Saudi Arabia occupies a central position in the Arabian Peninsula. This country is joined with Jordan, Iraq, and Kuwait through its borders. By 2030, the kingdom hopes to welcome 100 million visitors yearly and expand the sector, which now accounts for 10% of its GDP.

Recently, this country has transitioned from strict rules to more relaxed regulations for attracting international tourists. Saudi eVisa vs Visa on Arrival:

You might have heard about the Saudi eVisa, but what’s the difference between an eVisa and a visa on arrival? Both sound like travel documents, so which one is best for you? Which one is the Saudi eVisa vs visa on arrival? Well in this article we have explained exactly that. You might know that certain countries require you to get a visa before travelling there. If you are planning a trip to Saudi Arabia, you will need to apply for a Saudi visa unless you plan to enter the country with an eVisa. However, both of these documents allow you to enter Saudi Arabia as a tourist. The only difference is how they work and where you can get them from.

What Is An E-Visa?

Saudi Arabia e-Visa is an alternative to the visa that allows you to apply for a visa online. The traveller is required to produce all the data on the given e-Visa portal of the country in order to obtain permission to enter the country. The fee for Saudi Arabia e-Visa is to be paid through electronic modes such as credit card or internet banking.

When the application is approved, the visa is sent by email and can be downloaded. One of the major advantages of an e-Visa is that you do not have to wait at the airport once you reach the country. This will save you the hassle of paperwork, queues and documents.

Both Visa on Arrival and e-Visa is designed for travellers who want to experience a stress-free travel experience and enjoy a memorable holiday by availing e-Visa.

Validity of Electronic Visa:

The validity of the Saudi Arabia tourist e-visa is one year. The visa's validity period begins on the day it was issued. The authorized e-visa specifies the validity duration. The following are some of the points which must be noted:

  • A single-entry and multiple-entry travel permit are available with the e-visa. It will be automatically chosen as a multiple-entry visa if you haven't chosen a specific type of visa.
  • The duration of the visa stay is distinct from the duration of the visa. Even though the e-visa is valid for a year, travelers can only remain for 90 days in a single visit .
  • An e-visa cannot be extended. You will have to reapply for it and pay the visa fees if it expires before you reach the kingdom.

Steps to apply for eVisa:

The applicant must go through various steps to apply for the visa. The following are the main steps for applying:

Step 1: Check whether you need a visa: Saudi Arabia welcomes visitors from many countries. There are categories of countries that require visas to go there, and some do not. The GCC countries do not require visas to travel to Saudi Arabia . Only a passport is needed for these citizens.

Step 2: Fill in the application: The Saudi authorities want you to fill out an application before applying. It takes a total of 12-14 minutes to fill out the form. The form is available on the Saudi online visa application website. You must complete all of your passport information, submit digital photographs, and provide travel and contact information in addition to choosing the appropriate visa type once you are there.

Step 3: Payment of the eVisa: you will be asked to make payment for the visa. This process is entirely online for the ease of the applicants. After you proceed with the payment, you will receive an automatic confirmation version of the application. The Saudi Arabia e-visa cost varies according to your nationality, purpose of travel, and processing duration. A charge for complete health insurance during your visit to Saudi Arabia is included in the visa cost.

Important points to note for eVisa:

Here are some of the essential points that you must note before and while applying for the electronic visa to get into Saudi Arabia:

  • The approved e-Visa is sent as an email attachment, often a PDF file.
  • Whatever the circumstances after your application submission, you cannot cancel or request a refund once you have submitted an eVisa application.
  • Refunds are not available in case of unapproved visas.
  • Everyone who applies will get an electronic invoice for their transaction.
  • In your e-visa application, always give accurate and precise information. Applications with inaccurate or misleading information will be disregarded.
  • The decision to approve an e-visa application will be made by the ministry of tourism and the relevant regulators.
  • Entry into KSA is not guaranteed even with a granted e-visa.

Saudi Arabia Visa on Arrival

Good news! Saudi Arabia's visa on arrival service has reopened to eligible visitors. Now, travelers can once again make use of this convenient option for obtaining their travel authorization.

Citizens of eligible countries have the option to apply for a visa on arrival (VOA) in Saudi Arabia. This is a convenient way for foreign visitors to obtain a Saudi travel authorization.

Saudi Arabia Visa on Arrival: A Comprehensive Guide

A Saudi Arabia visa on arrival is a travel permit that certain nationalities can obtain upon their arrival in the country. It offers the convenience of applying in person at an immigration checkpoint before crossing the Saudi Arabia border.

However, it is important to note that obtaining a visa on arrival can be a time-consuming process and does not guarantee immediate approval. Visitors often experience delays upon arrival while waiting for their visa on arrival to be processed and approved.

A Faster Alternative: Saudi eVisa

For a quicker and more efficient visa application process, the Saudi eVisa service is highly recommended. This online service allows travelers to apply for their Saudi visa in advance, eliminating the need to apply in person upon arrival.

By applying for the Saudi eVisa before traveling, visitors can save time and have their travel authorization confirmed before their departure. This reduces the potential waiting time upon arrival in Saudi Arabia and provides a hassle-free travel experience.

Key Differences Between Visa on Arrival and Saudi eVisa

  • Application Process: Visa on arrival requires in-person application at an immigration checkpoint, while the Saudi eVisa can be conveniently applied for online.
  • Time Efficiency: Visa on arrival can be time-consuming, as it involves waiting for approval upon arrival. Saudi eVisa eliminates this waiting time by providing a pre-approved travel authorization.
  • Planning Ahead: With Saudi eVisa, travelers can apply for their visa before their departure, allowing them to plan their trip with certainty and avoid any last-minute complications.

In conclusion, while a Saudi Arabia visa on arrival is an option for select nationalities, the Saudi eVisa offers a faster and more convenient way to obtain a travel permit. By applying online in advance, travelers can save time and ensure a smooth entry into Saudi Arabia.

Eligibility for Saudi Arabia Visa on Arrival

Citizens of approximately 50 countries can avail themselves of the convenient Saudi visa on arrival service. This allows them to obtain their visa upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, these nationals also have the option to apply for the Saudi Arabia eVisa.

Travelers holding a valid visa for the Schengen Area, United Kingdom, or the United States are also eligible for the Saudi visa on arrival. However, it is important to note that they must have already traveled through the visa-issuing country and arrive in Saudi Arabia on one of the following national airlines: Saudia, Flynas, or Flyadeal.

Please remember to check the latest requirements and regulations before making any travel arrangements to Saudi Arabia.

Step-by-Step Process to Obtain a Saudi Visa on Arrival

Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, visitors have the option to obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) at any point of entry. To start the process, follow these steps:

  • Visit Immigration: Upon arrival, proceed directly to the immigration area.
  • Request the Visa Application Form : Join the queue designated for requesting the visa application form.
  • Complete the Form : Fill out the visa application form with the required information.

Submitting the Application

Once you have completed the form, it's time to submit it along with any supporting documents. Follow these instructions:

  • Hand Over the Form: Present the completed visa application form to the border officers at the designated counter.
  • Provide Supporting Documents: Submit any necessary supporting documents, as specified by the Saudi immigration officials.

Payment and Approval

The visa on arrival fee must be paid before your document can be approved. Here's what you need to know:

  • Pay the Fee : Proceed to the payment counter and pay the visa on arrival fee. Please note that payment methods may vary depending on the Saudi border point you plan to cross. Check the accepted payment methods in advance.
  • Await Approval: After paying the fee, you may need to wait for a certain period of time to receive the approved travel permit. It's important to be patient during this process.

Final Decision and Considerations

Please keep in mind that a visa on arrival is not guaranteed. The final decision lies with the Saudi immigration officials. Here are a few additional points to consider:

  • Saudi Immigration Authorities: The Saudi immigration officials will assess your application and make the final decision regarding your visa on arrival.
  • Requirements and Eligibility : Make sure you meet all the necessary requirements and have the required supporting documents to increase your chances of approval.
  • Alternatives: If you prefer to secure your visa in advance or if you do not meet the criteria for a visa on arrival, consider applying for a Saudi visa through the appropriate channels before your trip.

Remember to stay informed and prepared when applying for a visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia. Following these steps will help streamline the process and enhance your chances of a successful application.

Requirements for Saudi Arabia Visa on Arrival

Visitors who wish to apply for a visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia need to meet specific requirements. These requirements are similar to the Saudi eVisa criteria but may involve additional documentation.

To be eligible for the travel authorization, applicants for the Visa on Arrival (VOA) must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Possession of a passport from an eligible country (valid for at least 6 months ), or an alternative passport with a valid UK, US, or Schengen visa.
  • Completion of the VOA application form.
  • Availability of a suitable form of payment.

It is important to note that there might be additional entry requirements applicable to travelers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, all individuals planning a visit to Saudi Arabia should review the latest updates and guidelines before their departure.

Comparing Saudi Visa on Arrival and Saudi eVisa

The Saudi visa on arrival (VOA) and Saudi eVisa are two distinct travel documents. However, the Saudi Arabia eVisa is the preferred option for most travelers due to its numerous advantages.

Smooth Application Process with Saudi Arabia eVisa

The Saudi Arabia eVisa offers a hassle-free application process. It is a fully online service that allows you to request your visa from anywhere in the world. All you need is a stable internet connection and a mobile device.

To apply for the Saudi Arabia eVisa, simply fill out the online application form. The process takes only a few minutes and requires you to provide some basic details. Additionally, you will need to pay the processing fee.

Saudi Visa on Arrival: In-Person Application

On the other hand, the Saudi Visa on Arrival can only be obtained by applying in person at the immigration checkpoint upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.

Faster Processing Time with Saudi Arabia eVisa

When it comes to processing time, the Saudi eVisa is the winner. Completing the online application form takes just a matter of minutes. Once submitted, your application will be promptly reviewed.

In contrast, the visa on arrival service in Saudi Arabia can often be time-consuming. Travelers may have to endure long queues and wait at the immigration checkpoint for their visa to be processed.

Zero Risk Approval with Saudi Arabia eVisa

One of the significant advantages of the Saudi eVisa is the certainty it offers. After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email indicating the status of your eVisa. This way, you can be assured of your approved Saudi eVisa in advance.

In contrast, individuals applying for the Saudi Visa on Arrival have no guarantee that their visa request will be approved. There is a risk that passengers may be turned away if their application is unsuccessful, causing inconvenience and uncertainty.

Saudi Citizens Can Now Explore Sri Lanka Visa-Free

H eads up, travel squad! Starting October 1, Sri Lanka is rolling out the red carpet for Saudi citizens with visa-free entry—no strings attached. Harin Fernando, the Adviser to the Ministry of Tourism, dropped this exciting news on Thursday, and it’s got us all hyped!

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad, called it a game-changer, saying this move will be a “catalyst to boost tourism and enhance business exchanges” between the two countries. Talk about leveling up! And as if that’s not enough, it’s also a sweet way to celebrate 50 years of strong diplomatic vibes between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia.

But wait, there’s more! Sri Lanka didn’t stop there—they’re extending this visa-free love to citizens from 35 countries, including hot spots like the UK, China, the US, and India. Whether you’re from Germany, Japan, or even New Zealand, Sri Lanka’s got you covered.

Fun fact: Saudi Arabia is already the third-largest source of tourists for Sri Lanka, and with this new perk, those numbers are about to skyrocket. The Sri Lanka Embassy has been doing some serious work to get the word out, including making waves at the Riyadh Travel Fair 2024 back in May.
