Costco cruise deals: How to save money booking travel at a warehouse club

Erica Silverstein

Deal hunters know that Costco Travel is an under-the-radar hit for finding travel deals. For folks who prefer to vacation at sea, Costco cruise deals can be among the most lucrative offers you can find.

That's because low fares and value-added extras are hallmarks of Costco cruise bookings. Combine that with generally friendly service from the warehouse club's travel agents, and you might have another way to get maximum value out of your membership.

What are the benefits of booking a cruise through Costco, and how do Costco's cruise prices compare with cruise line pricing? I went online to road-test the booking platform. Here's what I learned.

Benefits of booking a cruise through Costco

First things first (because I've seen people misinterpret this): a Costco cruise is a sailing booked through Costco Travel. Costco does not operate its own branded cruise line where the buffet line serves Kirkland hot dogs and churros and all cabins are equipped with Lovesac beanbag chairs. (That would be epic, though.)

Related: 5 unexpected places that sell cruises

The main benefit of booking a cruise through Costco is that every booking comes with a Digital Costco Shop Card and/or onboard credit.

Also, if you're an Executive Member, you earn 2% back on qualifying Costco purchases (up to $1,000), including many travel purchases. With cruises, you'd earn the 2% back on the cruise fare but not on the taxes, fees, auto-gratuities, other surcharges and trip protection.

That's free money for you to spend, either in a Costco warehouse or on the ship – especially as Costco cruises typically have competitive fares. It's not like you're paying more than you would by booking directly and getting the difference in Costco money.

This brings me to my second point. Typically, Costco Travel offers competitive rates on cruises, so you can either find a discounted deal or at least pay a similar rate offered by other travel sellers.

Finally, Costco offers "Buyer's Choice" and "Kirkland Signature" cruise deals, which offer "exclusive savings and included extras," according to the Costco Cruises website. The added-value perks vary by cruise line but may include shipboard credit, complimentary dinners and spa treatments on board and special wine and culinary theme cruise access with exclusive meals, tastings and demos.

My quick search through these deals revealed that Costco's Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line cruises usually have the most added freebies. Norwegian cruises even feature free perks, such as a photo package or spa credit, that are combinable with the line's Free at Sea value-adds offered to everyone. Celebrity cruise deals were the ones centered around food-and-wine theme cruise perks, while Costco Carnival cruise deals typically offer both onboard credit and a Costco shop card.

I was not surprised to see that you could book Disney cruises through Costco, but they are not eligible for either Kirkland Signature or Buyer's Choice deals.

Costco cruise prices

Costco Travel boasts "exclusive Costco member rates," but are you really getting a deal? I priced out three sailings on different cruise lines to see how much you could potentially save by booking a Costco cruise.

costco travel cruise cancellation policy

I started with a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean 's Harmony of the Seas, departing Sept. 9.

Costco listed balcony cabins from $784 per person. Booking perks included $50 onboard credit per room, one meal for two people in a specialty restaurant and a Costco shop card. Royal Caribbean listed rates starting from $833 per person on the same departure.

The cheapest balcony cabins where I could pick a cabin were Boardwalk-facing balcony cabins (inward-facing balconies toward the back of the ship) on Deck 14. Costco's final price for the two-person cabin was $1,849.56, plus a $95 shop card and the dining and credit perks. Royal Caribbean's final price was $2,197.56, with no perks.

Both prices included taxes and fees. The difference before the perks was $348, plus you get roughly $200 in value from the perks alone.

Next, I priced out a Carnival cruise , which didn't offer as many extra perks.

A six-night Mexico cruise on Carnival Miracle, departing from Los Angeles Oct. 8, was listed as $584 for a balcony cabin on Carnival and $564 on Costco.

Carnival offered $50 onboard credit per room, and Costco offered a $70 shop card and possibly some shipboard credit, but it wasn't clear the way the fine print was written.

costco travel cruise cancellation policy

Final prices worked out to $1,478.40 on Carnival (for two people sharing a cabin) and $1,444.40 on Costco. The Costco cruise deal was slightly better, especially if it really did come with shipboard credit.

For my last cruise, I looked at a seven-night Hawaii cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line 's Pride of America, departing May 27.

Starting prices were similar: $2,649 per person for a balcony cabin through Costco and $2,549 on Norwegian's website. Both included Norwegian's Free at Sea perks (complimentary beverage package, specialty dining, Wi-Fi and shore excursion credit).

costco travel cruise cancellation policy

However, Costco also offered the following valuable perks:

  • Photo package.
  • $50 spa credit for two people.
  • 200-minute Internet Package.
  • $50 arcade credit for one guest.
  • One bottle of wine and chocolate-covered strawberries (per room).

On the other hand, Norwegian listed additional Free at Sea perks – free airfare and free third and fourth guests – that Costco did not mention on its site.

Ultimately, this sailing priced out the same at $6,375.28 per balcony cabin, based on double occupancy. Norwegian might have the edge if you can take advantage of the airfare offer. Otherwise, the Costco deal could be better value with all the extra inclusions.

Things to know when booking Costco cruises

costco travel cruise cancellation policy

I noticed a few things as I road-tested Costco's booking tool and compared it to the cruise lines' versions.

You can click on Kirkland Signature or Buyer's Choice deals to see featured offers, but they don't necessarily account for all of Costco's best deals. Sort by destination or cruise line to see more options.

Costco wasn't always clear about whether all sail dates and cabin categories were eligible for deals. The links that prompted you to click them to determine eligibility never gave me that information. Because I was not actually booking cruises, I could not see if these details became clearer just before you gave Costco your credit card information.

Lead-in rates were occasionally for guarantee rooms (where the cruise line picks your cabin), even when I thought I was choosing a regular cabin type. If you're not given a cabin number and you want control over your stateroom location, click the link to choose another room or cabin category.

Costco only accepts Visa and MasterCard for cruise booking payments. You will not be able to use your American Express and earn Membership Rewards points for your vacation purchase.

Related: Use these credit cards to maximize your next cruise vacation

You can, however, use a future cruise credit from a cruise line to pay for all or part of your Costco cruise. Your shop card amount will be determined by the cost of the cruise fare, not how you pay for it. So, if you use FCC to pay for your entire sailing, you will still get the shop card based on the invoice price.

Ultimately, savings will vary based on the specific itinerary, departure date and room you choose. The more you spend, the higher the shop card amount will be. Some deals were only available on close-in sailings or specific sail dates. In general, though, pricing was competitive with the cruise lines, and often the value-adds gave Costco the edge.

Costco cruise cancellation policy

Costco Travel operates like a typical online travel seller. Its cruise change and cancellation policies are simply what the cruise lines put in place themselves. They aren't different because you booked through Costco.

If you need to change or cancel your Costco cruise, you may be subject to fees or forfeit your deposit or portion of your cruise fare, according to each cruise line's rules.

You cannot get a rate reduction once you pay in full for the cruise, usually 90 to 160 days before departure. "Exceptions to this policy, if any, are at the full discretion of the cruise line and are outside of the control of Costco Travel," according to the online terms and conditions.

Are Costco cruises a good deal?

costco travel cruise cancellation policy

Costco cruises are priced competitively, especially when you factor in the shop card or shipboard credit available with every purchase. Some cruises will be exceptionally good deals, especially ones that come with lots of complimentary extras. Others will be roughly the same value as you'd find elsewhere.

You can spend a lot of time searching the site for the most amazing Kirkland Signature or Buyer's Choice steal, but it isn't always simple to assess the value. Still, if you're flexible, focus on these featured offers, especially ones with lots of freebies.

Travelers generally report having good experiences with Costco, either booking online or using one of their agents. You can use future cruise credit to book cruises with Costco. You will still earn cruise loyalty points toward status and can earn points, miles or cash back for your purchases made with rewards-earning credit cards like Visa and Mastercard.

It's likely not worth joining Costco just for its travel services. However, if you already have a membership and are planning a cruise, it's definitely worth seeing what the warehouse club is offering in terms of pricing and perks for the sailing you're contemplating. You might find a great deal and get a shop card to spend when you return home from vacation.

Costco Wholesale

  • Costco members receive discounted pricing.
  • Coverage options for domestic or international travel, as well as cruises or for rental cars only.
  • Higher coverage limits than credit card travel benefits.
  • Only one level of coverage is available, and customization is limited.
  • Annual or multi-trip plans are not available.

When something goes wrong on your trip, having travel insurance protects you personally and covers eligible travel expenses.

Many travelers rely on credit card travel protections, but those benefits generally have lower limits and only cover reservations made with that card.

If you’re considering buying Costco travel insurance, here’s what you need to know, including what it covers, how much it costs and which plan is right for you.

What does Costco travel insurance cover?

Members tend to love Costco and often look to see if it offers products and services before looking elsewhere.

When planning a trip, members might ask, "Does Costco sell travel insurance?" so they can protect their vacation. Costco offers several different types of travel insurance coverage based on the type of trip you are taking.

Insurance policies are offered by Cover-More Inc., a company of Zurich. To simplify coverage and premiums, Costco only offers one insurance option for each type of vacation.

International vacation packages

For vacation packages outside of the U.S., Costco members can choose an international travel policy. These policies generally offer the highest coverage limits and are designed for trips to all eligible countries around the world.

Domestic vacation packages

Travelers staying within the U.S. can get a travel insurance policy from Costco to cover their trip. Coverage limits are substantial enough to cover most domestic travel needs.

Whether your cruise is within the U.S. or visiting destinations abroad, cruise travel insurance protects you and your finances. A cruise insurance policy from Costco Travel covers all of your trip, not just the actual cruise.

Rental cars

Instead of buying expensive travel insurance from a rental car company, Costco trip insurance offers coverage to protect your rental car. It covers damage to the rental vehicle and post-departure trip interruption benefits. Rental car protection covers up to the actual cash value of the car. Additionally, it covers rental charges imposed while the car is being repaired.

This coverage is primary, which means that your personal auto insurance is not involved if there are any claims. However, it does not cover injuries or damage to other property.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card

Howver, many travel credit cards include similar coverage and benefits — so you might already have travel insurance on a card in your wallet.

You should consider skipping Costco Travel Insurance coverage if you have a credit card that includes complimentary rental car protection, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card .

This card includes primary coverage for physical damage to or theft of a covered rental vehicle.

Upgrade options

When buying your policy, there are two upgrade options to increase your benefits.

Cancel For Any Reason: When you cancel at least three days before departure, you’ll receive up to 50% of your insured trip cost (maximum trip cost of $10,000).

Rental Car Damage Upgrade: Protect your rental car against collision damage, vandalism, windstorm, hail, fire or flood. Coverage is up to $50,000.

Comparison of Costco travel insurance plans

This chart highlights the coverage limits and benefits you’ll receive from the different Costco travel insurance plans.

How much does Costco travel insurance cost?

The price for travel insurance policies varies based on your destination, trip length, where you live and how much you spend per person. To lower your insurance premium, only include the prepaid, nonrefundable portion of your trip.

In this chart, you’ll find sample quotes for different types of trips. The scenarios vary by destination, length of trip and cost to highlight how premiums can change.

* Quoted rates as of July 2023.

When pricing out vacation package travel insurance, the primary factor in determining the premium is the covered amount. In these scenarios, a domestic trip offered a 10% discount compared to an international trip with the same trip cost. The length of the trip did not affect premiums, except when buying rental car coverage.

Which Costco travel insurance plan is best for me?

Since Costco travel insurance doesn’t offer different levels of coverage, the best policy for you depends on what type of vacation you’re planning. Travel insurance from Costco has one level of benefits and coverage limits for all members.

What isn’t covered by Costco travel insurance?

Travel insurance offers numerous protections that cover you, your travel companions and your nonrefundable, prepaid reservations. Before buying your policy, it’s important to understand what isn’t covered.

Pre-existing conditions. Injuries and illnesses that travelers already had before buying their policies are generally excluded from travel insurance. You may be eligible for a waiver of this exclusion, depending on your policy and travel details, as long as you buy coverage within 21 days of your initial trip payment.

Refundable reservations. Reservations that you can cancel and get a refund for are not covered. Simply contact the airline, hotel or other travel provider and cancel directly with them.

High-risk activities. Activities that take an unreasonable amount of risk of injury or death, like bungee jumping or parachuting, are excluded.

Intentional acts. Injuries, illness or losses resulting from self-inflicted actions, like drug use, intoxication or self-harm, are not covered.

Specifically designated events. Natural disasters, war, epidemics and similar events are excluded.

Is Costco travel insurance worth it?

While many travelers rely on their credit card travel insurance benefits, buying a separate travel insurance policy can be worth it.

Costco travel insurance offers higher coverage limits than what’s available through your credit card. The policies are reasonably priced, and you can easily get a free quote online in minutes.

If you’re ready to purchase, you can buy your policy online without speaking to an agent.

Costco is known for selling a variety of products and services at discounted prices. Like many of its services, Costco travel insurance is also sold through an established partner. Cover-More, a division of Zurich North America, issues all policies and is backed by Zurich Insurance Group, which has an A+ rating by A.M. Best and AA- rating from Standard and Poor’s.

Yes, travel insurance is available to all Costco members for any of your vacations. It is available whether you booked through Costco, directly with airlines or hotels, with a travel agent or through an online travel agency. Costco members receive preferred rates on Zurich products and services.

Costco Travel Cancellation Policy

So, you've planned out your dream vacation through Costco Travel—imagine sipping margaritas on a sun-soaked beach or exploring ancient temples halfway across the world.

Alex Cornici

But then life happens. Perhaps your boss decides to have a meltdown and suddenly can't live without you, or maybe your dog all of a sudden develops separation anxiety so bad that even your neighbor can't get him to stop freaking out.

Whatever may be the case, you now have the monumental task of canceling your trip in front of you.

No reason to freak out—I got your back!

So, let's break down exactly how Costco Travel's cancellation terms work so you can walk through this situation without sweating like crazy and losing too much money.

costco travel cruise cancellation policy

Knowing Costco Travel's Cancellation Policy

First off, Costco Travel is not just any other travel agency. At its core, it is actually a division of the Costco empire, known to sell giant jars of peanut butter and chicken that feeds an army.

But in this article, we'll be taking a closer look at their travel services, which are known for value-packed offers much like what their warehouse deals have in store for shoppers.

For every really great deal, there's usually some kind of catch—particularly when it comes to canceling a trip.

Thus, their cancellation policies can vary greatly depending on the type of trip you've booked. That said, here are some general guidelines:

If you've booked a vacation package, cancellation penalties often depend on how close you are to your departure date when you decide to pull the plug. Almost always, the penalties are heaviest if you're closer to the date of travel.

For example, in most places, if you cancel your booking within 24 hours prior to your check-in date, you will be charged a full fee. Contrarily, if it is more than a month in advance or so, you may get away with a token penalty or sometimes nothing at all.

You'll have to read the fine print in your particular package for actual terms. And trust me, the fine print is essential—skim it at your peril!

costco travel cruise cancellation policy

Flexibility with Costco's Vacation Packages

Now, in the event that you've purchased a vacation package —those deals that meld flights, hotels, and perhaps even a car rental—it does bring in some flexibility with Costco, but again, it's variable.

Here's the kicker: different suppliers have different rules. While Costco acts as your travel agent, they're bound by the policies of their partner companies. For example, if you've bought some sort of vacation package, including a major hotel chain stay, their cancellation policy will likely decide how much money you can get back—if any—and what kind of penalty it will involve.

The same thing applies for airline tickets within your travel package—it's essential to know the airlines tend to be pretty strict on their rules and regulations, particularly specifically nonrefundable tickets. You may end up losing quite a lot of money if you cancel way too close to the event.

But in many ways, Costco does try to help.

Some holiday packages have in-built flexibility. For example, many allow canceling or changing your booking with very nominal fees if it's done enough in advance. Others may give the ability to purchase travel insurance straight from Costco, covering cancellation fees under some conditions.

Pro tip: always look into travel insurance.

It may seem like another annoying extra expense, but when life throws you a curveball, you will be glad you invested.

About Costco Cruise Cancellations

Ah, Costco cruises —the floating hotels inclusive of food to entertainment. With Costco Travel, booking a cruise is usually the best deal in town. But cancel? That's another story.

Cruise lines have rigid cancellation policies, and these rules apply whether you're booking directly through the cruise line or via Costco Travel. Most cruise companies base charges on a sliding scale for cancellations.

This might mean that if you cancel 90 days or more prior to your sailing date, you are due for a total refund less some small fee. But cancel within 30 days of your sailing date, and you could be liable for as high as 100 percent of the cost of your cruise. Ouch.

It simply acts like a middleman in this regard. Costco itself does not increase the fees for cancellation; that will be laid down by each respective cruise line. More perks or future credits to travel, in such cases of cancellations, might be provided by Costco Travel but are left at their discretion.

Therefore, it's better to cancel a cruise, if you really are going to do so, sooner than later. And again, get travel insurance!

costco travel cruise cancellation policy

Flights and Rental Cars

Everyone knows that flights aren't refundable, unless you've explicitly booked a refundable fare—which, be real, most of us don't, since they cost a small fortune. That still holds true when you're booking through Costco Travel.

If you booked a nonrefundable fare and cancel, well, you're not getting a full refund. You might, however, get a credit with the airline that you can apply to future travel (usually within a year). Just note that some airlines might charge for rebooking.

Car rentals are generally more lenient. The majority of car rental companies let you call off a reservation up to 24-48 hours before your pickup time without penalty. But, as with all things travel, exceptions apply: if you have prepaid for a rental, you might have to pay a cancellation fee or you could just plain lose the prepayment.

Again, the key here is your specific terms and conditions of booking. At this regard, Costco Travel is very good — and, more importantly, understood before confirming your reservation; otherwise, you find yourself driving down a road of regrets!

The Role of Travel Insurance

If there's one thing you take away from this article, let that be this one: where cancellations are concerned, travel insurance is your best friend. Costco Travel offers an insurance option that will protect you from a variety of issues, including trip cancellation and delay to medical emergency.

It may let you recoup expenses in case you get sick, have a family emergency, or even work conflicts for people like me who don't own our own calendar. Be sure to read the policy carefully; there are always exclusions and limitations.

For example, "I just don't feel like going" is not a valid reason for insurance to kick in. For many other valid reasons, though, that insurance is going to help you get most of your money back instead of losing thousands.

Final Thoughts on Costco Travel Cancellation Policy

Always Read the Fine Print. That last line of the message. Some deals are good with Costco Travel, but with great economies comes the responsibility of knowing their cancellation policies.

It really is a mixed bag, and some bookings are more lenient than others that can be as flexible as a pizza that has gone through freezing. This is obvious, but do read the fine print on your travel package.

If you have any questions or problems understanding anything, Costco's travel agents are actually pretty helpful at explaining the finer points so that you feel happy with what's going on.

And, seriously, think about travel insurance—it's often worth the peace of mind. There is no fun in canceling a trip, but a little preparation and some strategic planning will make it significantly less painful.

And always remember: there's Costco's infamous rotisserie chicken to console you after the cancellation blues.

We have not used them, so can't speak to their policies or service.

However, please do NOT make insurance decisions based upon cost alone.  Make SURE that you understand the Terms & Conditions of any policy you are considering, and what you are getting or giving up by selecting one of them.

It's easy to get a "less expensive" policy.

But will it cover what you expected should you need it?

Yes I already saw what they covered & they even included cancel for any reasons- I think it was 50% off.

If I have a problem with the carrier, you can bet I will go back to Costco. I have been a Costco member for over 30 years & I trust (& hope) they will do the right thing if there's a problem. I ahve had them intervene with vendors before.

i don't need medical as much. Yes I have medicare- it is always primary, but my secondary is Kaiser Permanente & they cover international medical emergencies. I want it for medical evac & trip cancellation.

Only accept a recommendation from somebody who has attempted to file a claim.

Thanks

We also have a chase sapphire reserve card. So lots of insurance.

What GeezerCouple said.

Costco in Canada use Manulife for travel insurance, and we have gone online with Costco and Manulife directly and not found any significant different in the cost.

It is all about the policy inclusions and exclusions.

What pre-existing conditions do you have including recommended tests or procedures for the future.  What is the stable period for any condition.  There is so much to consider outside of price for insurance and every company has different language and inclusions and exclusions.

As much as I appreciate the comment that you should only take a recommendation from someone that has filed a claim - or attempted to - this is only a valid statement if your cancel or medical reason is the exact same.  Everyone's need for insurance can be vastly different.

Coverage for Costco Travel Insurance is good and reasonably priced (though while I've paid for it on trips, I've not had to make a claim on it), but only people who book travel through CostcoTravel are eligible to purchase it. You need to attach your Costco Travel Booking Number to the policy.

Not true in Canada.  I can purchase travel insurance through Costco for any travel I do.  It does not have to be travel booked through Costco Travel.

stoo bush you are incorrect- you do NOT need to book your cruise with Costco to get the insurance. How do I know? I just booked two cruises through a TA & got the Costco travel insurance!

Costco had better medical evac & medical premiums coverage. If you book through Costco travel cost is 5% of trip; if not 6.5%. Our TA price was less than Costco as we got better OBC & choice of cabins. Also they have a 24/7 travel number while it's hard to get through to Costco travel. Hopefully we won't need it but we always take travel insurance for cruises & international travel.

Curious how you were able to obtain this coverage without booking through Costco? The Application form requires a Costco travel booking number.

I called them directly. I got insurance for 2 cruises from them. But you can't book directly online unless part of the travel was booked through Costco. No parts of our trip was booked through Costco, so I was able to get it only by calling them. Be prepared to have your Costco number available.  The insurance is through Zurich. There's a phone number on costco travel insurance to call them. Don't call on a Monday as I was on hold for close to an hour. They are closed weekends. Hope this helps. They were cheaper with better coverage than most of the other insurance quotes I got. Plus you have the costco fall back if anything goes wrong

Thanks. I would be worried that since their website states that the travel insurance is Available exclusively for trips booked through Costco Travel  that could potentially be used as a reason to deny a claim.

I doubt that would be true as I have a policy. They charge 1.5% more for the policy if you don't have the travel booked with costco. So, since I paid more for nonCostco travel, I think your fears are unfounded. I think when word starts getting out about the costco insurance for non costco booked travel, a lot more people will start using it. I have confidence in Costco having been a member since the early 1990 that they will do the right thing- at least I hope!

I, too, have previously (2023) purchased insurance through Costco, but purchased the cruise elsewhere.  I believe I had to call Zurich to make the purchase.

NO you are incorrect. I did not book my cruises or an adventure to a bear/fishing lodge in the bush in AK with Costco and yet I was able to purchase the insurance. You must be a Costco member though which of course I am. Executive members also get 2% cash back on everything purchased except gas.

Geezer, of course I looked at the exemptions & I booked within 14 days of buying so our preexisting minor medical problems are covered. I research everything before we travel! Have done extensive traveling & lived abroad for 7 years. Trust me I do my homework. I also know that being a Costco member for over 30 years now that if I have a problem with a vendor I reach out to Costco. I know they vent their suppliers well.

We are leaving for a Celebrity cruise in less than 2 weeks so hopefully we won't have to use the insurance.

Geezer- are you a Costco member? Maybe that's why you don't know much about them. Costco does not sell junk! They would not be happy with the vendor if they don't do the right thing!

I have had problems with vendors in the past & Costco stepped right in. My husband says I would not accept moving anywhere unless a Costco is less than 15 minutes away! Love that store!

Hi catspaw1,

I'm a Costco member, too.

Did Costco give you a copy of the Celebrity invoice so you were able to insure the correct per person trip cost?

I don't know why, but some travel agents prevent their customers from seeing the travel supplier's invoice. This causes many people to not insure their correct per person trip costs which means that if they have a cancellation or interruption claim they don't get all their money back.

I went through a TA but not Costco. I insured just the cruise for the Galapagos. I had to call cover more who does the insurance today & change the trip dates since we have been switched to the Flora from the Xploration today. They confirmed travel does not have to be booked with Costco but you must be a Costco member. I have been a member for 32 years!

You must call the insurance provider directly & cannot do it online if you haven't booked the trip through Costco. I confirmed this with them today. Be aware I waited on hold for 25 minutes. We are going on a celebrity cruise in 12 days where I booked this insurance.  Hope we won't need it!

I decided to take a look at the Costco travel insurance, after reading this thread,  In a large font, at the top of the application form it says:

You can get it through Cover-More(Zurich) providing your Costco membership. You have to call their toll free number to do so.Just did it myself. On a side note, even if you only book part of your trip (Hotel,Car Rental, Flight) through Costco, you can book it on the website.Verified that as well when I called.

I agree with Tigerrag. We are costco executive members so booked the trip with them. Had the insurance for the Eclipse cruise we just returned from but did not have to use thankfully.

Sorry I mistated. We booked the trip through another TA,& not costco but was able to get the insurance because we are costco members.

Hank, As others have mentioned, you can only book the insurance Online if you booked your travel through Costco. If you did NOT book your travel through Costco, you can still book the Insurance through them, but you have to call them.

Hello. I have an Aug 2022 cruise booked with Costco. Paid mostly with a credit card and some Disney Gift Cards. What's the least painful way to cancel? I dread calling but I guess if I have to do it, I should it before booking opens for summer 2023...

You probably have to use COSTCO since they are your TA, don't think DCL will cancel it.

Costco has a cancellation form that you can fill out. Once you fill it out and submit it they will cancel it for you and send you a confirmation, or if they need more info for some reason, they will call you to get any clarification that they need. So no, you don't have to call if you go the cancellation form route.

Thanks, All. Yes, I should've clairfied that I know I have to contact Costco to do the canceling since I booked w/ them. This is the form I got a month ago but it seemed like that was just for cancelations prior to March 30th: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeWGNGlMDS_gvHr9nNg6oza4UDfYdqCyDXArYI-OVMBEm4LXA/viewform Has anyone had success using that form recently? Can anyone confirm that they had no trouble being refunded to a credit card AND Disney Gift Cards? Thanks!
