Cruising from Durban , South Africa in April/May 2023 on the MSC Orchestra.
Have an 11 hour port of call stop in Aqaba, Jordan.
MSC say they do not provide assistance with obtaining visas.
Various visa sites charge $ 175.00 and up and the Jordanian Embassy site recommends a Jordan Pass .
Any recommendations which visa to obtain and from whom ?.
Appreciate any suggestions.

Don’t be ridiculous /balkivoice/
US, South African, etc. citizens (most readers of cruise critic) do not need to prearrange a tourist visa for Jordan. There should be no charge for cruise passengers at Aqaba. But this is the Middle East where rules can always change. Worse case you show up and get charged $50-60. Do not use a visa service or get a Jordan Pass.

WCOOK, thank you for your reply and suggestions.
My only concern was that MSC are requesting US citizens obtain a visa for Jordan and they don't provide them.
Don't want to arrive at port of Durban for embarkation and they deny us boarding because we have no visa.

You don’t need a visa before arrival in Jordon on a cruise ship,it’s free on arrival.
Jordon horizons are one of the larger shore excursion company in Aqaba and they can confirm any info you require….We did Petra & Wadi Rum with them.

Anyone recently on the Orchestra ship? I’m trying to see if they have Starlink installed for the internet access. It seems that MSC has installed it on certain ships.
I’m taking a week cruise soon and I’ll need to be connected a bit for work.

However, when I saw a deal last summer for a 10 day Lisbon-Lisbon MSC cruise on the Orchestra in July 2023 for two adults and two 12 year olds for less than $2400, I jumped on it.

Sail date: Oct 23, 2012 / Traveled as: Family (young children) Ship: MSC Orchestra / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean. The ship itself was very nice but looked more worn than only five years old. The lounges and decor were quite nice, almost paradoxical for the actual calibre of cruise this was.

If the Orchestra's Mediterranean cruises are anything like the one we had, expect fewer than 10 native English passengers although every crew member will speak very good English. From polls by our cruise director (fluent in 4 languages) at the shows, a majority of the passengers are multi-generational Italian families on summer vacation ...
