33 vs 35 Tires Side By Side Comparison Here Are the Facts

If you have a 4×4 vehicle, you could be thinking about giving it an upgrade… say, changing to bigger tires to get you ready to take on more challenging off-road driving. But, which tire size should you choose? The most common options are the 35” and 33” tires.

The 33-inch tires are the most preferred because they are just enough for off-road trails and most overlanding terrains. However, they might not be the best for extreme off-roading. In that case, is the 35-inch tires the best choice?

Is there so much of a difference between 33 and 35 tires? Let’s compare 33 vs 35 tires side by side to help you pick what’s right for your ride.

33 vs 35 Tires Differences Explained

  • The obvious difference between these tires is their height/diameter, the smaller one being 33-inches, whereas the bigger one is 35-inch.
  • When it comes to the circumference, the 33-inch tire offers 103.1 inches, while that of the 35-inch tire is 109.9 inches.
  • Once installed onto your car or truck, 35-inch tires add only one inch more than the 33-inch tires at the axle.
  • The 33-inch tires are recommended for off-road trails, whereas 55-inch tires work effectively for extreme off-roading.

These differences show that fitting your car with 35-inch tires delivers a slight lift of one inch compared to using 33-inch tires. So, if you are looking for extreme off-roading, the 35-inch tires would come in handy.

However, the 33-inch tires would be the better option if you are driving on standard off-road trails, or if you just want something for aesthetic purposes. So, we must say, there is no definite winner here because it depends on what you want.

Keep reading as we go in detail about 33 vs 35 tires side by side comparison. From this, you should be able to understand the differences, including their installation in different cars.

Closer Look at 33-Inch and 35-Inch Tires: Impact on Your Car’s Drivetrain

What impact do the 33-inch tires or 35-inch tires have when you fit them on your vehicle?

Apart from the new height, they will put more weight, which could ultimately strain the drivetrain. Because of this, it is important to look ahead and factor in a number of things, from differential strength to gear ratios, before deciding the right types of tires.

So, let’s compare the main pros and cons of each.

33-Inch Tires

  • Impressive traction
  • There is limited strain on the drive train
  • Limited impact on speedometer
  • Can make your vehicle look really impressive
  • Only limited adjustments will be required
  • Returns poor fuel economy
  • Could make your vehicle sluggish

35-Inch Tires

  • Gives your car impressive off-road capability
  • Raises the car by about one-inch
  • The elevated outlook makes your car appealing
  • Larger surface area of the wheels helps to improve stability
  • Returns very poor fuel economy
  • A lot of cutting might be required
  • 35-inch tires cause a lot of strain on the drivetrain
  • Very expensive

33 vs 35 Tires Side By Side: How Do They Impact the Speedometer?

Another notable difference in using the 33-inch and 35-inch tires is the impact on the speedometer. So, how do the wheels impact it?

When developing any car, manufacturers test every component for high accuracy. The speedometer, therefore, is timed to give an accurate reading with the stock tires. Because the new tires, whether they’re 33 or 35 inches, are adding to the circumference, the speedometer’s accuracy is likely to get compromised.

So, what is the deviation between the two tires? At lower speeds, the difference is little and can easily go unnoticed. For example, after installing the new wheels, and holding all other factors—from the engine power to traction constant—the speedometer for the car with 35-inch wheels will read 21.3mph while that with 33-inch wheels will read 20mph.

The same trend continues even at higher speeds. By the time you hit 80 mph with the car on 33-inch wheels, the one running on 35-inch tires will be cruising at 85.4mph.

However, most people working on off-road excursions are less obsessed with speed, and they are more interested in safety and torque.

Fitting 33-Inch Tires: How Much Lift is Needed?

How challenging is it to fit 33-inch tires in your 4×4? We must say it is pretty challenging, but it depends on the vehicle. First, the work depends on the vehicle design, but the most important is whether it is a Solid Front Axle (SFA) or independent front suspension (IFS) vehicle.

If your car comes with SFA, the amount of work required will not be as much as another person with a car using IFS. A car with IFS will require a minimum of 2.5-inches lift to install 33-inch tires. This is not all. A lot of cutting might also be required on the fenders.

The best way to get this job right is to work with a professional specializing in car transformation. If you own a Silverado, here’s our guide for adding 33-inch tires .

Here are the Minimum Requirements for 35-Inch Tires

The 35-inch tires are larger and will offer more ground clearance compared to the 33-inch type. These tires are huge and will work more effectively when fitted in large SUVs and trucks as opposed to smaller cars.

Unlike when you are installing 33-inch tires, the lift required for the 35-inch tires is pretty high. The best approach is to upgrade the suspension by a minimum of 3.5 inches.

Again, the installation will depend on the vehicle design. If the vehicle uses SFA, the installation will be straightforward, but it’s going to be more complex if it uses IFS.

The most important requirements for installing the 35-inch tires include fender trimming and re-engineering the differentials. You might also require changing the rims and removing the crash bars.

Unless you are a mechanic, this is a procedure we would not recommend doing on your own. Get a professional to assist with the process for better results.

Fitting 33-Inch Tires in Different Cars

After comparing the requirements for installing 33-inch or 35-inch tires, it is time to get down to work. The process of installing the two tires is the same, but using 35-inch will require more lifting than the 33-inch type. So, let’s look at the installation process on different cars. We will take the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Ranger.

Fitting 33-Inch Tires on a Ford Ranger vs Jeep Wrangler

Ford ranger.

For demonstration, let’s take the 2019 Ford Ranger, which uses the stock 30.1-inch tires. The truck will also comfortably take the 33-inch tires, but some modifications on crash bars and backspacing will be required.

First, make sure to increase the backspacing to leave an adequate area for the vehicle suspension and steering system. Then, you need to remove or modify the crash bars. Finally, install 20+ offset wheels, and that should be enough to take the 33-inch wheels. This minimal work will offer you the targeted lift, but it is not strong enough and is recommended for aesthetic and limited off-road driving purposes only.

For extreme off-road driving enthusiasts, additional work will be required. Particularly, you should install stronger suspension and bigger spacers to prevent the wheel from rubbing the spindle. Your mechanic might also recommend a wheel with a higher negative offset.

Jeep Wrangler

Next is the Jeep Wrangler. Unlike the Ford Ranger, the Wrangler has ample space, and installing 33-inch tires is a lot simpler. So, let’s check the required modifications.

A closer look at the Wrangler shows that its fenders have ample clearance, making upgrades easy, whether with the 33-inch or 35-inch tires. However, the new tires are wider and will require wider wheels. If you install the new wider tires on the stock tires, there is a risk of more rubbing.

If you want to use the Wrangler for extreme off-roading, additional work is recommended. Particularly, you should install heavier suspension of about 2-3-inches and spacers to eliminate rubbing.

The impressive thing about the Jeep Wrangler is that you do not require a lot of cutting because it uses SFA, which does not interfere with the steering and suspension system. Check out our list of the best 35-inch tires for Jeep Wrangler .

33 vs 35 Tires Side By Side: The Winner Is…

When aiming to give your car some lift with new and bigger tires, the two options we have discussed in this post are okay, but for different cars.

Let’s put it this way, the two tire categories were designed for different jobs, and they perform these jobs well.

If you are looking forward to extreme off-road driving, the 35-inch tires will be a great pick. The tires provide a higher lift for your car, and that might be all that you need to avoid getting stuck when going out rock crawling. However, these tires work best for larger SUVs and trucks and might not be recommended for smaller 4WD cars.

When it comes to the 33-inch tires, they are what most people consider the “perfect” pick for most 4X4 cars. These tires provide excellent traction and aesthetics for your vehicle. However, they are considered the best for regular as opposed to extreme off-roading.

For example, if you fancy going out camping or game driving on rough trails, the 33-inch tires will be excellent. However, this means that it might be impossible to get the thrill that comes with extreme activities, such as rock crawling.

Is there much of a difference between 33″ and 35″ tires?

When you fit 35-inch tires, you get one-inch clearance at the axle compared to fitting the 33-inch tires. This can be very important, especially when going off-road because it can define the difference between getting hung up and hitting rocks that can damage your diff. Look at the drive train alongside the tire sizes when working on lifting a car.

Are the 35-inch tires worth the cost and time?

This largely depends on why you want to upgrade. For a person who loves extreme off-roading, the 35-inch tires offer more ground clearance and are crucial for him.

Again, most people consider small tires to be out of place and weird, especially when using a vehicle such as a Jeep Wrangler, Volkswagen Amok, Ford Ranger, or Chevy trucks.

We must also say that smaller tires are not to be trusted when driving through rough terrain, wet surface, or frozen ground. So, upgrading to 35-inch tires is worth it.

How much impact do 35-inch tires have on gas mileage?

You can expect about 1-2 MPG difference after upgrading to the 35-inch tires. However, this also depends on other factors, including the adjustments and new accessories added to the vehicle.

The larger the new tire diameter, circumference, and width, the greater the unsprung weight, which pulls down the car’s fuel economy, performance, and gearing. You can read more about this in our post about bigger tires and their impact on gas mileage .

How much lift is required to install 33-inch tires on my truck?

If you have an IFS (independent front suspension) truck, a minimum of 2.5-3-inch lift with additional trimming of fenders will be required. But if your car has a Solid Front Axle (SFA), it will accommodate a 33-inch tire more easily with fewer modifications.

Final Thoughts

In this 33 vs 35 tires side by side comparison post, we have captured the most important things to think about before dropping additional unsprung load into your car. The most important thing to understand is how the adjustments will affect your car and its performance. From higher fuel economy to additional strain on your drivetrain, are you ready for these consequences?

Remember that the changes needed to fit the 33” or 35” tires to your car will also depend on the car and intended use. If you have a Solid Front Axle car, fitting the new 33” or 35” should be a lot easier compared to another with independent front suspension (IFS). No matter the required adjustments, we recommend that you have a professional mechanic help with the job.

Ever looked at the numbers and letters on your tire and felt like you’re trying to crack an enigma code? Ever wondered why tire sizes are so complex and how to find out the size you need? Well, you’re not alone.

Decoding tire sizes  can feel like an advanced math class, but it’s a lot simpler than you might think.

What Size Is A 33 Inch Tire A 33-inch tire isn’t a specific size in terms of metric tire measurements, but rather, it refers to the overall diameter of the tire. Multiple tire sizes like 285/75R16, 285/70R17, or 295/55R20 can equate to a 33-inch diameter depending on the width and aspect ratio of the tire.

In this article, we’ll demystify tire sizes, helping you decode those cryptic numbers on your tire sidewalls. We’ll dive into understanding aspect ratios, explain common tire size conversions for a 33-inch diameter, and guide you through using a tire size calculator specifically designed to help you find the right tire by overall height.

Let’s take a closer look.

The tire size calculator is a fantastic resource to help you narrow down your options. It gives you a ballpark idea of what sizes could add up to the overall tire height you want, on the size rim you plan to use.

The calculator isn’t meant to give you a definitive answer, but rather to help guide your search and make your tire shopping experience a bit easier. It’s like having a compass in the wild—it won’t tell you exactly where to go, but it’ll help you figure out the right direction.

How to Use the Calculator

Using the tire size calculator is easy. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  • Enter Tire Diameter : Start by entering the tire diameter you want (in inches) into the appropriate box. If you’re aiming for a 33 inch tire, you’d input ’33’.
  • Enter Wheel Size : Next, input your wheel size (in inches). This is the diameter of the wheel that your tire is going to be mounted on. For example, if you have a 16 inch wheel, you’d input ’16’.
  • Adjust Section Width : Now you’ll see a slider for section width. This is the width of the tire in millimeters. Slide this until you find the section width you want.
  • Get the Result : Once you’ve input all these details, the calculator will generate the aspect ratio that, together with the section width and wheel size you’ve entered, gives you a tire with the overall diameter you want.

A Note About the Tire Size Calculator

Firstly, the calculator can spit out tire sizes that aren’t manufactured. This usually happens if you input unrealistic tire heights or wheel sizes. Remember, the calculator does the math based on the numbers you put in, but it can’t know whether those numbers make sense for real-world tires.

Also, the calculator might not always be 100% accurate. Tire sizes can vary a little between different manufacturers and even different tire models from the same manufacturer. For instance, one company’s 285/75R16 might not have the exact same dimensions as another’s.

Once your determine what size tire you need you’ll need to make sure it’ll fit on your wheel. A 17″ wheel, for instance, is available in different widths. A narrow wheel is best for narrower tires and obviously wider wheels work best for wide tires.

This calculator allows you to easily determine the optimal tire width for your wheel width. You can usually find the width of your current wheels etched or molded onto the back side of the wheel somewhere.

Let’s say you’re looking at a tire and see something like “285/75R16” printed on the side. That’s the size of your tire. Each part of that code tells you something about the tire’s size and type.

Let’s break it down to see what each number means.

The Metric Tire Size

Metric tire size is broken down into three parts: section width, aspect ratio, and wheel diameter.

  • Section Width  – The first number (e.g., 285 in our example) is the section width. This is the width of the tire from one side to the other when it’s not on the vehicle, measured in millimeters. So, a 285 tire is 285 millimeters wide.
  • Aspect Ratio  – The second number (75 in our example) is the aspect ratio. This isn’t a straight-up measurement, like the section width. It’s a percentage that tells you how tall the tire’s sidewall is compared to its width. So if our tire has an aspect ratio of 75, that means the height of the tire’s sidewall is 75% of the tire’s width.
  • Wheel Diameter  – The last number (16 in our example) is the wheel diameter. This is the size of the wheel that the tire fits on, measured in inches. So, a tire that says R16 is designed to fit on a 16-inch wheel.

Diameter in Inches

Sometimes, you’ll see tire sizes given in inches instead of metric measurements. This is common for truck and off-road vehicle tires. If a tire has a “33” in its size, that’s its diameter in inches. So, a 33-inch tire is roughly the same diameter as a 285/75R16 tire.

But remember, just because two tires have the same diameter doesn’t mean they’re the same size. Other factors like section width and aspect ratio can make two tires with the same diameter very different in actual size.

Most tires will have a code that looks something like this: “P285/75R16 114S”. Let’s break down what each part of that code means.

  • Type of Vehicle  – The letter at the very start of the code tells you what type of vehicle the tire is meant for. In our example, ‘P’ stands for passenger vehicle. You might also see ‘LT’ for light trucks, ‘T’ for temporary spare, and so on.
  • Section Width  – Just like we learned earlier, the first number (285 in our example) is the section width. This number is giving us the width of the tire in millimeters.
  • Aspect Ratio  – The second number (75 here) is the aspect ratio. This tells us that the height of the sidewall is 75% of the section width.
  • Construction  – The letter that follows the aspect ratio tells us about the tire’s construction. The ‘R’ in our example means the tire is a radial tire, which is the most common type of tire today.
  • Wheel Diameter  – Next up is the wheel diameter (16 in this case). This tells us the size of the wheel that the tire is designed to fit, in inches.
  • Load Index  – The next number (114 here) is the load index. This number represents the maximum weight that the tire can safely carry when fully inflated.
  • Speed Rating  – The last letter in our example (‘S’) is the speed rating. This letter tells us the maximum speed at which the tire can carry a load corresponding to its load index.

Now that we’ve mastered how to read tire sizes and what they mean, let’s dive a little deeper into one of the key parts of the tire size: the aspect ratio. This little number plays a big role in how your tire performs, so it’s worth understanding.

Aspect Ratio Defined

First things first, what is the aspect ratio? In simple terms, the aspect ratio is a percentage that tells you how tall the tire’s sidewall is compared to its width. It’s represented by the second number in the tire size. For example, in a tire size of 285/75R16, the 75 is the aspect ratio. This means the height of the sidewall is 75% of the width of the tire.

The Role of Aspect Ratio

You might be wondering, why does the aspect ratio matter? Well, it can have a big impact on your driving experience.

  • Driving Comfort : Tires with a higher aspect ratio (meaning taller sidewalls relative to their width) tend to provide a more comfortable, smoother ride. That’s because the extra height in the sidewall allows it to absorb more shock from bumps and potholes.
  • Handling : On the flip side, tires with a lower aspect ratio (shorter sidewalls) typically provide better handling and cornering ability. That’s because there’s less sidewall to flex when you’re turning, which can make the vehicle more responsive.

Choosing the Right Aspect Ratio

Choosing the right aspect ratio really depends on what you’re looking for in your driving experience.

  • If comfort is your top priority, you might want to look for a tire with a higher aspect ratio.
  • If you want your vehicle to have sharp handling and responsiveness, a lower aspect ratio might be the way to go.

Keep in mind that the right aspect ratio can also depend on your vehicle. Some vehicles are designed to work best with a certain range of aspect ratios. Always check your vehicle’s manual or consult with a tire professional to make sure you’re getting the right tires for your vehicle.

off road tires

Okay, so now you’re a whiz at reading tire sizes and understanding aspect ratios. But, how does this all fit into the question of figuring out the metric tire size that equals a 33 inch overall diameter? Let’s untangle this thread together.

Conversion Basics

Here’s the deal: a tire’s overall diameter is just the height of the tire from the ground to the top of the tread. Sounds simple, right? But when we talk about a 33 inch tire, we’re usually talking about its overall diameter.

While the tire’s diameter can be measured directly in inches, metric tire sizes (like 285/75R16) give you the width, aspect ratio, and wheel size – but not the overall diameter. So to figure out the metric size equivalent to a 33 inch diameter, you need to do a bit of math.

Examples of 33 Inch Tire Conversions

But don’t worry, we’ve done the number crunching for you for a few common tire sizes:

  • 285/75R16 : This tire size has an overall diameter very close to 33 inches. Here, 285 mm is the section width, 75 is the aspect ratio, and 16 inches is the wheel diameter.
  • 285/70R17 : This is another metric tire size that is approximately 33 inches in diameter. In this case, the tire fits a 17 inch wheel.
  • 295/55R20 : This tire size also has an overall diameter of around 33 inches and fits on a 20 inch wheel.

Common Questions Answered

To answer some commonly searched questions:

  • Are 33 inch tires the same as 285?  Not exactly. A 33 inch tire refers to the overall diameter, while 285 is the section width in millimeters of the tire. A 285/75R16 or a 285/70R17 tire would both be approximately 33 inches in diameter.
  • What size is a 33 inch tire on a 20 inch rim?  A 295/55R20 tire would be approximately 33 inches in diameter and would fit on a 20 inch rim.
  • What size is a 33 inch tire on an 18 inch wheel?  A 285/60R18 tire would be approximately 33 inches in diameter and would fit on an 18 inch wheel.

Understanding these conversions can help when you’re shopping for new tires, especially if you’re switching between different types of tires or looking to change your tire size.

‍ To refer to tires as “33’s is pretty common among car and truck enthusiasts. This is their floatation size. But what size are 33s tires?

33s mean the tire is 33 inches in diameter. Tire size is usually illustrated through millimeter size and aspect ratio. But when someone says they have a 33 inch tire on their vehicle, what they really are saying is that the tire is that tire is 33 inches in diameter.

‍ Tire Sizes

Tire size is a pretty complicated subject since there are so many numbers involved. But once you get the gist of tire sizing, it becomes pretty easy to understand.

There are two ways to measure tires. The first measuring method is metric and the second method is floatation. Metric tire sizes start with the numbers in millimeters and there are four different categories of metric tire sizes: Passenger (P), Light Truck (LT), Special Trailer (ST), and Temporary (T).

The class of tire is usually imprinted on the tire before the tire size. For example, LT285/75/16. The first number on the tire size is the section width of a tire. This is a measurement of the width of the tire, basically from the sidewall to the sidewall.

The next number in a tire size is a percentage and is the percentage of the width of the tire. It’s a number that’s used to determine the height of the tire’s sidewall. And the last number is the tire diameter or the size of the wheel. The wheel diameter is usually separated by an “R”, meaning the tire is “radial ply” in comparison with bias ply.

Radial tires are the most common type of tire on the market today. Light truck tires have additional plies of woven nylon steel. These additional layers or plies construct what is known as the carcass of the tires. The more plies a tire has the stronger a tire is and has more capacity to hold a higher air pressure.

Now with metric sizes out of the way, let’s look at what flotation sizes are. Flotation sizes directly relate to the tire’s size in inches. The first number in flotation sizes is the height of the tires in inches, the second number is the width of the tire in inches, and the third number is the wheel size or the rim diameter.

For example, if you have a 35 inch by 12.50, 17. This means the height of the tire is 35 inches, 12 and a half inches wide, and fits a 17 inch wheel. So when someone says they have 33 inch tires they are referring to flotation sizes.

What Are 33’s

When someone says they have 33’s, they are referring to the overall diameter of the tire. This means the rim diameter plus the width of a sidewall. In flotation sizes, this is measured in inches compared to metric which is measured in millimeters and percentages.

Flotation sizes and their accepted metric equivalent size can be confusing but both numbers should be stamped into the sidewall of a tire. In tire shops, the more modern custom is to use metric sizes.

But metric sizes don’t take into account the actual diameter of the tire. They just give the percentage of the tread width which can be confusing. Both measurement systems do take the rim diameters into account. But metric size tires go about it in a more abstract way.

So when someone says they have 33’s, it’s not exactly clear as to what that means because 33’s can fit onto a number of different wheel sizes. For example, 33’s can fit onto a 16, 17, 18, or a 19 inch rim. This changes the sidewall height, but does not change the overall tire height.

The metric system would measure each of these tires differently as well.  For example, the percentage of the sidewall height would decrease as the width of the rim increases.

When someone says they have 33 inch tires on their vehicle, it’s basically saying they have 75% of 285mm’s on their vehicle. It’s just that 33’s are easier to compute. So 33’s come in many different forms.

Listing out all the possible sizes of 33’s would be endless since there are so many factors to take into account such as wheel rim surface, rim width, whether the vehicle has a lift kit,  and radial construction of the tire.

But one thing you can be sure of is that 33’s belong on light trucks. The 33 inch tire is usually not found on 4 door sedans. They are most commonly used on off road vehicles such as SUVs and trucks. These tires are built to handle rough terrains.

If you are unsure of what size tire to get for your vehicle you can usually find the information in your vehicle’s owner manual. Or you can get the size of the tire information from the tires that are currently placed on your tires.

Speed Ratings

Tire speed ratings are ratings for your tire that recommend the max speed of a tire. All tires are meant to go the same speed as each other. If you exceed the speed rating on some tires, you risk the chance of tire deterioration and blowouts.

Tire speed ratings refer to the maximum speed rating a tire can go. Tire speed ratings are usually displayed on the side of a tire in the form of a letter such as “S” or “H”. This number is stamped into the sidewall of a tire.

Tire speed rating is figured out by the manufacturer through a series of tests. The tests put the tires through different stressors and see how well the tire holds up under that speed. If the tire starts to fail while going above a certain speed rating, its rating is dropped down.

The “S” in a 33S tire means that the tire’s speed rating is 112 mph. This means that a 33 inch tire can reach up to 112 miles per hour without failing. That’s pretty fast for a large tire but these tires are constructed with extra plies so the speed rating should not shock you.

This doesn’t mean the tire will automatically fail if you go above 112 mph. It just means that it’s recommended you don’t go above that speed rating for long periods of time while driving on that tire.

Disneyland’s Club 33 Tour

What is Club 33?

Tucked away between the stores of new orleans square is disneyland is an exclusive, private dining club not known by many. first opening in 1967, it was the only location inside disneyland that served alcohol to its patrons. to keep the atmosphere family friendly, walt kept the parks dry., where did it get its name, since the establishment would need a liquor license, it would need an address under california law. club 33 gained its name simply from its address 33 royal street in new orleans square in disneyland.  nestled just above the pirates of the caribbean attraction and next to walt’s apartment, the club’s unassuming entrance was known among the private club members as the “green door.” this remained the entrance for many years until it was renovated in 2014, doubling its size, and the entrance was relocated to the court of angels nearby. the green door with ornate club 33 sign remains, but if you knock, no one will answer., it’s purpose, the club was created after walt’s successful vip lounges at the new york world’s fair. it was more suitable to meet with corporate sponsors in a private venue than at the former red wagon inn restaurant., unfortunately walt passed away 6 months before the club opened. at that time, memberships were offered to a select few individuals as well., i had the the luck to dine at club 33 for my 40th birthday  the original club 33 at disneyland was created by walt, though he never had a chance to enjoy it himself. today there are other club 33’s located in various disney parks worldwide.  members pay $33,000 to join and there is an annual fee of $15,000. the pricing keeps the club very exclusive. you can only enter the club as a member, or as a guest of a member., the membership fee also includes annual park passes, 50 single day admission tickets, 5 private vip tours per year, fast passes (disney genie+ passes), access to all of the exclusive lounges and restaurants, exclusive access to club 33 merchandise and a tour of the disneyland resort dream suite., ready to sign up it’s not that easy… membership is limited and it will take patience. in 2007 the wait list was so long that they would not add any more names on the list until 2012  the wait list is an average 4 year wait., before you arrive, i was lucky enough to be invited to join a member, and other guests, for my 40th birthday. i really must thank my dear friend von enselman who made it all happen for me. what a truly magical birthday gift, this elegant experience does come with rules. 1) the dress code. as a fine dining establishment you could not expect to arrive in park wear to club 33.  we enjoyed the parks during the day with our family and left the kids with a family friend while we dressed up for a night on the town.  i’m not going to lie, it was wonderful to see our group arrive at the gates of disneyland dressed to the nines.  one of our guests were asked to wear a shawl when her dress (which was tasteful) was found a bit too revealing.  dresses or slacks with a blouse for women and dress pants and collared shirts for men are the norm. 2) photos. you may take photos but no video is allowed any more. and we were informed that we were not allowed to take photos in the restrooms  i thought that was odd until i used the restroom and saw how gorgeous they were. i can see how people would be tempted to snap a pic there., the exterior.

The Downstairs Lobby

Guests enter into the court des anges (court of angels), an open air courtyard, where they can say hello to their guests, enjoy a rest at tables in the outdoor courtyard and the sound of the fountain..

Guests then ascend the winding stairs adorned with two angels, to the upstairs lobby where they are greeted by a beautifully chandelier lighting the room filled with elegant touches and a beautiful harpsichord, and a turkey vulture. Yes, a vulture!

You may think this was a reject from the enchanted tiki room. but this is disneyland after all, and of course there’s an animatronic vulture in the lobby. before the remodel, this was known as the trophy room. the room was outfitted with various microphones and the vulture would respond to conversations of the guests. although there are many rumors around this peering turkey, it was never used due to privacy concerns., the harpsichord is a hand painted scene of new orleans harbor..

Le Salon Nouveau – The Lounge

A visit to club 33 is an experience to be savored. we spent the entire evening here.  our journey started with a visit to the the le salon nouveau lounge. greeted by live jazz music, an attentive waiter and a bar manual from “hotel marceline” (marceline, missouri is where walt lived as a child), we enjoyed a great cocktail menu. a beautiful blue stained glass window was illuminated above the room filled with tables and cozy velvet lined booths tucked in among the walls. all very reminiscent of an evening new orleans jazz club.  a great place for a relaxing drink to start the experience., after the renovation the beautiful elevator that used to take guests upstairs from the entry area was displayed on the lounge. it’s absolutely beautiful. and of course there’s a walt story behind the elevator. when walt and his wife lillian, were on holiday in france, walt saw a similar lift in french hotel. he offered to purchase the lift from the hotel but was declined. he set his imagineers to get to work to create one themselves and they headed to the hotel to study the lift so they could replicate it for club 33., le grand salon restaurant, after our relaxing visit to the lounge. we were escorted into le grand salon, the dining area. we had a large group dining with us tonight so we had a lovely table in the center of the room.  nothing is rushed for this experience.  after settling in and enjoying our drinks and conversation, we were given our drink and dining menus for the evening..

The End of a Magical Evening

After a truly spectacular experience with a wonderful group of people, we all left through the court of angels. the stars shone through the night sky above us in the open court yard. we said our fond farewells and my husband and i strolled over in our dressy clothes to take a ride on space mountain to top off the evening. we then headed back to rescue our babysitter who had 7 children in a hotel suite. she had the littlest sleeping on her, most of the older children were asleep, my youngest lay on the floor passed out from too much fun, and my oldest was of course awake. as a parent, i knew my kids were happy and well cared for while we had the chance to experience club 33. here’s to terrie wepner for offering to stay behind while we enjoyed the night out as adults..

What happens when you combine unconventional thinking, a revolutionary new shape, and all new construction? Performance unlike anything you've seen from a mallet.

ELEVEN TOUR LINED CS PUTTER

The Eleven Tour Lined CS is a center shafted face-balanced mallet best suited for golfers with strokes that have minimal face rotation and arc. This putter features a super high MOI, forward CG, multi-material head design with our new Stroke Lab shaft, legendary White Hot insert, and tour preferred single alignment line.

New Odyssey Golf Eleven Tour Lined Center Shaft Putter 33" 3

FEATURES & BENEFITS

New Eleven Shape

The Eleven shape advances the forgiveness and alignment properties of our major winning Ten model. It’s designed to help you properly frame the ball with the right alignment at address, along with high MOI for better accuracy.

Forward CG & High Inertia

Using a multi-material design, we’ve moved the CG forward nearly ¼ of an inch over other leading mallets while increasing inertia substantially. This creates improved performance, speed control, spin control, speed consistency on off-center hits, and a much tighter downrange dispersion for putts that stay on line.

Super Lightweight TPU Sole Insert

This insert helps us improve the sound and feel, while adding very little weight to the center of the putter head.

Crowned Design

The crowned design allows us to finish the shape and provides a blank canvas for various alignment aides. Plain, lined, or Triple Track versions are available.

White Hot Insert

The most popular putter insert of all time is back with the original formulation, feel, sound, and performance.

Red Stroke Lab Shaft

The newest generation of our proven multi-material Stroke Lab shaft features even better performance. You’ve probably seen the world’s best players use it on TV, especially on Sunday afternoons! By shortening the steel section, we reduced the weight by seven grams. We also made it stiffer and more stable for even more consistency in your stroke…and your performance.

Putter Length for Short/Tall Players (33” Vs 34” Vs 35”)

Putter Length for short and tall players

What Putter Length Do You Need?

Players need a putter that offers the best control of direction and distance. The length of the putter that you need depends on your height. Often, short golfers fare well with short putters ranging from 33 and 34 inches in length. Tall players that are 6ft or taller, should use 35 inch putters.

Table of Contents

However, some golfers find the reverse to be true. This is why it’s important to test both short and long putters to see which length works best for you.

To determine the correct length of your putter, position yourself in the putting stance or address position and hang your arms freely by the side.

Request someone to take the measurement from just above your hands to the ground. This measurement represents the size of the putter that you will need.

How to Tell If Your Putter Length is Too Long

As a rule, if you find yourself placing your hands quite down the putter shaft when you’re in the putting stance, it’s a sign that you have a putter that is too long for you. The following are some tips that golfers have for you to determine if your putter length is too long.

  • Your elbows tend to be crooked and your arc will become flatter when you place your hands over the putter shaft.
  • The putter head will get positioned away from you causing the toe of the putter to be off the ground. This makes you aim towards the left of the target.
  • Your eyes will be to the inside of the golf ball and inclined towards the heel side rather than have your eye line above the putting target line.
  • You will be positioning yourself away from the ball more than the actual required distance.

It’s worth noting that there are tall players who opt for long putters and choking down on the shaft rather than buy short putters of that size. However, tall golfers with long arms are more comfortable with putters that are longer than the standard size.

Some golfers are slightly shorter than 6’3” and prefer using a 32.5” putter while there are 6’1” and 6’6” players who use putters with lengths 34.5” and 35.5” respectively.

On the other hand, some players are 5’11” tall and prefer playing with a 28” putter while bending over too much.

Similarly, while some 6’ golfers use 34” putters, there are others of the same height who use slightly longer putters.

Some golfers use a 33” putter and choke down at 31”. A few 5’10” players prefer putters of size between 33” and 33.5”.

How to Tell if Your Putter Length is Too Short

Just as is the case with long putters, there are some giveaway signs that indicate the putter you’re using is too short for you. Here are some of those indicators that are worth checking out based on players’ experiences.

  • Your hands tend to be at least partly beyond the end of the shaft of the putter.
  • Your eyes will make contact outside of the golf ball rather than be over it.
  • You will be closer to the ball than necessary resulting in the putter heel getting lifted and causing you to aim towards the right of the target.
Although short putters are best suited for short players, some tall players are also comfortable with putters of less than the standard size.

There are players of 5’9” height who have better control with 33” and 34” putters that are shorter than standard size putters by just one or two inches.

On the other hand, some of them opt for these putters and choke down by a couple of inches. Having said that, there are 5’10” players who fare well with their 31.5” putters.

At the same time, there are 6’1” and 6’6” tall golfers who are equally comfortable with putters of 34” size. Some 6’1” and 6’ players feel that they perform best using a 33” putter or slightly shorter ones at 32” and 32.5”.

However a few golfers that I meet have extended the size of their putters and flattened their lies accordingly.

There are 6’2”, 6’3” and even 6’6” golfers who are comfortable with their 33” putters because they find their arms are positioned naturally with these shorter putters.

Long Vs Short Putters

When it comes to the correct length of golf putters, it’s very true that no one size fits all. Both long and short putters have their pros and cons on the golf course.

Advantages of a Short Putter:

  • Short putters have helped some tall players fare better and deliver better putts per round and per GIR.
  • A short putter is easy for golfers who are struggling to keep on a straight line as well as have their eyes over the ball.
  • A short putter is beneficial for players with long arms because it helps to hang their arms quite freely. This results in getting rid of the tension present in the stroke and hitting shots as far as possible.
  • A short putter helps in shoulder rotation to a certain extent and increases the consistency of impact positioning on the clubface while preventing movement of players’ elbows and wrists.
  • A short putter is ideal for short golfers because they will not have to bend forward too much to use the same.

Disadvantages of a Short Putter:

  • A short putter can cause a backache for tall players because they have to bend forward to hit the ball.
  • A short putter tends to be heavy at the head and result in pulled putts.
  • A short putter may make players have their eyes outside of the ball.
  • A short putter makes it difficult for some golfers in controlling the distance when they use it for long putts.

Advantages of a Long Putter:

  • A long putter is easy to anchor against the body and produce a pendulum stroke because the wrist action over the golfclub tends to be minimized.
  • A long putter makes the golfer retain an upright posture that in turn assists them in visualizing the line to the hole better than the short putter.
  • A long putter allows long hitters to do better with putting strokes compared to a normal putter.
  • A long putter does away with the need for bending forward and hence produces less strain on a golfer’s back. As a result, it’s a good choice for those who practice for long hours.
  • A long putter is useful for those who are trying to hit sidesaddle shots by putting from just one side and draining a few putts.
  • A long putter helps in keeping unwanted up and down movement of the club at bay.

Disadvantages of a Long Putter:

  • A long putter is not very beneficial for skilled putters as it works better for those who are less skilled.
  • A long putter is not advantageous for golfers who would like to putt from a distance of over 10 feet. This makes it challenging to use for medium putts and long putts.
  • A long putter can cause players to push their aim to the left of the target rather than on it.
  • A long putter often renders a lesser feel and is more difficult to control when compared to a standard size putter.

Using a Short Putter for a Tall Player

As said above, the general logic followed is that tall players tend to be better at their game with long putters. However, as always, there are exceptions to this.

There are instances where tall golfers prefer using short putters to achieve the best results. While some of them don’t necessarily opt for short putters, they tend to choke down an inch or two on their long putters. This gives them the same effect of using a short putter.

Some 6’2” players have felt that their shoulders, arms and hands move in unison when they use a 32.5” putter. As a result, they’re able to achieve good acceleration through the ball.

On the other hand, other golfers of the same height and short arms who prefer a stance with a bend from their hips in comparison to an upward stance opt for a 33” putter. This helps to keep their arms straight and they putt better than with an elbow bend.

Few 6’1” and 6’2” tall players who have used both a 34” putter and a 35” find that they play better with the 34” putters and deliver better shots with short putters. In fact, they do well with 33.5” putters also.

There are those who go down a little more and opt for a 32.5” putter as it allows them to remain closer to the ball as well as have their eyes directly over the ball. Furthermore, short putters also prevent them from scuffing behind the ball.

There are 6’5” golfers who use 35” putters because this allows their arms and hands to hang freely and stay comfortable without any tension. This will help in rotating their body instead of hand/wrist and arm rotation. This gives them better control over their club than when they use long putters.

However, not all tall players are at ease using short putters. One common problem they tend to experience is backache, even after playing for a short time on the practice green.

33 inch Putter

To know if a 33-inch putter is too short for you, you must analyze the positions of your eye and body with respect to the golf ball.

If you notice that your eyes tend to remain away from the line of target and you’re standing very near to the ball, a 33-inch putter is likely to be too short for you.

Another way to check if a putter of this size is too short is to determine how effectively you’re able to control your distance when delivering long putts. If your putter is too short, you will have difficulty in doing the same.

This putter is generally short for male players who are taller than 5’9” and are not able to hang their arms freely by the side when in position.

35 inch Putter

A 35-inch putter is a standard size one and is ideal for players who are 6’ or taller.

If you find that your eyes are positioned to the inside of the ball or the distance between you and the ball and you is considerably high, you’re most likely using a putter that is longer than you actually need.

Furthermore, you will notice that the toe of the putter will be off the ground and give you a flatter arc. As a result, the shots will get deflected to the left of the target.

31” Vs 32” Putter

  • A few golfers between 5’4” and 5’7” tall are able to make more putts as well as retain an upright posture with a narrow stance when they use a 32-inch putter when compared with a 31-inch putter.
  • Players who are 6’ tall and have long arms are able to use a 32-inch putter better than a 31-inch putter.

33” Vs 34” Putter

  • A 33” putter is harder to swing than a 34” putter because it has a comparatively heavier swing weight.
  • A 33” putter renders players with more control over the club and helps them to locate the hole better when compared to a 34” putter.
  • A 33” putter is beneficial when playing a game on soft greens while a 34” putter is a good choice for fast greens.

34” Vs 35” Putter

  • Players who tend to choke down on their putters find it easier to do this with a 35” putter in contrast to a 34” putter.
  • Some golfers find it easy to achieve their strokes and consistency when they use a 34” putter over a 35” putter because of the comfortable grip.
  • Some players experience natural arm position and control over the club along with preferred swing weight when they opt for a 34” putter instead of a 35” putter.
  • A 34-inch putter is often ideal for golfers whose heights range between 5’10” and 5’11” whilst a 35-inch putter works well for taller players.

33 ft Tiny House On Wheels With STAIRS (Video Tour)

' src=

We ran into the guys from Tiny House Chattanooga ,  at the tiny house fair outside Sct. Augustin in Florida in November.

They were kind enough to show us around their newest model: “The Lookout” ; which is designed for couples without kids.

No loft and ladders here.

It’s built more like a 5th wheel with a gooseneck, so you can tow it with your truck.

Table of Contents

We present: The “Lookout” from Tiny House Chattanooga

As you can see on the video, the house is bigger than most tiny homes, and the high ceiling really gives you a sense of open space, when you enter the house.

The house has lots of small windows just below the roof, to help circulate air.

Here’s a picture of the house from a good angle. You can see how huge it is for a house on wheels. One of the biggest spaces we have filmed, that you can actually tow!

33 tours diameter

The air flow is particular good with this model, as the space is opened up a lot.

They have installed a fresh air exchanger, because the house is sealed tight with spray foam etc. to keep it well insulated, so you need air circulation to avoid mold in the winter.

33 tours diameter

The entrance doors are made of glass to let in as much light as possible.

A great idea for small spaces, as light is a very important element to open up the space, and make a tiny space feel spacious.

33 tours diameter

When you enter the home, you walk right into the kitchen area.

It’s a very spacious kitchen with a normal size fridge and lots of cabinets to store everything you need.

33 tours diameter

Here’s a picture of the fridge.

As you can see there’s a freezer compartment at the top, and all in all it’s a decent size fridge for a tiny home. Lots of space, so you can grocery shop for the whole week, and save some money whenever there’s a bargain on something etc.

You can find 17 more inspiring designs for tiny houses on wheels, here.

33 tours diameter

Here you can see inside the cabinet below the sink.

Lots of space for extra storage, and you can also have a double sink, if you prefer sink space over counter spage.

33 tours diameter

You have an RV type stove big enough for a small turkey for thanksgiving, and you can also choose to have a free standing stove, but this way you get extra storage space underneath the stove area.

33 tours diameter

Here’s a picture showing the whole kitchen area.

Beside the kitchen you find a small staircase, which leads up to a nice and spacey living area.

Under this area the guys have installed a washer/dryer combo, which is very useful so you don’t need to more than one unit.

Beside the kitchen area there’s a wall-mounted table, which can be folded up to create seating for dining and everyday use.

House Layout and Design

Living room space.

In this cozy living area, there’s still plenty of height to stand comfortably. The floor is raised to provide ample storage underneath, as well as space for a washer/dryer combo. A couch can be placed nearby, with some even folding out into a bed to fit the space perfectly.

Kitchen Amenities

The kitchen features full cabinetry and a wine rack, as well as an 18×18 sink, which is quite spacious for a tiny house. The stove in this layout is an RV stove with a small oven, though other options can certainly be used. The 10.4 cubic foot fridge offers a decent amount of storage for food and beverages.

The master closet area includes a built-in clothes hamper, drawers, and sufficient space for hanging clothes. This layout maximizes the use of space and helps keep belongings tidy and organized.

The bathroom features a custom tigerwood shower, which is resistant to water damage, along with a composting or standard toilet, depending on preference. A bathroom vanity from IKEA is included, although other options can be used. A moisture-activated vent fan is implemented to prevent buildup.

The guest room offers a roomy space with plenty of room for various activities. The open design ensures that airflow is maintained, which is essential when using a mini-split system for heating and cooling in such a small space.

Roof Window

A large Velux roof window is installed, which opens all the way like a door and includes a fresh air vent. This window improves airflow and adds a nice touch of natural light to the living space.

Overall, this house layout and design make great use of a limited amount of space while still providing ample room and functionality. The use of flexible furnishings and openings for airflow makes it a comfortable and enjoyable place to live.

A traveler's guide to Novosibirsk, the unofficial capital of Siberia

33 tours diameter

Trans-Siberian heritage

Residents of Novosibirsk love trains and are proud of the fact that their city played a significant role in the history of the grand Trans-Siberian railway, which spans the breadth of Russia. The railway is such a part of Novosibirsk identity that it is even depicted on the city’s emblem, along with the bridge that crosses the Ob river and two Siberian sables standing on their hind legs.

In the city, there are as many as five monuments to trains, and an open-air locomotive museum is located in the vicinity of the train station Seyatel’. The museum has more than 100 steam locomotives, diesel locomotives and carriages, reflecting the history of rail transportation in Russia from pre-revolutionary times to the present day. Wondering around the stationary trains and comparing your height with the diameter of the gigantic iron wheels of the first steam locomotives is all very well, but why not climb inside the carriages and see how the nobility once traveled across Russia in pre-revolutionary times? These tours will however need to be booked in advance. The museum opens from 11:00 until 17:00 every day except Mondays.

Novosibirsk spans both sides of the river Ob. In the early twentieth century, the border of two different timezones passed right through the city which led to a strange situation- morning on the east bank started one hour earlier than on the west bank! The two-kilometer covered metro bridge that crosses the river is considered the longest in the world. Due to the fluctuations in temperature across the year (on average +30 °C to -30 °C), during the summer the metro bridge expands, and in the winter it contracts by half a meter. To counter these effects, the bridge’s supports are equipped with special rollers that allow it to move.

The cultural center of Siberia

33 tours diameter

The repertoire of the theatre can be viewed on its official website . The theatre season runs from September to July, and comprises mainly classical performances, like the ballet “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky, Borodin’s opera “Prince Igor” and Verdi’s “La Traviata”.

The large Siberian sea and ligers

33 tours diameter

Weekends are best spent at the Novosibirsk zoo . The zoo is known for breeding big cats, although surrounded by controversy, hosts a successful crossing of a tiger and lion, which of course would not otherwise breed in wildlife. Ligers, or exotic cubs of an African lion and Bengal tigress, feel quite comfortable in the Siberian climate and even produce offspring. The zoo is open to visitors year-round, seven days a week, and even has its own free mobile app, Zoo Nsk .

Every year at the beginning of January, the festival of snow culture takes place bringing together artists from across Russia and around the world to participate in a snow sculpting competition. The tradition started in 2000 inspired by the snow festival in Sapporo, Novosibirsk’s twin-city.

Siberian Silicon Valley

33 tours diameter

Despite the fact that Akademgorodok was built half a century ago in the middle of the uninhabited Siberian taiga, architecturally it was ahead of its time. No trees were destroyed for its construction, and houses were built right in the middle of the forest. A man walking through the woods would seemingly stumble upon these structures. At that time, no one had built anything similar in the world and ecovillages only became fashionable much later.

For residents of the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok is a different world. When you step out the bus or car, you are immediately on one of the hiking paths through the forest, between the scientific buildings and clubs. On a walk through Akademgorodok, it is possible to unexpectedly encounter art-like objects handmade by residents of the city which have been erected as monuments and some monuments fixed up by city authorities. For example, the monument to the laboratory mice, which knits a strand of DNA on to some needles, can be found in the square alongside the Institute of Cytology and Genetics. In Akademgorodok there are many cafes and restaurants, in which it is possible to rest after a long walk. Grab a coffee and go to eat at Traveler’s Coffee , or eat lunch at the grille and bar People’s or Clover .

Winters in the Akademgorodok are slightly colder than in the city, so wrap up. Spring and summer are usually wetter, so waterproof boots are recommended. In the summer the Ob sea provides respite from the heat, so do not forget your swimsuit to go for a dip.

Memento Mori

33 tours diameter

Among the exhibits of the museum is one dedicated to world funeral culture — hearses, memorial jewellery from the hair of the deceased, samples from a specific photo-genre of  "post mortem", a collection of funeral wear from the Victorian era, deathmasks, statues and monuments. There’s also an impressive collection of coffins. One of them, resembling a fish, was manufactured on a special visit to Novosibirsk by a designer coffin-maker from Africa, Eric Adjetey Anang, who specializes in the production of unusual coffins.

Surprisingly, the crematorium itself does not look at all gloomy in appearance and definitely does not look like infernal scenes from movies, or like crematoriums of other cities that gravitate towards gloomy temple aesthetics. The Novosibirsk crematorium is decorated in “cheerful” orange tones and is surrounded by a park with a children’s playground nearby. A visit to the museum then leaves you with mixed feelings.

Novosibirsk underground

33 tours diameter

Tourists from all over the world go down into the Moscow metro to take a ride and a few selfies in the most famous underground museum. The Novosibirsk metro is also quite a museum in itself — it has 13 stations, the most beautiful of which is Gagarinskaya, Sibirskaya and Rechnoy Vokzal.

The ultramodern Gagarinskaya station is like a real cosmos underground. Its technologically themed design includes marble walls with metallic elements, dark blue backlighting and portraits of Yuri Gagarin. The Sibirskaya station looks like an underground treasure trove, decorated by Altai masters craftsmen with mosaics of precious Siberian stones. The Rechnoy Vokzal station is framed with ten glowing stained glass windows depicting the largest cities of Siberia, including Novosibirsk itself, Omsk, Barnaul and others. The platform resembles a big ship sailing on the Ob, from which ancient Siberian cities are visible through its windows.

How to get there

The easiest way to get to Novosibirsk is by plane with Aeroflot or Novosibirsk airline S7 with one-way tickets from Moscow costing from 200-250 USD. If you decide to take from the train from Moscow, you’ll have to travel approximately a third of the Trans-Siberian Railway. That’s 3,300 kilometers over almost a three-day journey.

Where to stay

There are many great hotels in Novosibirsk. Amongst the best include a four-star Doubletree hotel by Hilton , which is located near Lenin Square (per room from $200). After renovations and repairs, the congress-hotel Novosibirsk has improved (per room from $100) and is located across from the train station. Less expensive but of a similar standard is the four-star River Park hotel near Rechnoy Vokzal metro station, which costs $80 per night.

Harris caps two-day Georgia bus tour with appeal to voters at Savannah rally

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday worked to shore up Democratic support in Georgia by visiting a part of the battleground state that politicians don’t frequent nearly as much as the more heavily populated Atlanta area.

“For the past two election cycles, voters in this very state, you who are here, have delivered. You sent two extraordinary senators to Washington, D.C.,” Harris said, referring to Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

She said that Georgians mobilized to put a Democrat in the Oval Office four years ago and that she’s hoping for a repeat.

“You showed up, you knocked on doors, you registered folks to vote, and you made it happen,” Harris said. “You did that. And so now we are asking you to do it again.”

Follow live coverage of the 2024 campaign here

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, completed a two-day bus tour of southeastern Georgia. During a stop at a Savannah café Thursday, Harris said she plans to roll out a tax credit proposal for new startups and small businesses next week.

“This is one of my singular priorities, is to invest and grow our small businesses,” she said.

Kamala Harris

Shortly before the rally, Walz joined Harris for a joint interview with CNN that’s scheduled to air at 9 p.m. ET Thursday. It’s her first sit-down interview since she launched her White House bid late last month.

The crowd began filing into Savannah’s Enmarket Arena more than three hours before Harris was set to speak, braving a downpour while waiting in long lines to pass through security. Inside the arena, energetic supporters held signs reading “Freedom” and “A New Way Forward,” dancing to songs from CJ the DJ, a local radio host, as blue and white lights beamed across the audience.

A Harris-Walz campaign official said 7,500 people were in attendance. The official said that's the venue's maximum capacity.

Protesters interrupted Harris twice, and the audience cheered as they were led out. One protester was pro-Palestinian; it was unclear what the other protester was saying.

“I am speaking now,” Harris said as the first protester was escorted out, adding that she and President Joe Biden are working “around the clock” to secure a hostage deal.

Walz wasn’t onstage for the Savannah rally. He’s in North Carolina for two campaign events.

Biden’s razor-thin 2020 victory in Georgia came down to fewer than 12,000 votes. One of the heaviest blue regions of the state is metro Atlanta, where Biden performed better than 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in almost every county.

But Democratic leaders in Savannah say the Harris campaign is helping expand party support in the state’s southeast.

“Atlanta has always gotten the juice, has always gotten the love, but us here in southeast Georgia, we really matter,” said Aaron “Adot” Whitely, chair of the Democratic Party in Chatham County, where Savannah is located.

Biden narrowly improved Democrats’ margins in two blue Southeastern counties in 2020, winning Chatham with 58.6% of the vote.

Savannah Mayor Van Johnson, who has long been vocal about the need for Democrats to more seriously engage with cities beyond Atlanta, said he feels the Harris campaign has answered his call by opening seven field offices in southern Georgia.

“The fallacy often is that Georgia is Atlanta and Atlanta is Georgia,” Johnson said. “Each city, each county, has its own distinct flavor and its own distinct history, and so it would be a fool’s errand to think that you can fly in and out of Atlanta and that you’ve covered Georgia.”

Jonae Wartel, senior adviser to the Harris campaign in Georgia, emphasized that Democrats learned the importance of having a statewide strategy from their successful 2021 Senate runoff races, when she was runoff director for Georgia Democrats.

Warnock and Ossoff won their races nearly four years ago, giving Democrats a majority in the Senate. Warnock kept his seat in 2022, beating his Republican opponent.

“I think it’s really important to not see Georgians as a single type of voter, but more a broad coalition,” Wartel said. “So taking her to parts of Georgia that are outside of metro Atlanta is incredibly important.”

The campaign’s volunteer efforts got a boost when Harris announced her campaign, with more than 35,000 people joining volunteer efforts in Georgia, Porsha White, the Harris campaign’s Georgia director, said in a news release.

Amy Morton, CEO of the Democratic consulting firm Southern Majority, said Harris’s rising to the top of the ticket also became a “game changer” for down-ballot races.

Often, Democrats in swing districts try to distance themselves from the presidential nominee, Morton said.

“That is flipped in this situation,” she said. “I already have Republican opponents in these districts who are sprinting away from Trump.”
