— -- When it comes to travel, every dollar saved is crucial for a much-needed vacation to be within reach. There are several new ways of saving this summer, specifically on hotels, that promise to put money back in vacationers' pockets.

Honey Travel Honey.travel

Millions use Honey, the popular browser plug-in, to save while shopping online. Now Honey is getting sweet on hotel deals. Launched in July, the plug-in, available on desktop only, offers discounts on rooms through "honey keys." Users earn honey keys when they shop online using the Honey extension on Chrome. A honey key is necessary to book a hotel reservation at a discounted rate; every user gets one HoneyKey to start.

Honey claims an average of $30 saved per night.

A search for rooms in New York yielded savings: On the same dates in August, The Surrey hotel was priced at $376 on Orbitz and $327 on Honey Travel.

In Washington, D.C., The Fairmont was priced at $212 on Orbitz and $157 on Honey Travel.

A search in Chicago also found savings. At the Sofitel Magnificent Mile, the Honey Travel price was $229 for a night in mid August. The same hotel on the same night was priced at $310 on Booking.com.

Boxed Hotels.Boxed.com

The popular mobile app Boxed has gotten into the hotel game. Though Boxed is primarily known for savings on bulk items like those generally found at Costco and BJs with home delivery, now shoppers can also save as much as 45 percent on hotel rooms.

Similar to its bulk-buying of non perishable items, Boxed buys hotel rooms in bulk too, passing along savings to would-be travelers.

A spot check of hotels in Boston for a check-in date one week away revealed significant savings. While the Sheraton Boston Hotel was $699 on Expedia, it was $342 on Boxed. Similar savings were found at the Boston Park Plaza: $484 on Expedia and $299 on Boxed.

After trying Boston first, where previous searches found few reasonably-priced rooms, Los Angeles was next on the list.

The Standard Hollywood was $409 on Expedia and Booking.com and $311 on Boxed.

TrustedHouseSitters.com

Though TrustedHouseSitters has been a staple for budget-conscious travelers abroad for a few years, it was only in May that the site added U.S. properties. In a short time, the company says the U.S. market has become its largest.

In short, travelers get free accommodations in exchange for taking care of a pet or pets and a home while the owners are away. There is a membership fee of $119 per year and being an animal lover is a must.

Upcoming U.S.-based house-sitting options include caring for two cats while staying in a Palm Springs condo with mountain views; a Hoboken, New Jersey, three-bedroom condo with two cats just 20 minutes from Manhattan and a September sit in Sonoma, California, caring for two large dogs in a home with a heated pool.

Arguably one of the top global destinations for any form of romance (and carb consumption) is the Land of La Dolce Vita. While Italy honeymoon packages are a bit pricier than other international offerings, the country is known for its wellness amenities and focus on cultural exploration.

Preidlhof: The wellness resort in northern Italy has rejuvenation and romance on its radar with its very own Honeymoon & Wedding Anniversary Package. Couples can rest easy knowing Preidlhof is all-inclusive with fresh fare offered each day to guests. Package offerings include a specially-decorated suite upon arrival, welcome drinks, a designated "romance table" for dining, treatments for two at the spa, and one trip out to the local region in the resort's Fiat 500 for the true Italian experience.

Venturing far and Down Under, the South Pacific, Autralia and New Zealand are known for attracting adventurous honeymooners who dare to explore. The South Pacific contains some of the best honeymoon destinations, including Fiji and Tahiti. It's made up of clusters of intimate resorts, small peaceful villages and miles of quiet pristine beaches where honeymooners can post up in some seriously dreamy digs. The best time to travel to Fiji and French Polynesia is during the high season months of June to September, but New Zealand and Australia are best visited between December and March to catch the warm weather . Pending location, packages may include watersports or mountaintop excursions. Beauty is guaranteed no matter where you land.

Australia Honeymoon Packages

Head to the likes of Fiji or French Polynesia for overwater bungalows, or to New Zealand and Australia for a honeymoon immersed in nature. The following New Zealand and Australia honeymoon packages may spark multiple return visits.

Qualia : Known as one of the world's best resorts, you can't go wrong with a stay at Australia's qualia hotel. Sitting on 30 acres of native gardens, the hotel can be found on the northernmost tip of Hamilton Island and is the perfect base to explore the Great Barrier Reef. For your honeymoon, may we suggest the Heart Island Adventure package? This includes a four-night stay, a helicopter tour over the Great Barrier Reef and landing on Heart Island's helipad to spend some time snorkeling around the reef. Talk about a memory-maker.

Longitude 131˚ : For an all-inclusive honeymoon package that's as adventurous as it is scenic, opt for a stay at Longitude 131˚. Here, you can stay in one of the luxury tented domes or pavilion, each with bucket-list views of Australia's famed Uluru. Honeymooners should pick the Classic Uluru package for spa treatment credits and a guided walk to Uluru's base on top of your meals and drinks.

New Zealand Honeymoon Packages

Huka Lodge : After a luxury New Zealand honeymoon package? Look no further. Huka Lodge, nestled near the banks of the Waikato River in New Zealand's North Island, has just 20 guest suites (so you're bound to get some much-wanted privacy). The honeymoon package includes two nights, an hour-long couples spa treatment, flowers and chocolates on arrival, five-course evening meals in a private dining location as well as a full country breakfast.

Hapuku Lodge + Treehouses : Located above a deer farm in the South Island of New Zealand, Hapuku Lodge sits at the foot of the Kaikoura Seaward Mountain Range. A stay in one of its treehouses is such a unique honeymoon idea. Each treehouse has large windows that look across the canopy—best seen while relaxing in one of the deep-soak tubs. The honeymoon package includes three nights in one of the treehouses, a bottle of French champagne, organic chocolate, a three-course dinner each night (with a five-course, wine-paired dinner one night!) and a massage for each of the newlyweds. Fiji Honeymoon Packages

Likuliku Lagoon Resort : No trip to Fiji is complete without a stay in one of its overwater bungalows (or as they say in Fiji, bures ). Likuliku Lagoon Resort's Celebration package is ideal for honeymoons as it includes an hour-long couples massage and a bottle of sparkling wine when you book a five-night stay. The room price includes all meals, bottled water and use of non-motorized water sports—but you'll likely spend most of your time here diving off your private deck into the crystalline waters, which are that dreamy!

Yasawa Island Resort & Spa : Located in the sunniest and driest part of Fiji, Yasawa Island Resort & Spa is the only resort on Yasawa Island—which means guests here have 10 private beaches all to themselves. The all-inclusive resort boasts just 18 luxury bure suites and the honeymoon bure is hidden at the end of a deserted white beach with a horizon pool. The price includes half-day trips to the famed Blue Lagoon Caves as well as guided snorkeling trips.

French Polynesia Honeymoon Packages

Bora Bora honeymoon packages are highly-desired with airline partners often partnering with resorts to help ease the burden of long-haul travel from the US.

Le Taha'a by Pearl Resorts : With the island of Taha'a on one side, Bora Bora on the other and crystal-clear Tahitian waters all around, a stay in one of this resort's overwater bungalows is the perfect romantic honeymoon spot. You can choose a half-board package here—we recommend the spa offer for daily breakfast and one traditional Taurumi Polynesian massage per person

There's so much to enjoy across Southeast Asia, especially for honeymooners seeking pristine beaches and culture. These regions provide the perfect combination of beauty, beaches and culture all in one romantic getaway. It's here that you'll find overwater bungalows galore (we're looking at you, Maldives). These bungalows are often perched above pristine waters, where honeymooners laze the day away on their daybed and take dips in the ocean via their private deck.

Maldives Honeymoon Packages

Thatched-roof, overwater bungalows with glass floors and utmost privacy are what most couples imagine when considering a Maldivian getaway. Most, however, walk away with far greater of an experience, especially if Maldives honeymoon packages are properly arranged well in advance.

Jumeirah Maldives Olhahali Island : To get to the Maldives, most couples from the US will have to experience a layover or two (often a prerequisite before landing at a fine destination worth visiting). Jumeirah is offering its dual-trip stopover package, which includes a two-night stay at the iconic Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Couples can get situated in the lap of luxury before flying to the Maldives, where they'll then enjoy four nights at the new Jumeirah property on Olhahali Island.

The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island : Arguably one of the most well-known properties in the region, the Conrad Maldives is located right along the South Ari Atoll. With 12 restaurants and bars, including the all-glass undersea restaurant Ithaa, as well as two spas, couples can find their ultimate honeymoon bliss. Specific packages for honeymooners are reserved, including private jet ski outings and more arranged by the concierge team. Inquire upon booking.

Huvafen Fushi Maldives : If you prefer your bungalow to come with its own private plunge pool, you're looking in the right place. At Huvafen Fushi Maldives, it feels as if it's just you, your new spouse and the fish (you'll see them via the glass floor in the Ocean Bungalow rooms). Honeymooners love the underwater spa, and a 60-minute treatment comes included in the resort's Romance package, which also includes a bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped fruits on arrival, daily breakfast (and one floating breakfast), a private four-course candlelit dinner and complimentary snorkeling equipment.

Honeymooning stateside can be totally romantic. Be it a northern lights camp, a lush resort or a private island hotel, there are loads of options and vast lands to explore in the United States. Florida, a beach-lover's favorite, offers oceanside cottages that feel as if you've been transported to the South Pacific. And of course, there's Hawaii: a cluster of islands that's practically synonymous with jet-setting honeymoons—complete with fragrant floral leis, tropical mai tais, hula dancing, and some of the finest US honeymoon packages. Those who want more of an active, outdoorsy honeymoon should look north to Alaska for breathtakingly beautiful scenery. According to The Knot Honeymoon Study, approximately half of all couples in 2022 chose to honeymoon in the US. Considering the breadth of experiences and options available to newlyweds, it's a fair choice.

Alaska Honeymoon Packages

If the Northern Lights, wildlife sightings and fresh seafood are among your bucket-list items for the honeymoon, then an Alaska honeymoon package will serve you well.

Borealis Basecamp : Just 25 miles from Fairbanks, Alaska, Borealis Basecamp sits on 100 acres of boreal forest—but the real draw here is its clear-topped domes where honeymooners can watch the northern lights dance above them while snuggled up in bed. There are various autumn and winter packages available and, depending on which one you choose, activities such as an Alaskan dog sledding tour and meeting reindeer.

Stillpoint Lodge : At the foot of Kachemak Bay State Park, get lost in the remarkable Alaskan wilderness with a stay at Stillpoint Lodge. There are several packages to choose from here—we like the look of the Adventure package or the Nature & Nurture package for your honeymoon. Each package includes organic meals, one spa treatment per person and various activities like brown bear watching and guided eco-tours.

Florida Honeymoon Packages

The peninsula is home to some of the most luxe resorts in the US, which means Florida honeymoon packages offer romance and amenities.

The Faena Hotel Miami Beach : The five-star property with prime beach access in Miami oozes romance. The Faena's "Suite Dreams" package includes two complimentary treatments at the spa, daily breakfast for two at the Poolside Veranda, a $200 resort credit, butler service for only certain suite tiers, early check-in and late check-out, complimentary valet parking, a welcome amenity, and a complimentary rollaway bed or crib (in case a little one is involved). Oh–and did we mention the suites are, indeed, a dream?

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa : This honeymoon resort may be located in Little Torch Key, Florida, but it feels more like the South Pacific. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, this oasis is plopped on a 5.5-acre private reserve and allows no more than 60 guests at one time. Here, thatched-roof private bungalows come equipped with private verandas, outdoor showers and beds draped in gauzy butterfly netting—but they're void of phones and television. The Culinary Paradise package will delight foodies with its welcome bottle of champagne, daily breakfast, three-course lunch, four-course dinner and $100 spa credit per person, per day.

Hawaii Honeymoon Packages

Hawaii honeymoon packages are a must-consider for couples who want to indulge in all that the Aloha State has to offer. Between Maui's world-class resorts and Kauai's adventure offerings, there's no need to secure a visa when honeymooning in this domestic paradise.

The Westin Maui: Nestled right along a prime oceanfront area of Ka'anapali Beach, the resort's "Love Travels" package comes with accommodations in the renovated Hokupa'a luxury tower, which gives couples immediate access to the Lanai lounge. There, romance awaits with a private bar, plunge pool, daily breakfast and evening cocktails and demonstrations. The package also includes a signature couple's massage and dinner at the acclaimed restaurant Waicoco.

Koʻa Kea Resort on Poipu Beach : Poipu Beach is where the honeymooners flock for romance and gently lapping waves that crest on golden sand. Koʻa Kea's " Master of Moons " package is custom-tailored per couple as honeymoons have evolved into familymoons, bestiemoons and more. Booking include romantic experiences like candlelit dinners, sunset cruises, oceanfront massages at the spa, as well as horseback riding along the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail. Depending on the level of your package, you can also request a honeymoon photoshoot to document the gorgeous experience.

Las Vegas Honeymoon Packages

Foodies and nightlife-adoring couples who like variety will appreciate Las Vegas honeymoon packages. Consider the casinos and entertainment options as added amenities, though the F&B credits will especially do the trick.

The Venetian Resort: One of the higher-end properties in Sin City easily offers romance at every turn, especially with its views of Vegas, as well as its fine dining scene. Costco's package for suites , however, is one that should be seriously considered among couples who desire daily food and beverage credits, as well as complimentary parking.
