 15 years later, in the summer of 1825, during an expedition of troops under the command of General A.A. Velyaminov. In the fall of 1825, by his order, a fort was erected on the bank of the Belaya River.

On May 25, 1857, on the site of the present Maykop, a Russian fortress was laid, surrounded by a high rampart and a moat. Until 1864, the year of the end of the Caucasian War, the fortress was an important strategic point during the conquest of Circassia. After the end of the Caucasian War, it gradually lost its military significance and the active development of industry began: pottery, butter, soap, and brick production.

In 1870, Maykop was given the status of a county town. In 1888, the Assumption Cathedral was built on the territory of the town. For a long time it occupied a central place in the Orthodox life of the local residents. Then, one after another, cultural and educational institutions began to appear.

Maykop in the late 19th - 20th centuries

In 1897, Maykop gained world fame with the discovery of the famous burial mound “Oshad”, which was the burial of a tribal leader belonging to the archaeological culture of the second half of the third millennium BC. The objects found in the mound are among the most ancient cultural monuments of the Bronze Age.

At the end of the 19th century, there were about 5,500 houses in Maykop, including 121 stone buildings, five Orthodox churches, a synagogue, two pharmacies, several schools. Industrial production was represented by 112 enterprises including 50 cooperage and 8 pottery workshops, 13 brick factories, an iron foundry, 6 water mills. Agriculture also developed, primarily animal husbandry and tobacco growing. In 1897, the population of Maykop was about 34,300 people.

In 1909, oil fields were discovered southwest of Maykop. On December 12, 1910, the first train arrived from Belorechensk to Maykop. In 1911, the construction of the water supply was completed.

On July 27, 1922, Circassian (Adyghe) Autonomous Oblast was formed. In 1936, the city of Maykop became its administrative center. In 1938, pumping of Maykop oil began through the Grozny-Tuapse pipeline to the Tuapse port and to the oil refinery. In 1939, the population of Maykop was 55,871 people.

During the Second World War, Maykop was occupied by German troops from August 9, 1942 to January 29, 1943. In 1952, the Maykop hydroelectric power station was put into operation on the Belaya River. Today, it is the most powerful hydroelectric power plant in Adygea. In 1960, the development of the Maykop gas condensate field, located 15 kilometers from the city, began. In the 1960s, the number of city residents exceeded 100 thousand.

In 1989, the population of Maykop was about 148,600 people. In 1990, the Adyghe Regional Council of People’s Deputies made a decision to transform Adyghe Autonomous Oblast into the Republic of Adygea.

Maykop - Features

Maykop is located on the right bank of the Belaya River (a tributary of the Kuban River) at an altitude of 210-230 meters above sea level about 1,400 south of Moscow and 130 km southeast of Krasnodar. This city is one of the greenest in Russia - there are a lot of parks and green spaces. According to the 2010 census, Russians made up about 71% of the city’s population, the Adyghe people - 18%.

The current coat of arms of Maykop was adopted in 1972. It depicts gold figurines of bulls found during excavations of the Maykop mound in 1897. Today, they are kept in the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.

This area is characterized by a temperate continental climate with mild winters, warm summer months and significant rainfall. The summer period lasts 180-198 days. The average temperature in January is minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, in July - plus 22.8 degrees Celsius.

The system of intercity bus transportation connects Maykop with Krasnodar, Sochi, Gelendzhik, Nalchik, Stavropol, Makhachkala, Rostov, Armavir, Belorechensk, Tuapse, Astrakhan, and other cities. Buses and trolleybuses are used for passenger transportation on intracity routes.

The main sectors of the Maykop industry are food, woodworking, pulp and paper, machine building. The tourism industry is actively developing, hiking, horse, and bicycle routes are being created that run through the territory of the Northwest Caucasus. In the village of Pobeda, on the southern outskirts of the city, there is a balneological institution. Mineral water from local springs is used for medical procedures.

Today, Maykop is, first of all, the main cultural center of Adygea. The city has a lot of preserved historical and architectural monuments. In addition, it is easy to get to a number of beautiful natural sights of the Caucasus from the capital of the Adygea Republic.

The museum has unique collections numbering more than 270 thousand exhibits: collections of clothing, musical instruments, porcelain, precious stones, coins, sculpture, graphics, fine arts of the 20th-21st centuries, arts and crafts, art of the countries of the East, natural science, historical-household, ethnographic collections, and much more. This is the only museum in Russia with a sector of the Adyghe diaspora, which is devoted to the life of the Adygs (Circassians) living abroad. Sovetskaya Street, 229.

Maykop Mosque - the main mosque of Maykop and the seat of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Adygea and Krasnodar Krai. The construction of the mosque was started in April 1999 and completed in October 2000. It is crowned with a huge azure dome. One of the characteristic features of this religious site is that non-Muslim tourists are allowed to visit it. Sovetskaya Street, 200.

Monument of Memory and Unity - a monument dedicated to the victims of the Caucasian War of 1817-1864, the symbol of unity of all residents of the republic. This original 20-meter building has the shape of a traditional Adyghe hearth. Its facade is decorated with high reliefs based on the national epic, images of mythological and cult scenes, portraits of famous cultural figures, famous historical figures. The monument is surrounded by a park and is an important component in the architectural composition that unites the Maykop Mosque, the Philharmonic Society, the National Museum of Adygea. Maykop Park of Culture and Recreation - one of the most beautiful places in the city. This park was laid out in the center of Maykop in 1966. In 2009, a full-scale reconstruction was carried out. Among other things, a light and music fountain was installed. During the summer season, a large open-air pool 3 meters deep is open (one of the largest outdoor pools in Europe). Nearby, you can have a snack in one of the cafes. Pushkina Street, 278.

Museum of Oriental Art . This museum was created to collect exhibits about the culture of the North Caucasus and preserve the traditions of folk art. The exhibits are divided into the following collections: “Fabrics and Woven Products”, “Precious Metals and Precious Stones”, “Ceramics, Wood, and Metal”, “Painting, Graphics, and Sculpture”, “Archeology”. Pervomayskaya Street, 221.

Picture Gallery of the Republic of Adygea . In total, there are about 1,300 exhibits in this small museum. The collection “Graphics of Adygea” is especially interesting. It also hosts temporary exhibitions of local artists. In one of the halls, you can see the permanent exhibition “Folk crafts and trades of the Adygs”. Krasnooktyabrskaya Street, 27.

Maykop Brewery . The buildings of this large brewery are recognized as architectural monuments. Its malt shop (1910) resembling a castle can be rightfully called the most picturesque building in Maykop (Lenina Street, 1). The main building of the brewery is located at Gogolya Street, 2. There are guided tours of the Maikop brewery.

St. Michael’s Athos Hermitage - a monastery of the Maykop diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. Founded in 1877, it is located in the village of Pobeda, about 7 km southeast of the center of Maykop. The buildings of this monastery are an architectural monument. Today, the monastery is visited by thousands of tourists and pilgrims. Excursions are organized around the monastery.
