Germany FAQ's

Located in the heart of Europe, Germany has historically been and still is politically, economically and culturally influential and the largest EU member state by population and economic output. Known around the world for the Oktoberfest, car brands, football, and beer, it is also leading the world in banking and insurance companies. The country is probably best known for its World War II history and more recent times when it was split into East and West; everybody is familiar with the Berlin Wall, which came down about 30 years ago. There is a load of culture, rich history and natural beauty that makes Germany a famous tourist destination for so many.

Germany is a beautiful, varied country with an impressive culture and endless travel opportunities. It has deep forests, fairy-tale castles, and picture-perfect towns are something that you shouldn't miss. The following destinations, with their impressive architecture and indisputable charm, are hands down the most beautiful places to visit in Germany. Berlin is one of the most interesting cities in Europe, and certainly the one that has changed the most in the last 20 years. Cologne is home to one of the most impressive cathedrals in the world with a thriving art scene and some of the most high-spirited locals. Nestled on the River Elbe, Germany's second-largest metropolis, Hamburg , offers fascinating historical architecture, striking futuristic buildings and some of the best nightlife in Europe. It also has a treasure-packed historic center, and more bridges than any other city in the world. Germany`s most scenic drive, the Romantic Road , offers visitors the opportunity to explore the rich culture, charming scenery, and medieval character of this fantastic country. Running between Wurzburg and Fussen , it leads travelers through Bavarian Alps most stunning attractions, including the spectacular Neuschwanstein Castle, the baroque city of Würzburg, Rothenburg ob der tauber - the best preserved medieval town in the country, and the enchanting Pfaffenwinkel region, famous for its rolling countryside sprinkled with picturesque villages and pilgrimage churches. Add to all these some excellent beer, the most beautiful Christmas Markets, and an abundance of activities and you`ll soon wonder why in the world you haven’t visited Germany earlier.

Like all popular European destinations, Germany sees visitors throughout the year – rain, snow or shine. And all of these are a possibility depending on when you visit Germany. Every season in this country has its charm, as well as its pitfalls, so when to go depends on your travel type and what activities you`re interested in. Generally speaking, the best time to visit is during the `shoulder seasons` from March through May and from late October through November. The weather may be a bit chilly, but you`ll enjoy lower prices and fewer crowds. The summer months bring warm temperatures and lush landscape, but keep in mind, that it can get uncomfortably crowded. You will also need to be aware of the events and festivities that take place throughout the year that will bring in influx of tourist and increase in hotel rates. Here is an overview of Germany in all four seasons that will help you decide what`s the best time of year for you to visit. For more information, check out: Best Time to Visit Germany .

We recommend 7-10 days based on what you want to see and do. We offer flexible vacation packages so you can select your number of nights in each city, desired hotel and activities. We suggest a minimum of 3 nights in larger cities.

There are many ways to explore Germany, depending on your itinerary and budget. Find out how you can best travel around the country from renting a car and driving down the Autobahn (one of the densest and best maintained highway networks on earth), to enjoying a relaxing train ride. All modes of transportation are up to a high modern standard. By Train: One of the best ways to discover Germany (and Europe at large) is by train. Deutsche Bahn or `DB`, the German railway system, is very well developed and reliable, and if you book tickets in advance (180 days before departure at the earliest) it can be surprisingly affordable. You can reach almost every city in Germany by train; not to mention that watching the German landscape stream by your window is a very relaxing and comfortable way to travel. Regional trains are now run by a variety of private operators as well as Deutsche Bahn subsidiaries, but they can all be booked through bahn.com . Long distance trains on the other hand are almost all run by Deutsche Bahn. Those few that aren`t have to be booked through the operating company. By Car: Germany has a world-famous network of excellent roads and Autobahn (motorway) with no toll or fees for cars. Although public transport in Germany is excellent, those who choose to drive will find the road network fast and efficient as well. Like most of Europe, Germany drives on the right-hand side. Check in advance on whether your non-German driving licence is valid in Germany. Otherwise, you may risk a heavy fine or up to one year in jail. For longer stays most foreign licenses are not valid no matter what your residence status is. If you plan on driving on a longer stay (several months or years) try getting a European drivers license that is usually valid throughout the European Union. Germany offers many scenic drives that will lead you past picturesque villages, medieval castles, and unspoiled countryside. From the Romantic Road to the Castle Road, from the Fairy Tale Road to the German Wine Route, are some of the roads best traveled in Germany. For more information about driving in Germany, consult our guide by clicking here Driving in Germany .

The currency of Germany is the Euro. US dollars are not accepted. Please be sure to have the correct currency on hand or be prepared to exchange your dollars for euros upon arrival. Currency exchange desks can be found at the airport and many locations throughout the major cities. For more detailed information, consult our guide by clicking here Tipping in Germany .

English may be spoken at your hotel and in the tourist areas, but not everywhere. We suggest you get a good English-German guidebook and familiarize yourself with common phrases such as hello, goodbye, excuse me and numbers 1-10.

Whether you're indecisive or prefer having multiple options while on vacation, the Club Med La Palmyre Atlantique will appeal to travelers who want a bit of serendipity with their all-inclusive stay. Situated in Les Mathes, France — a coastal community less than two hours northwest of Bordeaux — this Club Med outpost offers a mix of everything you could want while visiting France: phenomenal food, coastal charm and proximity to top-notch vineyards.

The Atlantic restaurant offers local oysters and shellfish dishes as well as French delicacies like croissants and foie gras. A more casual seafood venue called La Belle Epoque is also available. You can even partake in wine-tasting workshops at La Belle Epoque's wine cellar.

To work off all the gourmet fare and extra pours of vino, sign up for the resort's beach boot camp or try sailing on nearby Bonne Anse Bay. This beachfront property overlooking the Mediterranean Sea draws inspiration from its location in the Turkish resort city of Antalya. The 183 rooms, suites and villas are housed in buildings with traditional Seljuk architecture (think: towering stone structures with clean lines, grand archways and domed tops).

Accommodations are spacious, measuring at least 409 square feet. In-room amenities include minibars, desks and balconies with views of the hotel gardens, the sea or the two on-site 18-hole golf courses. Bathrooms are particularly well appointed, as they're outfitted with heated floors and mirrors alongside separate showers and bathtubs.

After a restful night's sleep, guests can enjoy many activities without setting foot off the resort grounds. Besides teeing off at the championship courses, visitors can dip in the Mediterranean's clear blue waters or the outdoor pool, which has a swim-up bar. Later, you can sing tunes at the karaoke bar, savor fresh fish with international flavors at Palm Lounge & Bar or grab a snack from the Dome Cafe, among other food and beverage outlets.

One facility you won't want to miss is the hotel's spa. It specializes in Ayurvedic treatments using coconut, almond or castor oils enhanced with holistic healing herbs such as turmeric, tulsi, brahmi and rosemary. The treatments benefit the central nervous system, eliminate symptoms of stress and help treat insomnia and headaches.

All-inclusive rates at Kempinski Hotel The Dome start at 247 euros ($260) per night, based on double occupancy. Keep in mind that the hotel has a two-night minimum for all stays.

Zoetry Mallorca, in the dreamy Balearic Islands, is made for twosomes seeking a romantic getaway. All come with modern essentials like minibars, coffee makers and flat-screen TVs.

Dining options aren't as abundant here as at mega all-inclusive resorts. Still, the two on-site restaurants serve plenty of tasty dishes to keep you full throughout your stay, with alfresco dining under the Balearic sky. Rather than lining up at a stereotypical buffet, you can savor fresh Mediterranean-influenced dishes sourced from the hotel's garden and local markets. Should you crave more variety, a third venue with fusion fare is also on the way.

Other amenities include two outdoor pools, a private running track and a fitness center. Also, the on-site Pure Spa draws inspiration from the five senses and houses facilities like eucalyptus-scented Turkish baths and ice fountains.

There is an astonishing number of facilities at this megaresort on Crete. There are 16 different swimming pools, a private beach, a spa, one of the largest open-air movie theaters in Europe and outdoor sports courts (for everything from tennis to basketball to miniature golf) — all under the Mediterranean sun.

Food and beverage options are plentiful, too. You'll have your pick of a dozen eateries, including Pithos Restaurant, which specializes in organic Cretan cuisine. Estia Restaurant, a Mediterranean-influenced buffet, also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The resort is also introducing a couple of new establishments in 2023 that will serve seafood and Cretan barbecue. All these venues come in addition to 10 bars offering caffeinated beverages, frozen poolside concoctions and more.

Accommodations are abundant. The 680 rooms, suites and villas are decorated in white with pops of color in the throw pillows, artwork and other decorative items. Additionally, they are equipped with air conditioning, minibars that get restocked weekly, coffee makers and 50-inch smart TVs.

All-inclusive rates at Creta Maris Resort start at 228 euros ($240) per night, based on double occupancy.

Sitting almost 6,000 feet above sea level in southeastern France, the 433-room Club Med Les Arcs Panorama earns its name from the spectacular views it offers of the Les Arcs ski area. Bourg-Saint-Maurice's mountain is ideal for people learning to ski, so many come to this Club Med outpost to try a new sport. The apres ski scene and hospitality of this true mountain town also attract visitors.

The resort's all-inclusive rates include all meals and drinks, kids club access (for guests between the ages of 4 and 17), lift passes, locker service and lessons. Yoga classes for adults and children are also available, and there's a heated indoor pool for year-round enjoyment.

After working up an appetite on the slopes, The White Stone restaurant serves both local bites and dishes with international flavors; the restaurant has a large terrace and multiple dining rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, so you'll have incredible views of the mountains no matter where you sit.

There's also a lounge with a wine cellar and bar, the casual L'Arolla bar and an indoor-outdoor lounge only accessible to guests staying in Exclusive Collection Space accommodations.

Rooms and suites at the Club Med Les Arcs Panorama feature traditional mountain-style decor with a contemporary twist. For example, you'll find pine wood accents, white walls (one of which has a faint silver tree mural), bold pink or yellow pillows, throw blankets and curtains. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs and desks. Upgraded Exclusive Collection Space suites include access to a private ski storage area and concierge services.

All-inclusive rates at the Club Med Les Arcs Panorama start at 469 euros ($491) per night, based on double occupancy. The resort has a seven-night minimum for all stays in summer.

To  travel to Europe  is to journey through a continent filled with fascinating history, incredible architecture and awe-inspiring monuments. Inhabited since ancient times and home to a diverse array of cultures,  Europe  has been the cradle of artistic movements as important as  Gothic ,  Baroque  and  Renaissance , as well as the more provocative avant-garde.

The  second-smallest  continent on earth,  Europe  encompasses around  50 sovereign states  and is home to approximately  10%  of the world’s population. It was here that  Western Civilization  was born, shaped by civilizations as glorious as the  Ancient Greeks  and the  Roman Empire . The  Renaissance , the  Age of Discovery  and the  Industrial Revolution  all began in the European continent, making a  tour of Europe  infinitely fascinating as you trace the heritage of these world-shaping movements.

If you take a  tour of Europe,  you can admire some of the best art collections and museums on the planet, such as the  Louvre  in Paris, St. Petersburg’s  Hermitage  and the  National Gallery  in London. On the other hand, you can find intriguing remnants of imperial architecture in cities such as  Vienna ,  Budapest  or  Prague . In the romantic streets and squares of  Italy ,  Croatia  or  Greece,  you might find yourself surrounded by art, in all forms, without ever needing to set foot in a gallery, as creativity abounds in these destinations!

On a  vacation to Europe,  you can discover the imperial capitals of  Russia , be enraptured by the natural beauty of  Scandinavia,  feel like you have stepped into a fairytale in  Poland , or in any of the capitals of the  Baltic States , get acquainted with the innovative atmosphere of  Holland  and  Germany  or simply unwind on a breezy  Mediterranean  beach in  France ,  Spain ,  Italy  or  Greece.

Take a  tour of Europe  and marvel at diverse landscapes, experience vibrant  Mediterranean  vitality and discover a continent filled with treasures of all kinds. In  Europe , you will discover that the treasures here can be found in everyday life, in the traditions of its diverse people and in the varied landscapes, awash with natural beauty as well as man-made wonders. All-Inclusive Honeymoon Packages in Europe: 7 Most Romantic

Choosing one of the many available all-inclusive honeymoon packages in Europe will allow you to focus solely on one another. There are no worries about what you’re going to do or how to make it a romantic experience. Let your chosen resort take care of the details and spend your honeymoon focused on each other.

With that, we’ll share some of the best all-inclusive resorts in Europe with honeymoon packages to ensure the memorable getaway you’re dreaming of.

What Does a Honeymoon Package Include?

Honeymoon packages will include different things depending on the resort. Some of the most common items include a couples’ massage, breakfast in bed, romantic turndown service, and champagne waiting in your room when you arrive. Sometimes the resort will provide a bottle of champagne and some tasty treats in your room if you let them know it’s your honeymoon without having to add a package .

Things to Consider When Choosing a Honeymoon Package

The destination.

Unfortunately, you won’t find many all-inclusive resorts in Europe. Most all-inclusives that are in Europe are located in the Mediterranean region like Greece and Turkey. This is likely because there is so much to see and do in most European cities outside of the resorts . However, you can still find quite a few all-inclusive resorts with various cultural offerings, delicious foods, and plenty to do.

What Type of Honeymoon do You Want

When I think of a honeymoon, I think of an exciting adventure filled with new experiences I can enjoy with my partner. I know this is not everyone’s dream honeymoon, of course. You might want to spend most of yours cuddled up in a private villa, indulging in couples’ massages at seaside, or lounging at poolside sipping drinks. Different all-inclusive resorts accommodate different types of honeymooners.

What is Included

Some resorts will include the bare minimum, like food and drinks. Others might include everything you need, not only delicous meals and unlimited beverages, but a variety of activities, butler service, and spa credits. You can also find resorts that have added honeymoon packages with more romantic inclusions, such as a couples’ massage and romantic turndown service.

Your Budget

Depending on where you decide to honeymoon in Europe, the cost will vary. Places like Greece and France are usually more expensive, whereas Turkey and some parts of Italy may be more affordable. However, keep in mind that no matter where you book, overall, you will be saving money by choosing an all-inclusive resort.

7 Best All-Inclusive Honeymoon Packages Europe

Honeymoons are much more simple to plan and even more romantic when you can pay for everything upfront and not worry about having to take your wallet out again. Whether you are looking for the ultimate celebration of your love, or just a relaxed honeymoon cuddled up to one another, there is a honeymoon package for you outlined below.

Iberostar Grand Salome, Canary Islands

Iberostar Grand Salome is located on Tenerife , the largest of the Canary Islands. This archipelago is a territory of Spain and boasts some of the most spectacular coastal landscapes in the world. It’s a fantastic honeymoon destination . And, when combined with one of the best all-inclusive resorts , it makes for an even better honeymoon experience.

Even though this resort is part of a large chain, Grand Salome is more of a boutique resort. That’s because it has a more intimate feel while catering to each individual guest. Each room is minimalistic and includes butler service, allowing you to devote you time and focus on each other.

An adults-only property, it has seven restaurants on-site providing gastronomic experiences. The Mirador Terrace is the most romantic, with amazing coastal views. It would be easy to spend most of your time in the beautiful spa. It’s one of the most romantic I’ve seen, complete with a private pool and tranquil sitting area.

Grand Palladium White Island Resort, Ibiza

You’re probably at least familiar with Ibiza, known for its extravagant parties that tend to last all night. The Grand Palladium is strategically located here close to popular bars and clubs. Plus, it sits on one of the longest beaches on the island. You can celebrate your love until the sun comes up, and then relax the day away, soaking in your Jacuzzi and perhaps indulging in a poolside massage.

The Grand Palladium doesn’t technically have a honeymoon package. Although, it does have something called “Smile Services.” What that means, is the staff will do everything they can to make your honeymoon ultra-romantic. It could be providing a bottle of champagne, prebooking reservations, and/or reserving private time for you in the spa so that you can enjoy it all to yourself.

Grand Palladium White Island has recently undergone renovations, so all rooms are modern and sleek. There are options that come with a private jacuzzi on the terrace or a rainfall shower, along with extra- spacious suites. The property offers over 10 bars and restaurants, and you’ll have access to the neighboring resort and its facilities.

Club Med Chefalù, Sicily

You can find Club Meds all over the world, but this one along the picturesque coast of Sicily in Italy , is the best of them all for honeymooners. Nestled on seaside cliffs, you’ll enjoy incredible panoramic views. It hosts some of the most romantic accommodations, with villas featuring giant soaking tubs and large private terraces overlooking the awe-inspiring scenery.

Club Med Chefalù includes as many as 60 activities in your stay. Everything from hiking the rocky cliffs to sailing the waters below and trying out paddleboard yoga is possible here. The resort also has romantic restaurant settings with ocean views.

Not only does this property provide some of the best inclusions, but it offers the chance to explore rich history, built around an 18th-century palace. The original chapel and towers have managed to survive the test of time. If you want to discover more, the resort’s concierge service can arrange a tour tailored to your needs.

Mayia Exclusive Resort and Spa, Rhodes

Mayia was built to accommodate couples and all types of luxury-seeking travelers. It is a newer hotel that took its ambiance to the next level. I can’t even explain how the architecture and design of this all-inclusive adults-only resort makes you feel as if you’ve entered a whole new world of relaxation.

The resort offers two different all-inclusive honeymoon packages to choose from. The basic honeymoon package includes a welcome basket with champagne and various Greek treats, breakfast in bed, romantic turndown service, a candlelit dinner, and a 30-minute couples’ massage.

In addition to that, Mayia’s all-inclusive program includes a ton of romantic activities such as dance classes. Plus you get free use of the spa facilities. The rooms are also highly romantic, with swim-up options, luxury suites with private pools, minibars, and awe-inspiring sunset views.

Mitsis Laguna Resort and Spa, Crete

Located on Crete, Greece’s largest island, Mitsis Laguna Resort adds lots of romance to its all-inclusive offerings. This 5-star resort will make you feel as if you walked into a Disney castle when you step through the door of your suite.

Mitsis also includes a complimentary honeymoon package for guests that can show proof of marriage. That even includes a honeymoon cake and sparkling wine waiting in your room upon arrival. If you want more, you can upgrade to the exclusive honeymoon package which includes, a bottle of Moet, balloons, room service, and daily special offers.

There are five pools, one with huge water slides and waterfalls. And, you can enjoy watersports like canoeing and paddleboating. When you need to quench your thirst or soothe those hunger pangs, there are six bars, including a champagne, wine, and sushi bar, and nine restaurants.

Lara Barut Collection, Antalya

When it comes to an all-inclusive experience, Lara Barut doesn’t mess around. Everything you see at this resort is included in the nightly rate. Beyond what is usually included, you can use the spa facilities, the giant water park , and take advantage of 24-hour room service.

The property also offers one of the most inclusive free honeymoon packages of any resort. That includes breakfast in bed one day, a candlelit dinner, sparkling wine, a fruit basket, a romantic bathroom set up, and a free framed photo taken by the resort’s photographer. This package would typically cost hundreds of dollars at other resorts.

The rooms at Lara Barut are also super romantic, whether you book a standard garden view suite or a presidential suite with a Jacuzzi and a Turkish bath. The Bayou Villas are hard to beat, however. They’re located in an area that’s secluded from the rest, making it feel like you’re staying in a private haven made just for the two of you.

Voyage Belek Golf and Spa Resort, Turkey

Voyage Belek has a little bit of everything, making it a good pick no matter what type of honeymoon you prefer. You can play a few rounds of golf, bring out your inner kid at the water park, and relax in a Turkish bath at the spa. There are multiple ways to enjoy the water, from indoor and outdoor pools to lounging on a jetty, or sunbathing at the beach in between dips.

The resort’s free honeymoon package is the most comprehensive on this list. It features sparkling wine, a fruit plate, a nut plate, and a dessert plate uppon arrival. Your room will have bathrobes, slippers, and roses too. Plus, you’ll get breakfast in bed one day, a special reservation at one of the restaurants, a free photo, and discounts on spa services.

You can choose between many different room options. At Voyage Belek, there are private bungalows, rooms with ocean views, suites with terraces that have private Jacuzzis, and rooms connected to the laguna for a quick dive. Most also come with their own certain privileges, like daily pastry service, an in-room floral bouquet, free laundry service, room service, and express check-in.
