To be honest, we don't know.

At this point we have not heard of any plans to do so. This does not mean, that the Indonesian government is not planning to add more countries. But for now, we cannot predict when and which countries would be added. We understand that the Visa costs are substantial. Bali, more than any other region in Indonesia hopes, that all restrictions will be lifted soon, and we can all freely travel again.

No, this is not possible.

A B211A Visa, that would allow you to stay for 60 days (and can be extended) needs to be applied for OFFSHORE, while you are outside of Indonesia.

Titre de Voyage : This is a term often used, especially in French-speaking countries.

Refugee Travel Document : Many countries use the term “Refugee Travel Document” to describe this type of travel document.

Travel Document for Aliens : Some countries may use this more general term to describe the document for individuals who are not citizens.

Convention Travel Document : This term is associated with the 1951 Refugee Convention, which established the legal status and rights of refugees. The Convention Travel Document is recognized under this agreement.

Laissez-Passer : In some cases, the term “laissez-passer” is used, especially by international organizations. It essentially means “let pass” or “let travel” in French.

Certificate of Identity : This term may be used in some countries or by certain organizations.

Special Travel Document : Another generic term that can be used to describe a travel document for individuals with specific legal statuses.

Asylum Travel Document : In some countries, this term is used to describe the document issued to those granted asylum.

Document of Identity : Another term that may be used to describe a travel document for stateless individuals or refugees.

Passport Substitute : Some countries may simply refer to it as a passport substitute or a document that serves the purpose of a passport for certain individuals.

No, this is not possible.

A 211A Visa, that would allow you to stay for 60 days (and can be extended) needs to be applied for OFFSHORE, while you are outside of Indonesia.

YES. This visa is forIndonesia and not just a region or specific island. Therefore any type of Visa (Visa on Arrival or 211A etc.) is valid for Indonesia and you can travel within Indonesia freely .

It can happen, that suddenly regulations change or other reasons that make your B211A technically obsolete for you.

Once we have started the process with the immigration and submitted your documents, it cannot be cancelled and no refund can be granted.

If you have applied and we have not yet submitted the application to the immigration office, you can ask for a refund. We will keep a 15% administration fee. Depending on your payment method it can take between 2 and 10 business days until the money is back in your account.

If your Visa has been issued, but you don’t need it anymore because you can get a Visa on Arrival, it will be valid and you can still use it to enter Indonesia and stay 60 days without extension. You can use it, and don’t need to pay for the Visa on Arrival.

Rules and regulations can change quite quickly which could cause delays.

There are some theoretical risks that we want you to be aware of, before applying for a visa and planning your trip to Bali:

1.) The government could technically change the regulations any day, and deny the arrival of any applicant coming to Indonesia. This means for example, that even if you have already received your e-visa and bought a flight ticket, and you might not to able to travel to Indonesia as planned and have to reschedule, you can not ask for a refund.

2.) Also, the immigration can deny your application, without giving any reasons or feedback to us our our facilitating visa agent. This happens very very rarely but it can happen and the immigration office has the right to do so.

3.) These days the immigration is quite efficient and stays within the time limit to issue the visa after the visa application has been submitted. However, sometimes delays can still occur, which can be due to changes in regulations and requirements, longer holidays in Indonesia or problems with the immigration software, or other reasons that are beyond our control.

4.) We cannot be held responsible for any delays or if the visa gets denied, or gets issued wrongly caused by regulation changes or the performance of any third party, such as but not limited to visa agents, immigration officials, government software failures.

Full Terms and Conditions for the Visa Application Service

Once you reach the arrival hall at the airport after leaving the airplane you will have to approach the immigration checkpoint & counters.

Immigration:

Officials have now installed new e-Gates (digital Entry Gates) to get through the immigration in Bali. There are still counters with Immigration Officers in the arrival hall. But with your e-Visa you can get through the immigration using the electronic gates by scanning your passport. There will be Immigration officers in the hall telling you where to queue.

At the electronic gates, you will scan your passport and once you are through you will receive per email an e-ITK, your Visa Stay Permit. It’s a PDF that acknowledges your arrival (see sample below).

Because you will not get a stamp in your passport anymore if you use the e-Gate the system will register your arrival electronically.

System Error when using the e-Gate to get through immigration: On the e-ITK sometimes there is an error stating that the validity of your Visa is the same day of your arrival while it should be the last day of the validity of your visa. Remember that your 211A Visa is valid for a stay of 60days (and 30 days for Visa on Arrival C1-4.)

How political unrest is impacting tourism

If this continues, within the next two months, Bangladesh-India tourist tours will drop to zero

Shamima Rita

Due to political instability, the ongoing dollar crisis, price hikes, and visa complications, approximately 70% of tours departing from Bangladesh have been cancelled, according to the Bangladesh Tour Operator Association.

However, the association believes the situation will normalize within the next two to three months.

Leaders of several tour operator organizations in Bangladesh reported that the tourism industry is currently experiencing its worst period. There are no domestic or international tourists travelling.

Since the Awami League government resigned on August 5, the Indian Embassy has stopped issuing visas. Although some visas are granted for medical emergencies, all passports that applied for visas a month ago are being returned. If this continues, within the next two months, Bangladesh-India tourist tours will drop to zero. Additionally, Bangladesh has already been facing tourist visa issues in Dubai and Sri Lanka, they added.

The associations have warned that if the situation does not improve quickly, the tourism business will collapse.

Imrul Islam Emon is the secretary general of the Bangladesh Outbound Tour Operators Association and chairman of Creative Tour Agency. He said: “The tourism industry in Bangladesh has been facing various obstacles due to the dollar crisis and price hikes. The situation worsened when the dollar rate reached Tk100. Additionally, there are syndicates over airline tickets.”

He mentioned that they mainly arrange small family tours, but the tourism business has been in a very bad state since Eid-ul-Azha, having been shut down for two months.

“Now, after the government's fall, the situation is even more lamentable. Just two days ago, they sold two tickets, whereas they used to sell around Tk40 to 50 lakh worth of tickets per month. If this trend continues, the tourism business will collapse.”

According to the Bangladesh Outbound Tour Operators Association, they have about 46 tour operator agencies, all experiencing the same situation.

Tour operator organizations reveal that India is the most popular destination for Bangladeshi tourists. Every year, about 50% of tourists travelling abroad from Bangladesh visit India, followed by 20% to Thailand, and 10-15% to Malaysia and Singapore. Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka see 5-8% of the tourist traffic, while Vietnam, Bali, and Turkey see 2-3%. The Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, sees 10-15% of Bangladeshi tourists, while North America and Australia issue visas to 2-5%. Pakistan recently offered a visa-free travel facility to Bangladesh, which could add a new dimension to the tourism industry, according to tour operator leaders.

Tour Operators of Bangladesh Secretary General Nizamuddin Bhuiyan said: “Their peak business season is from October to January, but December and January see the most business due to school and college holidays. July and August are their second peak times because the A-Level and O-Level exams conclude then. Many travel abroad for family tours during this time, but the political situation has halted all foreign travel. Even domestic tours to places like Tanguar Haor, Sylhet, and Sajek have been stopped. Customers have cancelled about 70% of their tours, and some are rescheduling but without specifying when they will travel.”

Due to political instability in Bangladesh, many countries are hesitant to issue visas, leading to a high number of visa cancellations. Immigration complications have also increased, resulting in cancelled tour plans.

Imrul Islam Emon added that many countries have banned activities for Bangladeshi tourists. Sri Lanka has closed on-arrival visas for Bangladeshis, and India has banned them due to the current political instability. Dubai is also experiencing significant visa complications. These issues are causing significant losses for both the operators and the government.

The Indian Embassy issues an average of 5,000 to 5,500 visas daily. Bangladesh is the largest source of foreign tourists to India. However, since August 5, the embassy has stopped issuing visas, although they have resumed issuing a limited number of visas since Thursday.

Nizamuddin Bhuiyan mentioned that travelling is a hobby, and no one wants to travel with complications. In this situation, not only international but also domestic tours have been cancelled. He hopes that within the next two to three months, the situation will return to normal.

It's a terrible time to be an international student. Australia is the latest country to limit visas.

  • Australia plans to cut new international student enrollment by a third next year.
  • The cap follows a surge in international students post-pandemic, straining the rental market.
  • Similar measures in Canada aim to reduce housing costs and improve education quality.

Insider Today

Australia is capping new international students next year, in an effort to curb record migration.

The country plans to limit international student enrollments to 270,000 in 2025, Australian education minister announced on Tuesday. In 2023, there were just over 400,000 new international students.

"There's about 10% more international students in our universities today than before the pandemic, and about 50% more in our private vocational and training providers," education minister Jason Clare said in a press briefing on Tuesday. "These reforms are designed to make it better and fairer, and set it up on a more sustainable footing going forward."

The government will assign each university or vocational institute an individual limit.

Australia has about 718,000 total international students , primarily from China , India, and Nepal, according to 2024 education department figures .

Curbs on migration were first announced in December, when Australia said it would tighten visa scrutiny for graduates and require students to secure higher scores on their English proficiency tests.

The restrictions come after a period of concessions to encourage foreign workers and students who left during the pandemic to return to Australia. That created an influx of foreigners, which worsened the pressure on the country's tight rental market.

Clare added that the restrictions will also limit the amount of "shonks" — people and businesses exploiting the demand for international education in Australia. Authorities have previously said that some providers participate in unethical practices or scams, such as recruiting students who are not proficient enough in English to do well, luring students with the promises of jobs , or promising tuition fee discounts to those who recruit other students.

Canada announced similar limitations earlier this year, in an effort to bring down the costs of buying and renting homes.

Canada's immigration agency said in January that it will cap the number of acceptances for international study permits. The move is expected to cut the number of students by 35% compared to last year and reduce the number of " puppy mills " that provide poor-quality education.

According to a study by education consultant IDP, the US, Australia, the UK, and Canada are hotspots for those seeking international education, with countries like Germany, New Zealand, and Ireland gaining interest in recent years.

Since May 2023, the UK has clamped down on international students bringing their families on all student visas, except postgraduate research and those with government scholarships. The changes have also reduced the number of people using student passes as a loophole to work. The government forecast that the changes would lead to 140,000 fewer people coming to the country.

In the US,  dwindling chances  of landing a work visa after graduation because of the H-1B lottery system have made the country less attractive for some foreign students. A Trump-era executive order  denying visas to Chinese graduate students also slashed the number of enrollments.
