Disneyland Paris tips for a first-time visit

Summer Hull

If you've ever wished for a more manageable Disney theme park experience, with affordable park tickets, easy public transportation straight to the front entrance and effortless park-hopping, a trip to Disneyland Paris may be the perfect addition to your next French vacation.

Oh, and there's a Champagne cart on Main Street, U.S.A. and even a dragon living under Sleeping Beauty Castle that you can visit.

Disneyland Paris opened in 1992 and was then known as Euro Disney — the theme park is now officially on the upswing. It's home to what might now be the nicest Disney hotel in the world, the Disneyland Hotel. The area's second park, Walt Disney Studios Park (once widely regarded as the weakest international Disney park) now has some top-tier rides and, since 2022, also houses the Avengers Campus . What's more, in the next few years, even more rides and lands will be arriving at Walt Disney Studios Park — including a forthcoming new identity: Disney Adventure World .

disneyland paris tour packages

Disneyland Paris is beautiful and affordable compared to U.S. parks. It's also extremely easy to get to if you are coming from or through Paris — making for a great multiday stop on your European vacation or a perfect fun-filled daytime detour from a bigger trip to the City of Light.

Here's everything you need to know about Disneyland Paris if you're visiting for the first time.

Disneyland Paris basics

Disneyland Paris is home to two parks: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park (soon to become Disney Adventure World).

Disneyland Park is a castle-themed park that feels like a mix of Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland Park in California. It has a lovely Sleeping Beauty Castle and familiar lands such as Frontierland, Fantasyland and Adventureland.

But don't let the obvious similarities confuse you, as it's far from a clone of any other park. There are some things here you won't find anywhere else, and the rides that sound familiar, such as Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain, are much more intense in France than back in the U.S. of A.

disneyland paris tour packages

And then there's Walt Disney Studios Park. When it eventually rebrands to Disney Adventure World, it will get an all-new Adventure Bay, alongside a "Tangled"-themed ride and a World of Frozen land, similar to the one that recently opened in Hong Kong , in 2026.

The two parks are adjacent to each other across a plaza, as shown below, similar to the two parks at Disneyland in California. This means it is quick and easy to hop between parks if you wish.

disneyland paris tour packages

You can likely hit the highlights of one or perhaps both Disneyland Paris parks in one day. If you want to devote two days to the parks, then you'd have ample time to enjoy most of what Disneyland Paris has to offer, especially with a little line-skipping strategy.

There are nearby hotels where you can stay, or you can easily take the train to and from the airport or from the heart of Paris for added convenience.

Disneyland Paris tickets

While not as cheap as the tickets we enjoyed earlier this year to Tokyo Disney , Disneyland Paris tickets are still much more affordable than tickets for the U.S. Disney parks.

One-park, one-day tickets at Disneyland Paris start at $63 per adult per day, with children's tickets (for kids ages 3 to 11) costing slightly less than that.

Around the holidays, ticket prices go all the way up to $148, but much of the time, you'll pay significantly less, especially if you can visit during the week — you'll find fewer crowds then, too.

disneyland paris tour packages

Park-hopping only costs 25 euros ($27) more per person, per day, so that's a decent option if you don't want to spend two days in the parks.

Look for ticket deals before you check out on the Disneyland Paris website. This summer, we bought our tickets under a "Friends and Family" promotion that gave you further discounts on your tickets if you were traveling with four to six people, which we were.

As an added benefit, dated park tickets are currently eligible to be canceled up until three days before travel, which made committing to the purchase before our trip easy.

Disneyland Paris hotels

There are seven official Disneyland Paris hotels, ranging from the recently reimagined Disneyland Hotel at the literal entrance of the park to cabins at the Davy Crockett Ranch (a 15-minute drive away, and sadly doesn't have a shuttle). Multiple hotels are also just a 10- to 20-minute walk or shuttle bus ride from the parks.

disneyland paris tour packages

If you stay at an official Disneyland Paris hotel, you get an Extra Magic Hour each morning. During this time, you will get early access to some areas of the parks an hour before non-hotel guests — it's a great opportunity to meet a character or get on a ride before the gates officially open.

disneyland paris tour packages

If you're choosing between the hotels, the nicest Disneyland Paris hotel is unquestionably the eponymous Disneyland Hotel.

It reopened in early 2024 after a transformation befitting a fairy-tale princess. From the massive lobby chandelier to the hotel's own unique Champagne, it's undeniably bougie in all the best ways.

disneyland paris tour packages

The bad news is that rooms here start at around $1,000 per night. The good news, however, is that the rooms often sleep four guests, which is unusual for Paris, where occupancy limits typically prohibit more than two or three people sleeping in a room. After paying for two rooms for the four of us in Paris (and other parts of Europe), a night here all in one room didn't sound quite as painfully expensive as it otherwise would have.

Dare I say, factoring in not having to book two rooms, it was worth it for a night for the convenience and just the posh, upscale nature of it all.

disneyland paris tour packages

I used the annual $100 Citi Strata Premier℠ Card (see rates and fees ) hotel credit and booked my stay via the Citi Travel site, which meant I also earned 10 points per dollar on the paid portion of my stay, which was a pretty hefty return.

TPG values Citi ThankYou Rewards points at 1.8 cents each (as of August 2024), so I saved $100 by booking with that card's annual hotel benefit and earned approximately $162 in points I'll use on future trips by being strategic with my reservations.

There is (what looked like would be) a lovely character meal at Royal Banquet with Mickey and friends making appearances in some truly royal outfits, but it costs 100 euros ($111) for those 12 and up and 50 euros ($56) for children ages 3 to 11. So, we passed on that experience this time since dinner for four would have totaled nearly $400.

There is also a popular indoor pool and a Royal Kids Club, though when I visited the kids club staff didn't seem to speak very much English (and my French is almost nonexistent), so I wasn't able to get all the details on how the club works firsthand. However, the website indicates it is free for up to two hours per day for children ages 4 to 11. Since it is next to the spa, it could be a convenient option for those with younger kiddos who are hoping to get a little time to themselves.

You can also book a royal makeover for your kids for prices that range from a little over $100 to almost $500 (the costumes are among the nicest I've seen), or you can keep your eye out for surprise theatrical performances that pop up throughout the hotel that cost nothing at all.

disneyland paris tour packages

The second-nicest hotel at Disneyland Paris is likely Disney Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel, which reopened in 2021 after a massive superhero-themed renovation. Expect rates from around $700 to $800, with peak nights costing more.

disneyland paris tour packages

You might want to avoid some of the still-expensive but less recently opened or renovated Disneyland Paris hotels.

For example, while it sounds promising, with a national park lodge theme and moderate prices, the Disney Sequoia Lodge's rooms and common areas are reportedly a little tired and dated. There have been rumblings of possible renovations in the coming years, so stay on the lookout for that.

If none of the Disneyland Paris official hotels are right for your trip and you'd like to stay on points nearby, you can try Marriott's Village d'ile-de-France , which is less than 4 miles from the park entrance. But do note that award availability via Marriott Bonvoy is notoriously very tough and, at times, potentially impossible to lock. There's also the Holiday Inn Express Marne-la-Vallee Val d'Europe , which is bookable with IHG points, starting at around 32,000 IHG points per night.

Another nearby option is the Moxy Paris Val d'Europe , which can be booked with Marriott points and is handy for taking the Reseau Express Regional (a commuter network of five express train lines that connect Paris to the suburbs) to Disneyland Paris.

Getting to Disneyland Paris from Paris

You don't have to stay near Disneyland Paris if you don't want to, as getting to Disneyland Paris from the city center is fairly simple, thanks to the RER A train. You can take this line from many central locations in Paris to the Marne-la-Vallee — Chessy station, which is so close to Disneyland that you can just about smell the churros when you step outside.

Also, it's pretty easy to tell if you are on the right train to Disneyland Paris — just look for a Mickey symbol on the stations' signs. You can purchase tickets from kiosks at the station, and they cost 5 euros each. The ride from the Auber station, which was closest to the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome , where we had been staying with points the nights before, was simple and about 45 minutes long.

Just be aware that the RER A splits into two different lines before the Marne-la-Vallee — Chessy stop, so make sure your train has the Mickey symbol and is going to the right station before you board.

disneyland paris tour packages

Once you're off the train, you'll walk just a few steps out of the station and then clear security to enter the Disneyland Paris complex.

disneyland paris tour packages

If you're coming from or going to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on a Disneyland Paris trip, you'll still begin and end your journey at the Marne-la-Vallee station, but the quickest and easiest route is to take a TGV high-speed train . It's a great option since it's a 10-minute ride from Disney to the airport.

Note that tickets can be expensive for such a short journey, but we observed prices dropping as you get within a week or so of your travel date, with tickets starting around 16 euros ($18) per person, though prices vary by time and date.

Best Disneyland Paris rides

At first glance, many rides at Disneyland Paris appear to be the same or similar to ones in the U.S., but that's not always the case.

Space Mountain

At Disneyland, the ride that would usually be known as Space Mountain is Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, and it goes upside down ... multiple times. Consider it a must-ride if coasters are your thing.

disneyland paris tour packages

Big Thunder Mountain

Then there's Big Thunder Mountain, which I'd also say is better than the U.S. versions of the ride.

First of all, it's "haunted" and thus ties into the nearby Phantom Manor storyline (more on that shortly), but it also goes under the lake. No, you don't get wet, and if you aren't paying attention, you may not realize that's what is happening, but it definitely happens.

disneyland paris tour packages

Phantom Manor

Phantom Manor can be thought of as Disneyland Paris' version of the Haunted Mansion, but like the other rides mentioned, it is also far from a replica of anything that can be found in the U.S. It's not just different in name — it's a different story. And don't worry; most of the narration is in French and English, so you can keep up, even if you don't speak French. It's beautiful, it's haunting and it's a must-ride.

disneyland paris tour packages

Pirates of the Caribbean

The Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland is generally regarded as better than the one at Disney World as there are more scenes and a second drop. I'd rank this version at Disneyland Paris as very close to the one at Disneyland in California. There are two drops in this attraction, and these scenes, while familiar, are in a different order and unique enough to make it a must-ride.

Crush's Coaster

Located in Walt Disney Studios Park, this spinning coaster is "Finding Nemo"-themed and the only one of its kind in the world. While we didn't ride Crush's Coaster on this trip since we were only in Disneyland Park, it's a must-experience thrill ride if you visit Walt Disney Studios Park. It was a highlight of TPG Managing Editor Jordan Waller's trip last year, who said it was "way scarier" than he thought it would be.

A fire-breathing dragon under the castle

This isn't a ride, but it is something you must experience if you visit Disneyland Paris. While you should absolutely take time to explore inside Sleeping Beauty Castle, you also need to go under it, too, as you'll find its oversized prisoner there.

This dragon is often resting, but stick around until it wakes up, and you won't be disappointed — it's unlike anything you'll see at a Disney park in the U.S.

disneyland paris tour packages

Go inside Sleeping Beauty Castle

You can go inside Sleeping Beauty Castle and enjoy the view below, stained glass windows and more. It's breathtaking and unique, especially when compared to the Magic Kingdom castle.

disneyland paris tour packages

More Disneyland Paris rides to consider — or skip

Some other rides we enjoyed were Disneyland Paris' version of Snow White's Scary Adventures, which was still the creepier and scarier version that Disneyland has moved away from in California, and Peter Pan's Flight, which I think is also better than the U.S. versions of that ride in Florida and California.

Other popular rides at Walt Disney Studios Park include Ratatouille: The Adventure, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure and Avengers Assemble: Flight Force.

I will add that a ride I did not personally enjoy at Disneyland Paris was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril. It was incredibly rough and prone to cause not only motion sickness but head, neck or back pain, based on my experience, even when you follow instructions to keep your head all the way back against the padding, so this one gets zero out of five stars from me.

disneyland paris tour packages

Is Disneyland Paris Premier Access worth it?

Now that we've talked about the best rides at Disneyland Paris, the next logical topic is wait times ... and how to avoid them.

Disneyland Paris has two skip-the-line options: Premier Access and Premier Access Plus. The first is a per-ride purchase, and the second provides Premier Access (similar to Lightning Lane access in the U.S.) to all eligible rides (once per ride) across both parks.

disneyland paris tour packages

Costs to book Premier Access on a per-attraction basis currently range from 5 to 16 euros ($6 to $18), depending on the ride. Rules state that you can buy a maximum of three Premier Access passes per day (and a maximum of one per attraction). You can only book day-of in the park, and after you purchase one, you'll get the next available time slot.

In contrast, the Premier Access Plus pass covers all the eligible Premier Access rides and you aren't tied to any specific time to use the lanes. Instead, you can go once on each eligible ride at any time. The cost for this pass varies (a lot) but starts at about 90 euros ($100) per person, per day and goes up on busier days.

I think it's unquestionably worth it to get the Premier Access pass in some form for busy rides to make the most of your time at Disneyland Paris. Still, I'd say that the Premier Access Plus pass is only worth it if you are park-hopping and hitting the parks hard all day or if the cost isn't a big hit to your budget. Having the flexibility to avoid as many lines as possible and not being tied to any specific return time is a big plus.

Otherwise, you can be strategic about the three rides you use Premier Access for and avoid the longest waits while also not paying as much as you would for the Premier Access Plus pass.

Eating at Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris has some good rides, it's beautiful and it's easy to get to, but the food ... isn't a highlight, at least not in my book. It's not that the food is bad . It's just not especially good in many cases.

That said, as a fan of the weird but endearing Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland in California, I really enjoyed the Toad Hall quick-service restaurant in Fantasyland.

disneyland paris tour packages

The fish-and-chips was pretty darn good, especially compared to other dishes I got later in the day from other Disneyland Paris quick-service restaurants. I'd recommend this restaurant for an easy lunch, assuming you like fish-and-chips, which is the mainstay of this menu and will run you 12 euros ($13).

disneyland paris tour packages

As you can see, some of our food later in the day wasn't as great.

disneyland paris tour packages

Cafe Hyperion, shown below, wasn't my favorite restaurant, but it was large and air-conditioned, and you could watch cartoons while eating your fish or chicken burgers and fries. This restaurant, and several others, utilize "Click and Collect," which is the equivalent of "mobile order" in the U.S. However, lines still get pretty long during peak times.

disneyland paris tour packages

We did not eat at any of the sit-down restaurants due to a combination of factors, including pricing and our limited time in the area. But if you want a sit-down meal and you're staying at a Disneyland Paris hotel, you can book them up to two months out.

To end this section on a positive note, if you enjoy Champagne, you have to buy a glass on Main Street from the Champagne cart and toast to a fun day at a beautiful park. It was 20 euros ($22), but you get to keep the fun flute, and I'd say it is worth it for the experience.

disneyland paris tour packages

Is Disneyland Paris worth it?

I've loved both of my visits to Disneyland Paris. It's not the best Disney park in the world, but it's still very good at a variety of things, including just giving you and your kiddos an easy break from doing and seeing things in Europe that may take some effort or not be as comfortable and familiar as a day on Main Street, U.S.A.

It's a beautiful park, and it's possible to spend as little as a day here and still feel like you got to experience a good amount of things and that you also got your money's worth from the ticket, especially if you strategically use your Premier Access pass.

disneyland paris tour packages

It's very easy to stay a night or two here at the beginning or end of your trip if you're coming from or going to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, thanks to the high-speed train that takes just 10 minutes and runs directly between the two points. The Disneyland Hotel really is exceptional if you have the budget for it ( or use points to make it happen ), but there are other hotel options in the area, too.

disneyland paris tour packages

Alternatively, you could just stay in Paris and take the RER A train to Disneyland Paris — it's a very easy way to layer some Disney magic into a bigger trip planned around experiencing the City of Light.

France: Disneyland Paris Park – Overview, ticket prices and attractions for a successful Disney trip

disneyland paris tour packages

Would you like to enter the magical world of Disneyland Paris , the enchanted kingdom where dreams come true? Located just 32 km from the French capital, this theme park is a must-see destination for families and Disney fans worldwide. In this article, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know to plan an unforgettable stay at Disney’s Paris Parks.

Disneyland Paris overview

Disneyland Paris , formerly known as EuroDisney, opened in 1992. It is the only Disney park to date in Europe and the second largest in the world after Walt Disney World in Florida. According to our review, it’s well worth the detour, especially as it’s easier to visit because it’s less crowded. It comprises two distinct theme parks:

  • Disneyland Park, with Sleeping Beauty Castle divided into five themed zones;
  • Walt Disney Studios Park, dedicated to behind-the-scenes cinema and animation, divided into four themed zones.

The two Disneyland Paris parks, Parc Disneyland and Parc Walt Disney Studios, are located side by side in the Disneyland Paris complex in Marne-la-Vallée. The distance between the two parks is very short, making it easy for visitors to walk from one to the other in 5 to 10 minutes during the day.

Introducing Disneyland Paris Park

What sets Disneyland Paris apart from other Disney parks is its unique blend of European culture and Disney spirit. Exclusive attractions include :

  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril with its roller coaster,
  • the darkly mysterious Haunted Mansion,
  • as well as a unique version of Sleeping Beauty’s castle, with a visit to the dragon’s lair beneath the castle.

The park includes 5 thematic areas (“lands”) arranged around this magnificent Castle with :

  • Main Street, USA , the central alleyway leading to the castle. It represents an American street from the early 20th century. Fashion boutiques, masquerade costume stores, accessories, photos, books, figurines, games, food – you’ll find all the souvenirs here you want to take home with you, and even for men, an old-fashioned barber shop with Dapper Dan’s Hair Cut!
  • Frontierland , on the theme of the American Wild West: for thrill-seekers, Big Thunder Mountain is the star. It’s one of our favourite attractions. Take a paddle-steamer cruise on Thunder Mesa, and visit Phantom Manor, where ghosts and thrills are in the air.
  • Adventureland with our favourite heroes: Indiana Jones, Jack Sparrow, Aladdin, Robinson Crusoe! Set a course for adventure and climb the giant banyan tree for the best view in the area, or sit down at a table in Captain Jack’s lair.
  • Fantasyland , which retraces Disney’s fairy tales: the sets are meticulously designed, and we love Peter Pan’s Flight, the classic “it’s a small world” attraction or the princess pavilion, where you can meet the princesses. You can dine and relive the cult scene from Beauty and the Tramp at the Pizzeria Bella Notte or even bite into a … glass slipper (made of white chocolate) at Cinderella’s Inn.
  • Discoveryland , inspired by Jules Verne’s futuristic vision, features Star Wars and Buzz Lightyear. You can bump into Darth Vader in the aisles or visit one of the intergalactic stores. Youngsters (you must be able to touch the pedals) will love Autopia, where they can drive their first car!

The park includes 34 attractions, including four roller coasters and several classics such as “It’s a Small World”, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain.

You can meet the Disney characters at various points throughout the day and during daily parades and shows.

Walt Disney Studios Park: under construction

Walt Disney Studios Disney Studios is the second largest theme park of Disneyland Paris and has opened in 2002. This park is smaller than its neighbour at the moment and is currently dedicated to the world of Disney cinema , television and animation . Currently , it is divided into four thematic areas:

  • Front Lot : this is where you’ll find Disney Studio 1, a Tinsel Town film location and several boutiques.
  • Toon Studios : with the Flying Carpets Over Agrabah (closed since January 204) and two not-to-be-missed musical shows featuring Mickey and The Snow Queen.
  • Courtyard Production with Avengers Alliance and Tower of Terror. Avengers Campus is a brand-new area not to be missed, where you’ll take part in training and adventures to save the world alongside your heroes!
  • World of Pixar: the star attraction at Walt Disney Studios is Ratatouille: L’Aventure Toquée de Rémy, a rat-sized chase through the kitchens of the Paris restaurant. If you’re a thrill-seeker, you’ll love RC Racer and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop!

It offers unique attractions based on the Pixar and Marvel universes, for example, as well as a nighttime show .

Walt Disney Studios: New attractions and future projects

Please note that part of the park (Studio 1 and certain aisles in Production Courtyard) is currently being renovated and will be closed from April 25, 2024, until spring 2025. The iconic attractions will remain open during the construction period.

In 2025, you’ll discover a brand-new zone, World of Frozen, featuring the Kingdom of Arendelle and its flagship attraction, Frozen Ever After! The Walt Disney Studios Park evolves and expands to make way for new worlds, restaurants, and a new Adventure Bay water feature.

Walt Disney Studios Park will be renamed Disney Adventure World when the new World of Frozen zone opens, offering visitors new immersive experiences with the adventures of their favourite heroes.

How to get to Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris is located in Marne-la-Vallée, some 32 kilometres east of the center of Paris. To be more precise, the Disneyland Paris complex is situated in the commune of Chessy, in the Seine-et-Marne region (Île-de-France).

Depending on where you’re coming from, be sure to plan your travel time to arrive before the park opens. Here’s how to do it:

Access from Paris :

By train, take the RER A towards Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy: it’s the quickest way to get there. Allow 35 to 45 minutes, then get off at the “Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy” station, just outside the entrance to the Disneyland parks.

By car, from central Paris, take the A4 freeway eastwards and follow the signs to “Disneyland Paris.” The drive takes about 45 minutes, depending on traffic.

From Paris-Charles De Gaulle and Orly airports

Dedicated direct shuttle services, such as the Magical Shuttle buses, link several points in Paris (such as Charles De Gaulle and Orly airports) directly to Disneyland Paris.

It’s a convenient, comfortable means of transport with air-conditioning and luggage space, suitable for visitors arriving by plane and going directly to the Disney parks or their associated hotels. The shuttle is often equipped with free Wi-Fi for passengers.

They leave every 45 minutes between 9.00 a.m. and 6.45 p.m. and serve the Disneyland and Val d’Europe hotels, for example. You can buy your tickets on the spot or in advance .

Allow 45 to 60 minutes from Paris-Charles De Gaulle and 60 to 90 minutes from Orly.

Plan your visit to Disneyland Paris

When is the best time to visit disney parks.

The best time to visit Disneyland Paris depends on your preferences:

  • Low season (January-March, September-November): fewer people, lower rates
  • High season (school vacations, summer): special events, but big crowds

Having been several times and at different times, the crowds can vary depending on the date chosen, compared with the Disney World parks in Orlando, where the crowds are always very high. I much prefer Disneyland Paris: we always managed to get to all the attractions on time and moved around the aisles more easily, except in the evening for the night show.

And, of course, having a queue cutter on hand is always a good idea. Admittedly, the cost can be significant, but this ticket allows us to make the most of our stay on-site. Instead of doing two days of attractions in Paris, for example, we did both parks in a single day, even though we were a family of 14! Good organization was a must.

What is the average waiting time in Disney Parks?

From what we could see, the maximum waiting time was generally two hours, for example for the most popular attractions such as Big Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. On average, however, the wait was between 45 and 60 minutes. That’s why it’s important to plan your list of attractions carefully on the day, agree with your group, and check the official Disneyland Paris app for real-time waiting times for all attractions.

Some attractions see their waiting times drop or even during the parade phases. If you don’t mind missing a show, this is a good time to take advantage of your favourite attraction.

Opening hours and calendar

Opening times vary according to the season. So, it’s important to check the official calendar before each visit.

Low season: 10 am-6 pm. High season: 10 am-10 pm. On special days: extended opening until midnight.

Also, special events are organized depending on the season, so we advise you to plan your stay and try to attend them. It would be a shame to miss them. In 2024, you can take part in :

  • Disney Halloween Festival from October 1 to November 3 and
  • Disney Christmas Auction from November 9 to January 6, 2025.

Preparing for the big day

In our experience, arriving early before the park opens is important. On our visit, with 14 people, it took a lot of organization to get everyone there on time! Two groups came directly from the center of Paris (Arc De Triomphe) and chose to book an early morning cab. The journey took 1 hour. You should, therefore, count on leaving at 7.30 a.m.

Once we arrived, we were among the first in line to enter the park at 9 a.m. Guests staying at Disney hotels had already been in the parks since 8:30 a.m.

For our part, we booked the Marriott Bonvoy group’s Moxy Paris Val d’Europe , 5-10 minutes from the RER station and 7 minutes from the Marne-la-Vallée exit. Allow 25 minutes to reach the park entrance. The hotel was very friendly and modern, with a great atmosphere: a playroom for children and relaxation areas for adults on the ground floor. Breakfast was included with our Titanium status.

Here is the report from Marie-Claude and her family who were also :

Recommended visit duration

You’ll need at least two to three days to get the most out of both parks. This will allow you to discover the main attractions and participate in the shows without rushing, especially if you don’t have a queue-cutting ticket.

For our part, as already mentioned, we had some and managed to do all the attractions in both parks in one day, starting at opening and leaving at closing after the fireworks. It was a big day, with the little ones sleeping in our arms as we left, but we didn’t feel like we were running. Some of our group who hadn’t used their queue cutters for one attraction could pass them on to others in the group for a second ride.

We chose the attractions over the shows and Character Encounters. We had to make a choice as we only had one day planned.

It’s possible to do it all in one day or to take it more slowly over two or three days—it’s all a question of organization.

Disneyland Paris - Rates and tickets

Types of park tickets available and prices.

Disneyland Paris offers several ticket options for the Disney Parks. The good news is that children under 3 get in free, and children aged 3 to 11 receive a discount.

Liberty ticket

The Liberty Ticket , non-refundable and non-cancellable, valid for one year:

  • 1 day / 1 park at a cost of €105 for an adult (12+)
  • 1 day / 2 parks at a cost of. 130 € for an adult (12+)
  • Please note that you must register your visit date with Disney Parks before your visit.

The dated ticket

The 1-day or 2 to 4-day dated ticket (multi-park : tickets for two or more days include both parks) can be obtained at the following rates depending on the season:

Five types of periods are determined according to frequentation: Eco, low, medium, regular, and peak.

The multi-park ticket is similar to the Park Hopper ticket: it allows you to move from one park to another at any time during the day. You could, for example, visit the Disneyland attractions in the morning, then go to the Studios in the afternoon and return to the other park in the evening for its fireworks display.

These tickets offer better value for money if you plan to visit both parks, especially if you stay for several days.

Disney Tribe Tickets – dated 1 day

Until September 1, 2024, groups of 4 to 6 people can benefit from special rates on Disney Tribe Tickets, with a €20 per person savings. These tickets can be cancelled up to three days before your visit.

Annual Passes: Disney Passes

Some annual passes also allow year-round access to both parks, thanks to the Disneyland Pass program. Sales are open to all, but availability is limited. You can choose between three types of passes:

Hotel Stay + Disney Parks Tickets

To enjoy the magic of Disney, many people decide to stay at a Disney hotel. Costs are often higher than at nearby hotels. However, they offer many advantages:

  • Magic Moments Plus: privileged access to Disney Parks before the official opening time.
  • Access close to the Parks’ entrances, with paths along Lake Disney or a shuttle service that drops you off in front.
  • Meet the Disney, Pixar and Marvel characters, depending on the hotel where you’re staying.
  • Free parking near your accommodation and the entrance to Disney Parks.

For your convenience, your stay can be changed or cancelled up to seven days before arrival, excluding insurance. You can pay in instalments (1 to 5 payments) with an initial deposit of 15%, made no later than ten days before your arrival via the DisneylandParis.com website or 11 days before via the reservation center. Finally, if you find a lower price within seven days of booking, Disneyland will refund the difference and give you a €20 gift card to use in the stores or restaurants.

Under normal circumstances, a processing fee of up to €29 is payable. Currently, these are free.

Finally, Disney+ subscribers get a 20% discount on their stay at a hotel (excluding Disneyland Hotel) + Disney Parks tickets for arrivals up to and including September 30, 2024. This special offer is only available on the DisneylandParis. com website.

Transport + Hotel + Tickets

A Transport* + Hotel + Ticket package is available for visitors to England. Several modes of transport are available: Eurostar, Eurotunnel, flight, PO Ferries or car service. Find out more at DisneyHolidays.co.uk.

Special rates: military personnel and visitors with disabilities

During your visit to Disney Parks, it is possible to benefit from Special Rates, only on Park Tickets, if you are :

active or retired military personnel

You’ll have access to both Disney Parks and can cancel your ticket up to three days in advance. Depending on the season, tickets cost between €36 and €56/d for an adult and €33 to €52/d for a child. The offer is available for two-day tickets only.

A military card will be requested as proof of military service on the day of your visit. The French government, the United Kingdom or the United States may have issued it.

a disabled person

Disney has considered people with reduced mobility, making certain attractions, shows, parades, restaurants, and stores accessible so that everyone can enjoy the magic of Disney. This clientele can take advantage of Park Tickets, available at a 25% discount on the purchase of a one—to three-day ticket for one or two parks.

Tickets for the disabled and their companions are only available at the ticket office on the day of the event. A priority card is issued upon presentation of official proof. Should the park be at full capacity on that day, you will still be guaranteed access to Disney Park.

You can obtain your priority card one month in advance by applying online. Once on site, it gives you priority access to attractions, shows, parades, character encounters, restaurant checkouts and stores.

To obtain this card, you will need to prove your disability by presenting one of the following documents:

  • Mobility Inclusion Card
  • Disability card
  • Priority card
  • European Parking Card
  • Notification from the Maison Départementale des Personnes Handicapées (except RQTH)
  • Notification from the Maison Départementale de l’Autonomie

Some attractions are adapted for the visually impaired and blind, with guides accessible via the AudioSpot mobile app. Theatres are equipped with magnetic induction mouths to maximize the sound in the shows.

Guided and assisted dogs are welcome to accompany their owners. Blue Book guides have been produced for disabled visitors. We recommend that you refer to them before your visit, as they are full of tips to make your visit easier.

For people with a long-standing medical condition (ALD30), a special card is available upon presentation of proof of entitlement in French or English at the ticket office on the day. It allows easier access to attractions.

Magical options in addition to Park Tickets

To personalize your Disney Parks experience in Paris, it’s hard not to succumb to the paid options. They offer:

  • Disney Premier Access Ultimate: fast access to all eligible attractions at least once (ticket-cutting),
  • Preferential access to the Disney Stars on Parade and the night show up to 10 minutes before the show.
  • Guaranteed access to shows: As tickets fill up quickly, you’re guaranteed to get your seat with this option.

Register your access to Disney Parks

For all holders of Undated Tickets, Annual Pass, or Disneyland Pass, you will need to register on the disneylandparis.com website to choose your visit. You will then receive your confirmation of access to the Disney Parks. This step is essential because of the strong influences that can occur throughout the year.

On the dedicated booking platform , you’ll need your ticket number and the date you wish to visit. Bookings are only available a few months in advance. Children under three do not need to be registered.

Savings tips

Here are a few tips to help you save money:

  • Take a shuttle or the RER to the park.
  • Buy your tickets in advance on the official website to benefit from special rates.
  • Opt for an annual pass if you plan to visit several times a year.
  • Take advantage of special offers, as off-season and weekday rates are often cheaper.
  • Bring your own water, food and snacks.
  • Buy souvenirs outside the park.
  • Use public transport rather than cabs.

Disneyland Paris - Top attractions at both Disney Parks

List of thrill-seeking attractions at disneyland park.

After our 14-person (ages 7 to 73) trip to Disney Parks in May 2024, we ranked the attractions with our family. Here are the ones that came out on top in terms of thrill without discussion for the kids/teens in our group:

  • Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain: a high-speed space experience that’s so fast and loud it’ll blow you away!
  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril.
  • Big Thunder Mountain or the Mine Train: A thrilling roller coaster in a Far West setting (do it repeatedly without your hands for guaranteed fun!).

However, for adults, the ranking is as follows:

  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain

The list of thrill-seeking attractions at Walt Disney Studios Park

Looking for thrills and chills? Here’s our ranking!

  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, also known as La Tour de la Terreur (The Tower of Terror): a cursed elevator that drops you 13 storeys into the void, no less. You’ve got to be on your toes!
  • RC Racer: guaranteed thrills for a short time.
  • Crush’s Coaster: A spinning roller coaster inspired by Nemo’s world, in the dark (we recommend the back seats).
  • Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure: A new interactive attraction with Spider-Man
  • Avengers Assemble: Flight Force: A high-tech roller coaster with Iron Man

Family attractions at Disneyland Park

Once you’ve had your thrills, let’s move on to the must-see attractions for families with children:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: An immersive cruise into the world of pirates. We love it!
  • Peter Pan’s Flight: A magical flight over London and Neverland.
  • Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast: help Buzz on board your spaceship to save the world with your pistol in hand!

But there’s also It’s a Small World, a classic with a catchy soundtrack that gets stuck in your head, and Mickey’s PhilharMagic!

Family attractions at Walt Disney Studios Park

In our opinion, the must-see family attraction at Walt Disney Studios Park is Ratatouille: Rémy’s Totally Toasted Adventure. It is a wild ride through the kitchens of Paris, with its very special scenery and atmosphere.

Kids will love Toy Story Playland’s Slinky Dog ZigZag Spin. If you’re not afraid of gagging, you’ll love the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop with its controlled descent or, even more impressive, the Crush’s Coaster, which hurtles down the East Australian sea currents.

The Cars Road Trip was our least favorite attraction, even if it does showcase an example of Disney’s cinematic prowess.

Disneyland Park parades and shows

New shows at Disneyland Park in 2024 include Un Million de Couleurs (A Million Splashes of Colour) during the day and the Disney Electrical Sky Parade after dark. Between fireworks and drones, you’re sure to be impressed by the latter’s beauty.

You can watch The Lion King and the Rhythms of the Earth, the Disney Stars parade through the streets from the top of their colourful floats, or take in the second night show, Disney Illumination.

Family shows at Walt Disney Studios Park

Access to Disney cinema and entertainment, attend one of the famous indoor musical shows with :

  • Disney Junior’s Dream Factory.
  • Mickey and the Magician.
  • The Snow Queen: a musical invitation.
  • Together, a Pixar Musical Adventure.

You can meet the Marvel characters in the aisles of the Marvel Avengers Campus to see their performance:

  • The Warriors of Wakanda
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • The Amazing Spider-Man
  • Avengers Unite
  • Heroic Welcome

Disneyland Paris - Practical tips

Single rider use.

In Paris, you can use the Disney Premier Access system (known to North Americans as FastPass) to reduce your waiting time at certain popular attractions. This option is charged.

Another free and very practical option is Single Rider queues. If you’re alone or ready to be separated from your group, you’ll be asked to be separated from your group to get through faster by filling empty seats at attractions.

The Disneyland Paris application

Before you come, download the official Disneyland Paris app for :

  • Consult waiting times in real time
  • Interactive park map
  • Check show times
  • Check your characters’ locations to meet them
  • Restaurant reservations

For restaurants, you need to book well in advance. In our case, they were not bookable even two weeks in advance. So, when we got there, we used the app to order takeaway food. Picnic areas can be found in some parts of the park.

Credit cards to use

Conversion fees can add up quickly when travelling internationally, increasing the total cost of your expenses. Banks usually apply these charges when you make transactions in a foreign currency, but they can be avoided!

We recommend that you use these credit cards without conversion fees:

Size restrictions for attractions

Some attractions have size restrictions, including :

  • 1.02 m: Big Thunder Mountain, Star Tours
  • 1.20 m: Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Avengers Assemble: Flight Force
  • 1.40 m: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril

These restrictions must be taken seriously for your family’s safety. Several checks can be made between your entry and before you enter the attraction’s carriage to verify your child’s size.

Disneyland Paris - Catering

Disneyland Paris offers 43 restaurants with various themes and cuisines worldwide. These include:

  • Bistro Chez Rémy with French cuisine inspired by the film Ratatouille (table service).
  • Blue Lagoon Restaurant with Caribbean island atmosphere
  • Auberge de Cendrillon: a meal with Disney characters at your table (table service)

For a quick meal between two attractions:

  • Casey’s Corner (hot dogs and fries)
  • Hakuna Matata Restaurant (African cuisine)
  • Café Hyperion (burgers and salads)

For restaurants offering table service, online reservations are recommended as early as two months before your visit. You can also choose from :

  • in the fast-food sector,
  • in the takeaway sector,
  • all-you-can-eat buffets with Agrabah Café Restaurant, Pym Kitchen and Plaza Gardens.
  • click collect sites such as Au Chalet de la Marionnette, Casa de Coco, Restaurant Hakuna Matata, etc.
  • and a bar, Victoria’s Home Style Restaurant, serving homemade pastries.

If you’re staying at a Disney hotel, you can take advantage of the Disneylicieux offer by booking in advance: Disney offers a meal package when you book, including one, two or three meals a day with breakfast, half board or full board.

Three meal options are currently available:

  • Standard: from €30 for a child to €55 for an adult on a half-board basis.
  • Plus: from €40 for a child to €65 for an adult on a half-board basis.
  • Premium: from €70 for a child to €125 for an adult on a half-board basis.

You can then book your table via the app.

Breakfast is not included in Disney hotels, but it is if you book in one of the Disney Clubs (Empire State Club, Compass Club and Golden Forest Club) or Partner Hotels (BB Hotel, Explorers Fabulous Hotels Group).

Disneyland Paris - Accommodations

Disney hotels nearby.

Staying in a Disney hotel offers benefits such as early entry to the park with Extra Magic Hours. You’ll have access to certain attractions before they officially open to the general public. For total immersion in the Disney universe, here are a few options:

  • Disneyland Hotel (5 stars): located at the entrance to Disneyland Park, you’ll enjoy luxurious surroundings, performances by the Royal Greeter Troupe, a Royal Encounter with a Disney character and access to the Royal Kids Club for children aged four to eleven.
  • Disney’s Newport Bay Club (4 stars): a 15-minute walk away (8 minutes by free shuttle), you’ll be staying right on the shores of Lake Disney in a nautically chic New England setting.
  • Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne (3 stars): a 20-minute walk (8 minutes by free shuttle), you’ll be immersed in the world of the Wild West with your favorite cowboy Woody.

An offer is available from €125 per person/night at Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch for three days and two nights from September 22 to October 3, Sunday to Thursday. You’ll be nestled in a bungalow in the middle of the forest. Please note, however, that it’s a 15-minute drive to the ranch, and there’s no shuttle service.

Marriott Bonvoy hotels to save with loyalty points

For Marriott Bonvoy members who wish to use their points to book their stay, several options are available within reasonable distance of the park:

  • Marriott’s Village d’Ile-de-France
  • Moxy Paris Val d’Europe
  • Renaissance Paris Hippodrome de St. Cloud Hippodrome de St. Cloud Hotel

We’ve tried the last two, and you can read our reports:

Disney Partner Hotels

Several hotels and apar’thotels are also available close to Disney. We recommend the following:

  • The Hotel Elysée Val d’Europe is located just a few minutes from the Val d’Europe shopping center and Val d’Europe RER station, and boasts a French-style decor.
  • The Starycity aparthotel in Marne-la-Vallée: 10 minutes by car/shuttle from the Disney Parks, a free shuttle is available to and from the park. This is a great option if you’re staying for several days and want to take advantage of a discount. You’ll find a restaurant, swimming pool, games room and gym.
  • Domitys Saria, apart’hotels with gym and indoor pool,
  • Relais Spa Chessy Val d’ Europe, offers an indoor pool, spa and wellness center.

By selecting a Disney Partner hotel, you can purchase a Partner Hotel + Park Tickets package. For example, you’ll benefit from free parking at the parks and a shopping service that allows you to collect your purchases directly from your hotel.

Convert your credit card points

Not all hotels offer a loyalty program. To save money, you’ll have to use a different strategy: redeeming bonus points for statement credit .

Some credit cards allow you to redeem your points for savings on hotel accommodation. American Express, for example, offers its own travel agency, American Express Voyages , where you can then use your Membership Rewards points.

Another option is the Rocketmiles rewards portal, where you can earn Aeroplan points and many other types of points when booking hotel stays, even at Disney hotels!

For more tips on how to save on your non-loyalty-affiliated accommodation, I recommend our article on independent hotels .

Hotels to consider near Disney

Disney is a partner of Center Parcs Villages Nature Paris , a nature park just a 15-minute drive from the Disney Parks that offers a lush, family-friendly setting and a wide range of activities:

  • Aqua Mundo water park,
  • a Kids’ Club,
  • a Boowling,
  • Bellevue Farm, where children can care for animals and do some gardening,
  • Jardins Extraordinaires to awaken children’s senses,
  • the Forest of Legends, with suspension bridges, constructions and huts to build,
  • a walk or bike ride to the beach, forest or lakeside.

Other accommodations

We have found several accommodations on the Booking. com website in Chessy that may be suitable for you, here is our selection in Val d’Europe:

  • One-bedroom 30 m2 apartment with swimming pool,
  • A 40 m2 apartment with one bedroom and a balcony,
  • 59 m2 family apartment 7 minutes from Disneyland Paris,
  • La Serrisienne 4 of 68 m2 with three bedrooms,
  • La Serrisienne 5 of 68 m2 with two bedrooms,
  • La Serrisienne 7 , 69 m2 with three bedrooms,
  • A 67 m2 two-bedroom apartment just a few steps from the Val d’Europe center, with private parking.

Getting to Paris

For visitors already in France and wishing to travel to Paris, the TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse) option with the SNCF is the fastest, most environmentally friendly and easiest, given the distances involved:

  • TGV InOui Premium comfort with free Wi-Fi, power sockets, and continuous cleaning service. Fares around €54 for a two-hour journey.
  • TGV Ouigo is a Low-cost option with fares from €10 for a three-hour journey.

The second option is to take the bus with Flixbus , which is cheaper but takes longer. For example, a trip from Paris to Bordeaux costs around €16 (7-hour journey).

For example, domestic flights from major cities such as Marseille or Nice with Transavia are possible. Fares start at €30, but are generally around €100, and can rise during periods of high demand.

Finally, there’s the choice of a car. But tolls and the cost of petrol can make this option more expensive, even though it offers greater freedom. For example, a Paris-Bordeaux journey costs around €125 (5 h 37).

Bottom Line

Disneyland Paris offers a magical experience unique in Europe. With the right planning, you can take full advantage of all the wonders the Disney parks offer. Don’t forget to book your tickets, dates and restaurants in advance, and above all, let yourself be swept away by the Disney magic!

Other Disney parks around the world

Disney parks, known for their magic and iconic attractions, are not limited to Disneyland Paris. Other parks around the world offer unique experiences.

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea in Japan combine local culture with Disney magic. Hong Kong and Shanghai Disneyland in China offer innovative attractions tailored to Asian audiences. California’s Disneyland, the original park, continues to evolve while preserving its historic heritage, as does Florida’s renowned Walt Disney World .

Every Disney park in the world promises an unforgettable adventure filled with magic and surprises for visitors of all ages.

  • Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain: Rebel Mission (formerly Space Mountain), an indoor roller coaster in the dark.

To avoid long queues at attractions, we used the Disney Premier Access paid option, which can be used once for popular attractions, and we highly recommend it to make the most of your stay at Disneyland Paris.

When is the best time to visit Disneyland Paris?

Ideally, to fully enjoy the attractions, choose off-peak periods outside school vacations: January to mid-March, June, or November, and give priority to weekdays.
