"As Good As It Gets": Top Gun Maverick's "Tough" Target Maneuvering Training Gets High Remarks From Real Pilot

Saving private ryan's scene with americans ambushing germans on d-day gets mixed accuracy response from historian, francis ford coppola addresses firing megalopolis’ entire vfx team.

Don’t Make Me Go  was recently released on Prime Video and is about a father-daughter road trip after Max, the father, learns he has a terminal illness. Max decides not to tell his daughter, Wally, the real reason why they're making this trip, and it's from this withholding of information that the true melodrama starts.

Don't Make Me Go is a classic road trip-style movie where the journey is far more important than the destination, and the growth the characters find within themselves is the true point of the movie. Even with the 2020s in their early years, there has already been a fair number of "road trip movies" that examine these exact topics.

She's In Portland (2020) 5.7

She's in Portland is a movie about two old friends who, envying each other's lives, take a road trip to find "the one that got away." Through the course of their road trip, the two men bond and rekindle their friendship that doesn't rely on machismo for the two men to be taken seriously.

Related:  The 10 Best Movies Of All Time According To Metacritic

She's in Portland is a movie about two men's friendship that is not typically seen on screen. Many movies with two male leads rely on stunts and heavy action, whereas  She's in Portland relies on the two men's budding friendship and the lessons they learn along the way. Taking place along the Pacific Coast Highway, viewers will be stunned by the gorgeous views the pair stop at along the way.

Stop And Go (2021) 5.9

In this hilarious comedy, two sisters take a cross-country trip to rescue their grandma from a Covid outbreak at her nursing home. This movie was created during the Coronavirus pandemic and very much showcases the fear that many people had in interacting with others during this time.

Despite their circumstances, the sisters find humor in their situation that doesn't quite land with all viewers. It's true that while the entire human race went through the pandemic, it doesn't necessarily mean it can be joked about with much success. Despite this, the film certainly has its moments of whimsy and is a great movie to while the time away with.

Unpregnant (2020) 6.4

Apropos of the time,  Unpregnant  is about two teenage girls, Bailey (Barbie Ferreira) and Veronica (Haley Lu Richardson) who embark on a harrowing and emotional, yet hilarious journey to another state to be able to obtain an abortion without requiring parental permission. Along the way, they are accosted by pro-lifers and policemen and get a ride from an anti-government survivalist.

While this movie deals with heavy topics, it's done so with comedic timing and heart and doesn't skirt around the reality of Veronica's situation. The film is a great true road trip style movie with many obstacles thrown their way, as is typical of the genre. It very much gives  Booksmart and even  Superbad vibes in a way that makes a difficult situation funny.

The Man In The Hat (2020) 6.4

The Man in the Hat  is a beautifully cinematic film that has almost no dialogue, as the speaking is done through music. It's a classic road trip movie that, in the words of Ciarán Hinds , who plays the main character, "won't take too much of your time... you can just be a human being and watch this little journey and feel things."

The Man in the Hat is beautifully orchestrated with music instead of prose, simple yet emotional scenes like a man eating olives out of a jar that'll have viewers reaching for the Kleenex and the small moments that make humans, human. It's the type of movie that is simply experienced rather than relying on stunts or heavy action to make it memorable. It just is.

Dog (2022) 6.5

Starring Channing Tatum as Briggs,  Dog is about an Army Ranger who suffers from PTSD and isn't eligible for service. To get on his commanding officer's good side, he agrees to take an aggressive dog, Lulu, to his late partner's funeral. Through their hilarious and sometimes scary interactions, Briggs and Lulu learn more than they ever thought they could have from each other.

Related:  The 10 Best Romance Movies Of The '90s According To Letterboxd

The film is inspired by true events that Tatum experienced with his own dog. Viewers have become weary of movies with dogs as it seems that they are destined for a bitter end, however, the marketing for  Dog assured viewers that the dog does not indeed die, which made viewers keener to watch.

The Trip To Greece (2020) 6.6

The Trip to Greece is a comedy film following fictionalized versions of two actors, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, as they traverse the steps of Odysseus from Troy to Ithaca. It's the fourth installment in the franchise, following  The Trip  to Italy,  The Trip to Spain,  and the original iteration centered in England.

Along with the  hilarious banter between Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, viewers are dazzled with gorgeous shots of the delectable food the pair dine on throughout their journey. The movie released at the start of the 2020 pandemic and was an outlet for people to "travel" without actually leaving their homes.

Supernova (2020) 6.8

Starring Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci,  Supernova  is about Sam ( Firth, in arguably one of his best movies of all time ) and Tusker (Tucci) embarking on a road trip through the English countryside after Tusker has been diagnosed with early-onset dementia. Similar to  Still Alice , this movie explores the grief, heartache, and denial of losing a loved one before they're even gone.

Though the film was ultimately snubbed by the awards circuit, it shows an achingly accurate portrayal of dementia and the trials and tribulations the couple face through their hardships. The two leads give a performance of a lifetime that will leave viewers remembering their characters more than the specifics of the film.

Hit The Road (2021) 7.3

Hit the Road is an Iranian comedy/drama about a family driving to the Turkish border to smuggle their eldest son out of the country. Despite the often comedic moments of the movie, there is a constant note of fear running through everyone in the film but the young boy, who hasn't been told the truth about why his older brother is leaving Iran.

Related:  10 Best Movies Turning 50 In 2022 According To Reddit

Hit the Road was met with critical acclaim and was director Panah Panahi's debut film. The film is shot almost exclusively from the inside of the car and uses humor as a way to keep the family from falling too far into anguish and heartbreak, though it is there just below the surface.

Nomadland (2020) 7.3

After being a smash success on the film festival circuit,  Nomadland  went on to win Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress (Frances McDormand) at the Academy Awards. Based on a non-fiction book, Fern (McDormand),  recently widowed and unemployed, sets off in a newly acquired van around the U.S. to live as a nomad.

Throughout her travels, she meets fellow nomads who teach her valuable lessons about living on the road as well as invaluable lessons about life, death, love, and family.  Nomadland is meant to show what real American life can look like without glamorizing it the way Hollywood has been known to do.

C'mon C'mon (2021) 7.4

In this heartwarming and earnest film, Joaquin Phoenix impresses as an uncle who forges a bond with his young nephew, Jesse, who he hasn't seen in over a year. When Jesse's mom asks Johnny (Phoenix) to come and stay with Jesse, and when she needs to extend her trip, Johnny and Jesse start a cross-country road trip together.

Shot completely in black and white, this movie is not about the end goal, but about the journey, and the lessons Johnny and Jesse learn along the way. Viewed through the eyes of a child, and through the eyes of an adult, it asks viewers to reflect on the circumstances in their own life and if it's possible to move on.

5 best road trip movies, ranked

Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis in Thelma and Louise.

Taking a road trip is one of the most fun things you could do if you want to experience freedom, adventure, and discovery. If you want to relieve that thrill of going on a road trip, some movies have captured its exhilarating experience.

Thelma and Louise (1991)

Little miss sunshine (2006), paris, texas (1984).

  • Y tu mamá también (2001)

Easy Rider (1969)

These films shine a light on the ups and downs of going on a road trip with loved ones — or even complete strangers. They take a look into what makes road trips so fun, whether it’s the dramatic moments of self-discovery, the high-octane action sequences, or the hilarious mishaps that make us laugh out loud. So, buckle up and take a look at our list of best road trip movies, from the indie drama Paris, Texas to hysterically tragic Little Miss Sunshine .

Ridley Scott’s Thelma and Louise is a movie about the feminist awakening of two friends. In it, Thelma, a stifled housewife yearning for freedom, embarks on a fishing trip with her friend Louise. What starts as a carefree escape takes a dramatic turn when Louise intervenes in a violent act, forcing them both on a desperate run from the law.

The film builds to a truly unforgettable finale, where Thelma and Louise, cornered by the law, make a shocking yet powerful choice. This blend of humor, drama, and action keeps viewers glued to the screen, making it a must-see for adventure seekers. But Thelma and Louise transcends a simple road trip movie. Its exploration of female empowerment and friendship adds depth, making it an enriching and poignant road trip movie to watch.

Watch Thelma and Louise on Amazon Prime Video .

In Little Miss Sunshine , the Hoover family goes on a cross-country trip to make sure young Olive gets to join the titular beauty pageant. But along the way, they go through entertaining hijinks and realizations, such as when their bus breaks down and they’re forced to push-start it, as well as Dwayne’s shattering realization that he’s actually colorblind.

It has an ensemble cast that includes Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Steve Carell, and Alan Arkin — all of whom deliver incredible performances. It’s a must-watch road trip movie as it chronicles the hilarious and chaotic journey of a dysfunctional family — which, let’s be honest, is unavoidable if you’re going on a long-haul travel with your family.

Watch Little Miss Sunshine on Hulu .

It’s not hard to see why the indie movie Paris, Texas won the prestigious Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival. Highlighting a story about reconciliation and vindication, Paris, Texas follows Travis Henderson, a man who returns from the unforgiving Texas desert after a self-imposed exile lasting four years. His path to healing includes taking his son and estranged wife Jane on a trip across the breathtaking yet desolate landscapes of the American Southwest.

A powerful moment in the film is the peep-show booth scene, where Travis lays bare all his regrets to Jane, showcasing the strength in human vulnerability. Paris, Texas takes its time, and with good reason: The deliberate pace allows the characters to develop organically. We witness their struggles firsthand and not through rushed exposition, which elevates the watching experience.

Watch Paris, Texas on HBO Max .

Y tu mamá también (2001)

Life is a highway, and for Julio and Tenoch in Alfonso Cuarón’s Y tu mamá también , it’s a bumpy one filled with laughter and heartbreak. This coming-of-age odyssey throws these two teenagers alongside the enigmatic Luisa headfirst into a whirlwind road trip across Mexico. Viewers should brace themselves for a story about youthful abandon clashing with harsh realities, as the main characters navigate self-discovery, sexual awakening, and the lessons life throws their way.

Y tu mamá también’ s story is both raw and tender, as Julio, Tenoch, and Luisa navigate the intricate web of their relationships. The film doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities of growing up, resulting in an ending that will leave you pondering the complexities of friendship and self-discovery long after the credits roll.

Y tu mamá también is streaming on YouTube .

Easy Rider is a road trip movie that highlights the 1960s counterculture movement. In the movie, two bikers named Wyatt and Billy are on a mission to chase freedom across America. But their journey becomes a social commentary as they encounter a microcosm of American society — a lost soul on the road, a suspicious rancher, and the alcoholic lawyer George Hanson, played by an unforgettable Jack Nicholson .

Easy Rider doesn’t shy away from showcasing the breathtaking diversity of the American landscape — from scorching deserts to the lush countryside — with each frame amplifying the sense of an epic adventure. The soundtrack is also a time machine straight to the 1960s with music from The Byrds, Jimi Hendrix, and Steppenwolf, creating an immersive viewing experience. This is a film that will have you questioning societal norms and pondering the true meaning of freedom.

Watch Easy Rider on Apple TV .

Now that House of the Dragon is over, it can be tough to justify that Max subscription. If you weren't watching the Game of Thrones prequel, you may have subscribed for any number of other reasons. Regardless of exactly why you decided to pay for the streamer, though, it can be hard to feel like you're getting your money's worth out of it.

What you may not know, though, is that Max is absolutely stuffed with great movies, many of which are actually hard to find from the home screen. If you're looking for a movie to while away Labor Day weekend with, then we've got you covered with three titles that perfectly fit the bill.

Labor Day weekend ideally means taking some much-needed time off from work to spend time with friends and loved ones. And if you're really lucky, you can take some time to watch some great action movies from the comfort of your own home.

Let's face it: Even the most devoted Marvel fan can only watch Deadpool & Wolverine so many times before it gets boring. Thankfully, a handful of this summer's best action movies -- as well as a few from last year -- are readily available to stream right now. To narrow down your search, we've picked the five best action movies that you should stream this Labor Day weekend.

Labor Day is a holiday dedicated to the workforce. The first Monday of September honors the labor movement that helped shape the United States, and the workers who represent the backbone of the country. Hopefully, Labor Day is a day off from work, providing much-needed rest and relaxation on the unofficial last day of summer.

Soldiers comprise some of the most admirable and well-respected laborers in America. War films also happen to be one of Hollywood's most popular genres. A great war film, like Saving Private Ryan and Apocalypse Now, can leave an important legacy on the American public. If American soldiers are on your mind, watch these five movies for Labor Day weekend, including an epic Western, an underrated action gem, and a colossal showdown between two of the greatest actors ever.

Screen Shot 2023 07 24 at 4.54.37 PM 3 e1690232716300

Road trips are always a helluva time, and if you can't go on one personally, the next best thing is to watch a few of the movie classics that have been created. Road trip aka open road movies have been a staple of the film industry for decades now, with some of the most memorable movies in history are technically classified as being a "road trip" film. From the National Lampoon's series all the way to legendary one-offs such as 2004's Johnson Family Vacation and 2000's Road Trip , open road movies remain some of the most entertaining and hilarious out there due to the fact that the participants hardly ever make it to where they plan on going in one piece. With us still being in the thick of summer, we thought it would be fun to take a look at the best road trip movies of all time. Buckle up and get the popcorn ready. You're going to need it.

RELATED: The 27 Best Tom Cruise Movies of All-Time, Ranked

1. Johnson Family Vacation (2004)

  • Directed by: Christopher Erskin
  • Written by: Earl Richey Jones, Todd R. Jones
  • Stars: Cedric the Entertainer, Bow Wow, Vanessa Williams, Solange Knowles, Steve Harvey, Shannon Elizabeth
  • Where They're Headed: Missouri

We've got be on I-10 by 10. Johnson Family Vacation has so many memorable one-liners that have become even more popular with time. Obviously getting two of the most funny men in comedy, Cedric the Entertainer and Steve Harvey, is going to result in some foolishness, and foolishness was indeed delivered. If you are in the mood to laugh your a$$ off, turn on Johnson Family Vacation .

2. Almost Famous (2000)

  • Directed by: Cameron Crowe
  • Written by: Cameron Crowe
  • Stars: Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Kate Hudson, Anna Paquin
  • Where They're Headed: All over the place

Sometimes you'll do anything (and put up with anything) to make your dreams come true. 2000's Almost Famous was all about the journey of a young aspiring rock journalist who catches the eye of a Rolling Stone editor who sends him on the road to cover a rising band named Stillwater. A fun little early 2000s film that's cool to watch during a relaxing weekend at home.

3. Easy Rider (1969)

  • Directed by: Dennis Hopper
  • Written by: Dennis Hopper, Peter Fonda, Terry Southern
  • Stars: Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper
  • Where They're Headed: New Orleans

Starring Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, and Dennis Hopper, the movie is about two motorcyclist hippies who decide to travel cross-country in search of spiritual truth after completing a drug deal in Southern California. What follows next is a wild ride. Literally.

4. Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

  • Directed by: Valerie Faris, Jonathan Dayton
  • Written by: Michael Arndt
  • Stars: Paul Dano, Abigail Breslin, Toni Collette, Alan Arkin
  • Where They're Headed: Redondo Beach, California

The interesting Hoover family are described as "putting the fun back in dysfunctional," so that should tell you all that you need to know about this movie. Showcasing an all-star cast that also includes Steve Carrell and Bryan Cranston, Little Miss Sunshine is another fun road trip film from the 2000s.

5. The Blues Brothers (1980)

  • Directed by: John Landis
  • Written by: John Landis, Dan Aykroyd
  • Stars: John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd
  • Where They're Headed: In and around Chicago

A cult classic considered to be one of the greatest comedies of all time, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd aka The Blues Brothers, hit the streets on a self-proclaimed mission from God in the attempt to get on a good path after getting out of prison. The first task? To save the orphanage the brothers grew up in from closing. The only thing they need to do is raise $5,000 to pay the back taxes on the property (which they plan to do through playing gigs), but as expected, everything goes...wrong.

6. National Lampoon's Vacation (1983)

  • Directed by: Harold Ramis
  • Written by: John Hughes
  • Stars: Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo
  • Where They're Headed: Wally World (California)

After re-watching National Lampoon's Vacation , we can effectively conclude that this is one of the best and funniest road trip movies of all time. Chevy Chase steals the show with his wit, sarcasm, and foul sailor mouth, which will keep you entertained from start to finish. The entire National Lampoon's series is worth watching, so we recommend setting aside a day where you can knock them all out.

7. Thelma & Louise (1991)

  • Directed by: Ridley Scott
  • Written by: Ridley Scott, Callie Khouri
  • Stars: Geena Davis, Susan Sarandon
  • Where They're Headed: Mexico

Directed by Ridley Scott, Thelma & Louise is a classic example of a movie taking an unexpected turn you never saw coming. Thelma (Davis) and Louise (Sarandon), intend to go on a short fishing trip, however those plans get put to an end when Louise shoots and kills a man at a bar who attempts to rape Thelma. The two decide to flee to Mexico, and embark on a journey that includes running from the law and falling for hot guys.

8. Smokey and the Bandit (1977)

  • Directed by: Hal Needham
  • Written by: Hal Needham, Robert L. Levy
  • Stars: Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jerry Reed, Jackie Gleason, Paul Williams
  • Where They're Headed: Atlanta

Atlanta has a way of sometimes bringing the chaos, as demonstrated by 1977's Smokey and the Bandit . Anybody who calls themselves Bandit (Reynolds) is probably a person who's done some questionable in their lifetimes, which is probably why he's given the duties of transporting an illegal beer shipment from Texas to Atlanta. If Bandit had stayed on task he probably would have been able to easily accomplish the mission, but because he decides to pick up a rather hesitant bride to be (Field), things get a little complicated.

9. Into the Wild (2007)

  • Directed by: Sean Penn
  • Written by: Jon Krakauer

  • Directed by: Peter Farrelly
  • Written by: Peter Farrelly, Bobby Farrelly, Bennett Yellin
  • Stars: Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels
  • Where They're Headed: Aspen, Colorado

The partially hilarious and partially annoying Dumb and Dumber is always worth a watch. Quite possibly the two dumbest pair of friends to ever exist, Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Daniels), decide to go to Aspen, Colorado to return a suitcase full of money left behind by a woman in Harry's car. Somehow (don't ask), this leads to the duo being hunted by both the police and killers. Needless to say, the pair find themselves in a unique jam that they have to get out of.

  • Directed by: Frank Capra
  • Written by: Frank Capra, Robert Riskin
  • Stars: Clark Gable, Claudette Colbert
  • Where They're Headed: New York and beyond

The concept of open road movies have been experimented with since practically the inception of film, and with five Academy Awards along with an induction into the U.S. National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, we'd say It Happened One Night deserves its ranking as one of the best road trip films of all time.

12. College Road Trip (2008)

  • Directed by: Roger Kumble
  • Written by: Emi Mochizuki, Carrie Evans, Cinco Paul, Ken Daurio
  • Stars: Martin Lawrence, Kym Whitley, Raven-Symoné, Brenda Song
  • Where They're Headed: Pittsburgh and Washington D.C.

2008's College Road Trip starring Raven-Symoné and Martin Lawrence remains underestimated in our book. Obviously Martin Lawrence is one of the funniest people to ever do it, and so is Raven. Put the both of them together, and you'll be laughing non-stop.

13. Road Trip (2000)

  • Directed by: Todd Phillips
  • Written by: Todd Phillips, Scott Armstrong

The goal is for them to retrieve the tape before she gets it. Can they do it? You'll have to watch the movie for that.

15. The Bucket List (2007)

  • Directed by: Rob Reiner
  • Written by:  Justin Zackham,
  • Stars: Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson
  • Where They're Headed: Everywhere

16. Rain Man (1988)

  • Directed by: Barry Levinson
  • Written by:  Barry Morrow, Ronald Bass
  • Stars: Dustin Hoffman, Valeria Golino, Tom Cruise
  • Where They're Headed: Cincinnati, Ohio

Long before Tom Cruise was in Mission Impossible , he was in a rather poignant road trip drama called Road Man . Portraying a car dealer named Charlie Babbitt who returns home to Cincinnati, Ohio after learning that his estranged father has passed away, Road Man is a bit sad compared to what we know as the "traditional road trip film," but still a good watch.

17. Crossroads (2002)

  • Directed by: Tamra Davis
  • Written by:  Shonda Rhimes
  • Stars: Britney Spears, Zoe Saldana, Taryn Manning
  • Where They're Headed: LA to Tucson, Arizona

Dammit! We're putting this here because Crossroads didn't get enough credit at the time of its release in 2002, and it doesn't get enough credit now. This is a good movie, and we will forever stand by that!

18. Midnight Run (1988)

  • Directed by: Martin Brest
  • Written by:  George Gallo
  • Stars: Robert De Niro, Charles Grodin
  • Where They're Headed: All around the West Coast

1988's Midnight Run has a case for being one of the all-time great action films from the 1980s. A not-so-traditional "catch the bad guy" movie, the film is about bounty hunter Jack Walsh (De Niro), being hired to bring a mob accountant (Grodin) to Los Angeles. Walsh gets told ahead of time that the job will either be an easy one or a midnight run (meaning a chase), and, well, the latter happens.

  • Directed by: Gus Van Sant
  • Written by:  Gus Van Sant

10 Best Road Trip Movies of All Time

of 10 Best Road Trip Movies of All Time

Road trips are a way out of our stressful lives. The peregrinations with friends and family can soothe our souls. This deliverance to redemption has inspired motion pictures since the time we can remember. Losing ourselves in the lap of Mother Nature and the warmth of solitude can be an orgasmic and life-changing experience. Over the years, the genre has gained popularity. The films have inspired youths and teens to embark on journeys of self-discovery and an aberration from banality. These movies not only provide us with the visual splendor of nature but also have strong plots to give us moving stories. The dramatization of road trips has seen exponential growth, attracting the biggest names in the industry.

The genre has created a niche for itself with a very small amount of target audience. As a result, most of the movies on the genre aren’t commercial and often dwell in the shadows of the crowd-pleasers. The following is the list of top road trip movies ever made.

10. Zombieland (2009)

road trip movie amazon prime

Not your typical road-trip movie, this innovative amalgamation of zombie humor and road-trip genre remains one of a kind. The film stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin as the quadripartite who survive a zombie apocalypse. The story follows Columbus (Eisenberg) and his journey, where he meets other survivors to free themselves of this perdition. The Alexander Payne helmed film was nominated for six Academy Awards without winning any. The performances, especially that of Bruce Dern and June Squibb were acclaimed as the worn-out pair, struggling with life and their marriage. Any film that Paul Giamatti features in turns out be a good one. ‘Sideways’ is no aberration. 6.  Easy Rider (1969)

road trip movie amazon prime

I hadn’t heard of the film until two days ago when I concocted the idea to do an article on road-trip movies. I found this during my research, and instantly, the film became one of my favorites. Starring the ever-green Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper and newcomer Peter Fonda, the film explores the societal landscape, issues, and tensions in the United States during the 1960s, such as the rise and fall of the hippie  movement, drug use, and communal lifestyle. Extra-ordinarily, the film administered use of real drugs in all the scenes including them. The aesthetic vistas and the gory violence, along with the extensive use of drugs, make the film a landmark  counterculture film and a “touchstone for a generation.”

Deftly handled and splendidly shot, the film received much praise from the industry, going on to win an Academy award as well. It also spring boarded the career of Emile Hirsch, who assumes the titular role. This saddening yet exciting tale of the great man is surely one of the best features in the genre.

The 13 Best Movies About Adventure Filled Road Trips

Dylan sanders | sep 2, 2024.

road trip movie amazon prime

Road trips are one of the most memorable events that one can undergo. They can provide an array of emotions from fun, stressful and even exciting.

Here is a list of movies about all kinds of road trips :

National Lampoon's Vacation

The original in the series is considered by some to be the best. Clark Griswald and the family take off on a trip to the Wally World theme park but plenty of comical road trip problems make their journey a blast to watch.

Wild at Heart

This quirky crime/romance movie from the director of "Twin Peaks" follows a boyfriend and girlfriend that are on the quest to escape their past.

Identity Thief

A Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy-led comedy follows a business an that gets his identity stolen. He takes the thief on a road trip to Denver, Colorado in hopes of clearing his name.

Dumb and Dumber

Lloyd (Jim Carrey) and Harry (Jeff Daniels) go on an adventure to meet up with a woman in Aspen after they find her suitcase full of money. Widely considered one of the classic 1990s slapstick comedies.

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle

Another classic comedy, this time in more of the "stoner comedy" vein. Two college friends see a commercial for White Castle which kicks off a crazy night.

Little Miss Sunshine

This dramedy follows the dysfunctional Hoover family as they try to get the youngest daugther to the Little Miss Sunshine Contest. It accurately depicts the limits in which your sanity can be pushed during a family road trip.

Another crime/romance road trip movie that follows a couple that goes on a killing spree through the South Dakota badlands. It is an exploration of the true story of Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate from the 1950s.

The Darjeeling Limited

More of a train trip than one in a car, but this story of three brothers travelling across India has a fantastic family dynamic that makes it one of the more endearing on this list.

A Goofy Movie

A wonderful animated film that was essential for those growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. This is the perfect movie to show your kids before you go on a road trip.

Another comedy, this Chris Farley and David Spade classic follows two brother traveling salesmen as they hit the road to try and save their family.

The Muppet Movie

Kermit the Frog gets ready for his career in Hollywood as he hits the road to California and meets all of the classic muppets that you know and love.

Thelma & Louise

This Ridley Scott classic is a perfect movie about friendship helping through unforeseen events and unfortunate circumstances.

Midnight Run

A bounty hunter heads on the road to try to find a Mafia accountant after he commits embezzlement. The two are also chased by the FBI, another bounty hunter and the accountants' former mob boss.
