The single channel DIN Rail Temperature Signal Converter and Trip Amplifier D1073S accepts a low level dc signal from millivolt, thermocouple or RTD temperature sensor, located in Hazardous Area, and converts, with isolation, the signal to drive a Safe Area load.

Output signal can be direct or reverse. Two independent Alarm Trip Amplifiers are also provided. Each alarm energizes, or de-energizes, an SPST relay for high, low, low-startup or burnout alarm functions. The two alarm relays trip points are settable over the entire input signal range.

Description

The Define Instruments Sentry trip amplifier accepts analog inputs from a range of industrial sensors, including: process, temperature, flow, frequency, and voltage. Inputs are electrically isolated form the output and the power supply, avoiding the potential for signal degradation from earth loops. It is designed to monitor input signals and switch its relays on and off to provide control and alarm functions.

With the optional analog output it can convert weaker signals into standard signals such as 4 to 20mA that can transmit longer distances and interface with PLCs and SCADA systems.

The Sentry features a universal power supply for both AC mains and 24VDC applications. This means no stocking high and low voltage versions or worrying whether you've taken the right one with you to the job. It can produce 22V excitation, enough to power common sensors two-wire and transmitters.

The Sentry is simple to setup and calibrate with the help of Define's ToolBox software, which explains all the Sentry's functions and features. It has an extensive library of pre-calibrated ranges and linearization tables for advanced scaling.

A trip amplifier is defined as a device that allows an Analog signal to be converted to a Relay output. The Relay output controls the variation of a physical unit in a system measured by temperature sensors or normalized signals and operates when the measured value goes outside pre-determined limits, energizing or de-energizing the relay controlling devices like valves and actuators. What Does Datexel offer? Datexel manufactures a large range of Trip Amplifiers and Process Limit Alarms that accept universal inputs and provide relays outputs. The DAT5024P is an economical choice of process limit alarm with the ability of being PC programmable for RTD's Thermocouples, Resistance, voltage or current inputs, and has 2 relays outputs (SPDT) with delay timers. The DAT5024AO is a process limit alarm with the ability to provide an analog output which is proportional to the analog input. The DAT5028 features a universal input trip amplifier and is also an isolated signal converter and has a local display with up to 4 relays and is DIP switch programmable. The inputs can be Thermocouples, RTD, mV, mA, Resistance, Potentiometers or Voltage. They can be supplied fully configured or set up by PC or DIP switches.

The SEM1630 is a universal trip amplifier and provides a dual relay switch function for RTD or Thermocouple sensors as well as mA and mV signals. Its relays can be programmed to be either high or low alarms and required a separate 24Vdc power supply.

Designed for ease of use, the universal trip amplifier uses a USB port for quick and easy configuration. Just connect a standard USB cable between the product and your PC and you’re ready to go. Using our free configuration software, your PC will automatically read the current configuration data and guide you through any changes you wish to make. To further help save time, the SEM1630 range does not need to be wired to a power supply during the configuration process, it is powered via the USB interface from your PC.

  • Signal Converters Signal converters convert the format of the input signals into the desired output format. In addition to the pure conversion of signals, signal converters also offer the possibility of filtering or linearizing signals. A signal transmitter is a device that transmits data from one place to another. In the case of mechanical equipment, a signal transmitter sends a process signal like temperature, pressure or humidity from a measurement apparatus to an electronic device like a panel meter, controller or computer. In the machinery or test environment, signal transmission is of critical importance. This is because of the nature of testing itself.
  • Signal Isolators Signal isolators provide electrical (galvanic) isolation between the input and output circuits. They couple the signal to the output through a transformer or optical isolator. Applications

  • Linearised, electronic temperature measurement with RTD or TC sensor.
  • Conversion of linear resistance variation to a standard analogue current / voltage signal, i.e. from solenoids and butterfly valves or linear movements with attached potentiometer.
  • Power supply and signal isolator for 2-wire transmitters.
  • Process control with 2 pairs of potential-free relay contacts and analogue output.
  • Galvanic separation of analogue signals and measurement of floating signals.
  • The PR 4116 is designed according to strict safety requirements and is thus suitable for application in SIL 2 installations.

4510 Display/Programming Interface

Application:

  • Communications interface for modification of operational parameters in 4116.
  • Can be moved from one 4116 module to another and download the configuration of the first converter to subsequent converters.
  • Fixed display for readout of process data and status

Technical characteristics:

  • LCD display with 4 lines; line 1 (H = 5.57 mm) shows input signal, line 2 (H = 3.33 mm) shows units. Line 3 alternates between digital output value and scaling (kHz, Hz, mHz, P/m, P/h, P/d) or shows TAG no. Line 4 shows tendency readout for the input signal and communication status.
  • Programming access can be blocked by assigning a password. The password is saved in the converter in order to ensure a high degree of protection against unauthorised modifications to the configuration.

4511 Modbus Communications Interface

  • The 4511 detachable display adds Modbus RTU RS485 serial communications to all current and future 4000/9000 series units
  • All individual unit operating parameters can easily and quickly be configured by using the Modbus communication or by using the front display menu
  • The 4511 display can be used to read the process signal, simulate the output signal, indicate sensor errors and internal device errors
  • 4511 has full 4501 functionality for programming and display
  • RS485 Modbus RTU protocol 
  • Multi-drop half-duplex connection via shielded RJ45 connector on top of module
  • Modbus parameters such as address, baud rate, stop bit(s) and parity bits are configured from, and stored on, the 4511 interface
  • 2.5kVAC galvanic isolation between serial wiring and 4000/9000 units

  • Program devices via Bluetooth using an iOS/Android device running the free PPS app (PR Process Supervisor).
  • Use PPS data for preventive maintenance.
  • All logged data can be exported in .csv format, for advanced data analysis off-site.
  • On-site analysis of real-time process data on an iOS/Android compatible device.
  • Off-site analysis of historic process data on a PC using PReset.
  • PR 4512 runs Bluetooth 4.2, and requires a smart device with 4.0 or newer.
  • PPS is compatible with iOS and Android devices.
  • The PR 4512 automatically detects the device setting on the connected PR 4000 and 9000 device.
  • An internal battery energizes the 4512 real-time clock for at least 2 years, should the 4512 remain de-energized.
  • Typical data logging capacity is more than 30 days at 1 second intervals.

The image on the right links to the Google Play store to download the PR Electronics PPS application used to enables Android devices to connect to the Bluetooth Communications Interface. The app allows for the configuration, viewing of sensor live data and collection of logged data using the wireless Bluetooth connection.

Output signal can be direct or reverse. Output function can be configured as: Adder, subtractor, low/high selector. Modbus RTU RS-485 output is available on Bus connector. Cold junction compensation can be programmed as automatic, using an internal temperature sensor or fixed to a user-customizable temperature value.

D5273S offers two independent trip amplifiers via two SPDT output relays. Mounting on standard DIN-Rail, with or without Power Bus, or on customized Termination Boards, in Safe Area or in Zone 2.
