Airbnb Hashtags for Instagram, TikTok (Copy and Paste)

Instagram and TikTok are excellent platforms for your business to grow. They allow you to reach out to potential customers, build a community of followers, and make money from your photos and videos. But how do you achieve these things? In addition to content being the top factor, hashtags are the second tool you can optimize immediately.

There are thousands of hashtags, and they change every day. This is why it is impossible for any human being to manually search through all of them and find the most relevant ones for your business.

Luckily, after a while of selection and research, today we will share lists of the most relevant and trending Airbnb hashtags for you to use for your content on TikTok and Instagram. We will also show tips and tools to help you do this faster and more comfortably.

Let’s start!

Best Airbnb Hashtags For Growth

Before going into each hashtag and its metrics, here is an explanation of the terms in the tables:

  • Posts : means the total number of posts using the hashtag at the time of update.
  • Daily Posts : the average number of posts per day using the hashtag at the update time. The larger this number, the more competitive the hashtag.
  • Views : means the total number of views that the hashtag has up to the time of update.

Most Popular Hashtags

Below are the most popular Airbnb hashtags you can add to your content. However, these are high-competition hashtags with over one million posts on them (for Instagram). You better combine them with small-to-medium competition ones for the best results.

#travel #travelblogger #getaway #staycation #airbnb #booking #bedandbreakfast #homeawayfromhome #guesthouse #bnb #vacationrental #holidayhome #airbnbhost #vacationhome #airbnbexperience #airbnbsuperhost #vrbo #superhost #bookingcom #homeaway #airbnbhomes #holidayrental #airbnbphoto #airbnblife #shorttermrental

Medium Competition Hashtags

Here are the medium-competition hashtags with over one hundred posts on them (for Instagram). It will be easier to reach your target audience with these hashtags than with the high-competition ones above. However, the high-competition ones will help you get the most if you keep high rankings on the hashtag page.

#airbnbbrasil #airbnblove #airbnbexperiences #bookwithus #luxurystay #airbnbitaly #airbnboftheday #airbnbtravel #airbnbguest #bestairbnb #superhostairbnb #comestaywithus #airbnbhosts #airbnbaustralia #bookyourstay #airbnbcleaning #airbnbguide #airbnbplus #airbnbhome #airbnbtips #apartmentrental #airbnbjapan #airbnbfrance #airbnbmexico #airbnbdesign

Low Competition Hashtags

Here are the easiest-competition hashtags with only under one hundred posts on them (for Instagram). These are probably the best hashtags to start your content promotion campaign if you are a new account. You just need to copy and paste them into your content. However, they will not yield explosive growth like high and medium competition ones. So, combine all three types with a particular ratio corresponding to each development stage of your account.

#airbnbcanada #airbnbdecor #bestplacetostay #airbnbhosting #airbnbbali #airbnbrental #airbnbturkey #airbnbbusiness #airbnbpuertorico #airbnbmalaysia #airbnbcabin #airbnbphotographer #airbnbportugal #airbnbatlanta #airbnbpartner #airbnbguests #airbnbsp #airbnbjamaica #airbnbph #airbnbnigeria #airbnbdicas #airbnbopen #airbnbcleaningservices #airbnbseoul #airbnbspain

Target Demographic for Airbnb Hashtags

Hashtags are necessary for helping you reach more people, but the content is the most important thing to get followers. To have attractive content, besides keeping up with the trending topics, you must also know who your content is mainly for. After analyzing more than 1000 Airbnb-related hashtags, demographic data shows us the age group most interested in this topic is 25-34, and primarily women. The specific data is as follows:

Most-followed Accounts for #Airbnb

Here are the 20 most followed accounts on Instagram and TikTok in the industry. You can use this list to see how to create engaging content and find trending -related hashtags.

How to Use Hashtags to Gain Followers

Hashtags (#) are specialized and unique keywords that boost the reach of your content on social networking sites. Users may access all social media postings using the same hashtag by tapping on any of them.

People use hashtags to organize content and increase target market interaction. For the best outcomes, you must be strategic in your use of them. That’s easier said than done.

Besides having to find the relevant and trending hashtags to put on your Instagram and TikTok posts, there are many things to know to have an ok strategy. Here are a few things that you should keep in mind.

1. Define and Analyze Your Target Customers

If you are starting a new business, you have to think of the audience you want to target. Do you want to sell products to people interested in sports or fashion? If your business is for people who like sports, what type of sport is it, how old are the players, and what gender are they?

If you want more followers and engagement on your Instagram and TikTok accounts, you should know who is most likely to like your content and what content they are most interested in. A thorough understanding of your audience will help you create an appropriate content plan, including selecting hashtags.

2. Using Relevant Hashtags Is Important

Ensure that your hashtags relate to the content of your post. Otherwise, Instagram and TikTok’s algorithms can’t correctly classify your content and deliver them to people who really care, which causes poor engagement. This is also why your content does not rank high on hashtag pages.

For instance, if your business specializes in female fitness, it’s best to choose relevant hashtags like #girlswholift, #girlswithmuscle, or #fitnessgirl.

3. Overusing Can Hurt You

You may occasionally see people putting a lot of hashtags in their content, ranging from related hashtags to unrelated ones. This may help them in some way, and that is their intention. However, what works for their business probably won’t work for yours.

So don’t overdo them. They not only annoy your existing followers but also run the risk of making TikTok and Instagram’s algorithms flag or even ban your account. The end will be no good.

Follow the rules of social platforms! You should only put 15-20 hashtags on Instagram posts and 3-5 hashtags on TikTok posts. Also, don’t just copy and paste a repetitive list of hashtags into your content. Be selective and randomly use the ones that work.

4. Which Hashtags Actually Give You Engagement?

Use your favorite hashtags and track their effectiveness to see whether they are helpful for your business. Ask yourself questions like which ones bring in traffic, which increases engagement rates, which turns visitors into customers, etc.

You can do this tracking manually via Google sheets, though it’s pretty time-consuming and challenging to scale up. Here are some tools that can help you speed this process up:

  • Flick helps to find more quality hashtags to drive more impressions, profile views, and reach untapped audiences. It also helps create consistency with all aspects of your Instagram account, organized by project.
  • Later allows you to perform almost all tasks to grow Tiktok and Instagram accounts, such as scheduling posts, analyzing demographics, account growth, and hashtag performance.
  • Analisa gives you much information to analyze on your Instagram and Tiktok accounts, although the price to use is relatively high compared to the other recommended tools. You will be interested in metrics: Top Hashtag Participants, Post vs Engagement Comparison, Influencers Identification, and Follower Demographic.

Thanks to these tools, you can evaluate the effectiveness of your hashtag marketing strategy and find trending and suggested hashtags.

5. Don’t Ignore Trends

Always follow the trend to use hashtags that are easy to rank hashtag pages on Instagram and TikTok. But remember to create content that aligns with that trend and your account.

Most importantly, don’t hesitate to modify your hashtags if they are ineffective. Replace them with similar ones, which can help get much engagement and reach.

This way will enable you to attract more new potential target audiences for a lower investment

In conclusion, Instagram and TikTok can be a great way for business owners to find new customers located all over the world by using relevant hashtags.

It is important to research and find the right hashtags that your target audience will be searching for. The more specific you are with your hashtags, the better chance you have of showing up in their search. They should fit your niche, and you have to try it out to see what works best for you.

The Airbnbhashtags that you found on our site are the most popular and trending ones ever used on Instagram. If you want your business to grow, this is the place to be.

Related hashtags you should consider adding to your content for explosive growth are apartment , real estate , and travel .

10 + Secrets to Promote your Airbnb on Instagram

' src=

In this article, I want to show you the secrets to promote your Airbnb on Instagram! Instagram is the best social media platform to give a comprehensive, authentic snapshot of your Airbnb. It’s a powerful marketing tool that lets guests see what your Airbnb is about, instantly!

With over 500 million active daily users scrolling through Instagram, many (like us) are dreaming of the day they can travel again. With many Airbnb hosts experiencing little to no bookings in this period, take this time to get your Instagram account looking great!

Now is the time to create a buzz about your Airbnb and attract future guests. With these simple tricks, you can get guests clicking over to your Airbnb listing and saving you to their favorites.

1. Fill out Your Entire Bio.

Your bio is so important because this is where you can describe the location and feel of your Airbnb. This is also where you need to put a direct link to your Airbnb listing.  So many accounts are missing this, it’s in the ‘website’ section)

Make sure your bio contains these 3 key points:

  • Where you are located
  • The description and feel of your Airbnb
  • Link to your Airbnb listing

2. Think of your Airbnb As a Brand.

Research shows that you have about 3 seconds to captivate someone’s interest on Instagram before they move on. Therefore, when thinking of the overall branding of your Airbnb ask yourself these two questions:

  • How do you want to be seen? (A cozy cabin in the woods, a cool hideaway in the desert, a modern apartment in the city…)
  • What are 5 emotions you want guests to ‘feel’ about your Airbnb when they come to your Instagram account?  Maybe joy, inspiration, intrigue, interest, desire to stay there, etc.

If your Airbnb is a ‘cabin in the woods’ you want to try to highlight everything unique about that vacation experience in your feed like quietness, nature, and space.  Therefore, always post with the potential guest in mind and you’ll truly promote your Airbnb on Instagram. If you make the viewer feel ’emotion’ and connect with your Airbnb there is more of a chance they will book!

3. Make Authentic Connections.

What works best on Instagram is making connections with your followers. When you get a new follower, start by liking other a few posts or dropping a comment. Also, remember to reply to their comments on your feed to encourage them to engage with other posts in the future.

Engaging with your followers means that potential guests get to know you beyond the static Airbnb profile. If you stop and think about it, we all prefer to do business with people we know like and trust, don’t we?

When guests see you on a social level, it’s easier for guests to remember you when they’re thinking about where to spend their next vacation or long weekend.

4. Send New Followers a Welcome Message

You can send new followers also an introduction message ( just draft one and copy-paste) Something like:

Thank you so much for your follow! Our Superhost Airbnb ‘Sunset Loft’ is in the heart of San Diego, just a short walk to Balboa Park. You can find us here: add Link to your listing

5. Like and Comment

To promote your Airbnb on Instagram, make sure to scroll daily and like and comment (even if it’s just an emoji) in your news feed. This will get them clicking over to your Instagram feed more often and liking your content. The more engagement YOUR account receives sends a message to the algorithm gods that your account is something people ‘must want to see’ and shows your content to more potential guests.

It feels great when someone likes your content so share the Instalove!

6. Use Captions that Connect.

If people will stop and listen to your words, you have a much better chance of them connecting with your Airbnb and staying there in the future. You want to be authentic and write in a way that guests can ‘picture themselves waking up in your Airbnb’ and enjoying everything about their stay.

Here are some examples:

  • Imagine waking up to this sunrise every morning on our lovely deck.
  • There are over 30 miles of hiking trails in our Airbnb’s backyard to enjoy.
  • Our guests love the easy nature walk to the village where they can enjoy the peacefulness of the forest.
  • Enjoy an early morning swim and breakfast on our dock! The best bakery in town is only a 5-minute walk away.
  • This picturesque beach is at the end of our long stretch of a beach, walk there along the sand, bike ride, or drive a few minutes down the road.

7. Use the Right Hashtags.

Instagram images with hashtags are shown in the order of the time they are posted. Therefore, 12:00 pm is one of the best times to post travel related images on Instagram. This is a time of day people are free, taking a break, and daydreaming a bit while scrolling. By using the proper hashtags your Airbnb’s post will be visible for many hours, during the time people are most active on Instagram.

Tag Your Location

Instagram can filter content by location. If you want to be seen whenever someone searches for the location you’re in, then add a location tag to your photos and videos.

Use all 30 Hashtags

You get a max of 30 hashtags per post, always use them all! The easiest way is to write out your best 30 and save them on your phone. For example, if your Airbnb is in LA use hashtags people search for when thinking of traveling there like:

#airbnbLosAngeles #LA #losangeles #losangelesAirbnb #LAairbnb #airbnbLA #airbnb #airbnbhost #Hollywood #Venicebeach etc.

8. Use Instagram Stories.

Over 500 million people use Instagram Stories daily! This means it’s possible to reach a huge number of potential Airbnb guests through it. Instagram Stories are also fun to do and remain visible to your audience for a good 24-hour period.

Stories put you on top of people’s news feeds. Where your Airbnb is so much more visible, ensuring that you’re getting seen. Not only that, but those who are not following you can also discover and view your Stories without even clicking onto your profile.

You can easily turn any post into a ‘story’ by clicking the little arrow after you have posted it.

  • Tap the paper airplane icon (share button) underneath a feed post.
  • Select “Add Post to Your Story”.
  • Edit the post in your Instagram Story — you can add text or tap to explore other sticker styles.

9. Ask Every Guest to Follow You.

Invite your guests to follow you on Instagram in your final closing message after their stay. Something like ” We loved having you stay with us! Please follow us on Instagram (include a link) We sometimes do giveaways! Sometimes guests will take the most amazing photos and you can use them in your own feed! You can also use the guest review in your captions or credit their photo and caption. These are your biggest fans, and there’s no better way to promote your Airbnb on Instagram than recent happy guests giving recommendations to stay with you!

10. Follow Those Who are Interested.

Do a little search on Instagram for other Airbnb’s in your area and note the popular ones who have a lot of followers. Chances are the last 25 followers they have are people recently interested in travel to your area- follow them! They will often click over to see who ‘you are’ and follow you back.

11. Leave a little Framed Sign.

A little sign in your Airbnb that says: Share your #Instaworthy moments! We would love if you shared them and tag us at @YourAirbnb’sInstagram. You can even come up with a hashtag for your Airbnb like #yourairbnbname. I’ve created a simple minimalist one below that you can grab here !

25 Content Ideas

Even if you are not an influencer yet (or you never plan to be!), coming up with a good hashtag strategy will help you connect to this world a little better. Once you’ve got your own system down it is super easy, too! You want to keep it unique so it won’t get buried in between other’s posts, and a good way to do that is to use a variation of topics. It is said between 5-15 is the optimal number of hashtags to have in your post, but you can add up to 30 if you feel inclined. You will want to use some referring to travel, some others specific to the setting your in, some specific to solo/couple/family travel, and lastly your destination.

Best Travel Hashtags

Creating a Hashtag Strategy:

The thing I like to do when adding travel hashtags to my post, is having a mixture of three different levels of hashtags.

Level 1: Very Popular Hashtags –

These are hashtags that are super popular and while it is unlikely you will show up at the top of that hashtags feed, if you do get at the top of the hashtag’s explore page you will get an explosion of likes and followers. I have had the forune of having this happen early in my Instagram and it really jump-started my account.

Golden Gate Bridge

Level 2: Popular But Doable:

The next level of hashtags are ones that are used often (10,000 – 100,000 times) but not the super popular hashtags. These are great because they reach a good size audience and you have a chance to end up at the top of that travel hashtags explore page.

Level 3: Niche Hashtags

I love niche travel hashtags because honestly, these are often my most engaged followers. While the numbers on these hashtags are not huge the followers you gain are so engaged. I once got hundreds of followers because I used the #disneybeachclubresort while I was in Disney World. It only had about 1000 people who used the hashtag, but those looking to stay at the resort were so engaged with my content.

Top Hashtags

Grand Wailea Luau

These may seem a little basic to you, but these are must-haves in your travel posts. Trying variations is often a good idea. For example, #travelers will probably get your post more attention than #travel because it’s unique. Like we said above, you will want to pair your travel hashtags with some tags more specific to you as well but we will start here!

Weird Things to do in Portland

One of the most common questions asked in Instagram comments is “Where are you?” because people are intrigued by experiences they might be interested in. The other reason hashtagging your location is strategic is that you will see both locals and other visitors drawn to like your post. You will want to be both general and specific with your location hashtags. For instance, you could use #mexico and #tulum. You may even want to just type in the city or region name and see what comes up!

Below I’ve listed some of the places we’ve been recently to showcause you really can find a city specific hashtag almost anywhere you go. (Remember, don’t forget to add some niche travel hashtags while you are posting about these amazing destinations)

Airbnb Instagram Marketing Strategy: Everything You Need To Know

airbnb travel hashtags

There’s plenty of generic information online about how to develop an Instagram marketing strategy to drive traffic to an Airbnb listing. While some of this information may be useful, most of it barely goes beyond the basics. That’s precisely what today’s post is about.

(Social media is only one of 5 pillars in your marketing plan.)

An Airbnb Instagram marketing strategy should leverage visuals to increase engagement and feature hashtags and keywords for discoverability. It should also use “calls to action” to encourage clicks. Ideally, each of these three elements should be optimized for differentiation.

Read on to discover the essential elements of an Airbnb Instagram marketing strategy and some of the ways you can optimize them to stand out from the competition.

Table of Contents

3 Essential Elements of Airbnb Instagram Marketing Strategy

airbnb travel hashtags

Not everyone is familiar with the essential elements of an effective Airbnb Instagram marketing strategy. If you’re just getting started, chances are you don’t know all the basics, so we might as well bring you up to speed.

At the bare minimum, an effective Airbnb Instagram marketing strategy should have the following elements:

1. Leverage Visuals To Boost Engagement

They say that boring pics don’t get clicks, and it’s true. Visuals are often the first point of contact between you and your target audience because they’re the first thing potential customers will determine if it is even worth their time clicking on your profile.

You want to make a good first impression as Airbnb hosts, don’t you?

And when you make that impression, you want it to stick for the long haul. In other words, you want consumers to keep your listing in mind until they’re making the purchase decision (in this case, booking).

Because someone looking to go on a vacation or book an Airbnb for other purposes will likely look at other listings before/after stumbling on yours.

This makes it easy to forget about your offer by the time they choose the best option for their budget and needs and is why you want to remain in the customer’s mind throughout every step of the buyer decision process. You want them to say, “remember that one property with the…”

Using visuals makes it more likely that your target audience will remember your listing beyond that first glance.

According to Brainrules.net, vision outperforms all other senses when it comes to information retention.

If you hear something today, you’ll likely remember 10% of that information three days down the line. By contrast, the average person will remember 65% of the information they saw in a picture three days ago.

Therefore, by using visuals to convey your marketing messages, you not only make a good first impression but also position yourself to remain in your target customer’s mind long enough to be considered when they make the final purchase decision.

2. Optimize for Discoverability

Optimizing for discoverability is one of the most critical elements of an Airbnb Instagram marketing strategy. If your listing isn’t appearing on the search results of people who’re actively looking to book an Airbnb, you’re leaving a lot on the table.

When users search for something, Instagram behaves pretty much like Google when it comes to choosing the results to display for that particular search query: It ranks the results according to relevance and prioritizes what’s fresh.

So, if your Instagram account and ads aren’t optimized to appear on the search results of individuals looking to book an Airbnb, you’re missing out on potential business.

There are several elements to optimizing your listing for Instagram discoverability, but they mostly revolve around two things:

  • Using relevant keywords
  • Choosing relevant hashtags (check out our article on Airbnb hashtags )

3. Feature Calls to Action (CTAs)

It’s one thing to generate leads and drive engagement through visuals and discoverability optimization, but converting those leads into bookings is a different ball game.

This is where a call to action comes in: It acts as your closer.

A strong CTA not only prompts your target audience to act but also tells them how to act. So when thinking of the type of CTA to use, consider what you’re trying to achieve with it.

Now, it might seem pretty obvious that “what you’re trying to achieve” is to turn leads into paying customers. However, business needs change, and you might find yourself wanting to increase page visitors or boost engagement (mind you, these are only two examples) so that your listing goes higher up in the search results.

When goals change, so should your CTA. To illustrate just how much of a change this needs to be, here’s a table showing examples of CTAs you can use to achieve three different goals:

Notice how the CTA changes with the goal?

It’s also worth pointing out that a CTA doesn’t always come in the form of a built-in button.

While you can certainly drive results with a “Book Now” button, you can also use text CTA’s as demonstrated in the second business goal above.

Airbnb Instagram Marketing Strategy: 3 Ways To Stand Out

airbnb travel hashtags

Incorporating the above three elements of an Airbnb marketing strategy is a great place to start. However, you shouldn’t stop there because pretty much everyone you’re competing with is doing the same things.

You need to differentiate by optimizing your visuals, keywords and hashtags, and calls to action.

Here’s three ways to stand out with Airbnb Instagram marketing:

1. Evoke Emotion By Setting The Scene

More often than not, Airbnb Instagram marketers focus on having professional photos with the perfect lighting and miss a crucial aspect: evoking emotion.

Videos and images can be emotional, and it’s easier to manipulate how your target audience feels when they see your posts through visuals. Here’s a video we did for a vacation rental owner in California. Not only are people taking the time to leave Airbnb to watch the video, they are booking in droves too. He says he has been booked up so much that it’s difficult to do repairs, like painting or electrical:

Essentially, you want to make your target customers want to go on a trip and book your place specifically. That’s the decision that needs to happen before they book an Airbnb, which is what you’re offering.

How to go about this? Well, there isn’t a universal way to do it, so you should use a bit of creativity. To get you started, here are some examples of how you can use pictures/videos to evoke emotion.

  • Capturing a beautiful view from the property you’re marketing.
  • Showcasing an enticing romantic scene around the location of the Airbnb (potentially with a happy couple featured).
  • A photo of a smiling family on the beach (it can be even better if they’re your past clients).

As you can see, not all these images showcase the Airbnb available for renting.* But what they do is essential: They make people daydream about visiting those locations, and when they decide to visit, they’re likely to book a place to stay from your Airbnb listing.

* Note : You still need plenty of images showcasing the actual Airbnb property as a starting point. These emotion-evoking images should complement the property photos, not replace them.

2. Focus On Location With Keywords and Hashtags

There are two elements to keyword and hashtag optimization:

  • Choosing the right words

The most crucial element you need to capture in your keyword and hashtag words/phrases is location.

People include a location in their search phrases, and you stand a better chance to appear in their results if your hashtag/keywords match what they key into the search bar.

It also helps to include your business name and price (e.g., $500/night Airbnb).

As for the placement, your keywords/hashtags should be incorporated in your posts, ads, and bio. And while you can add up to 30 hashtags per post, you don’t want to add that many because you might come across as spammy to Instagram and its users.

Most well-performing brands use seven to eleven hashtags per post, so consider using that as a benchmark.

3. Optimize the CTA in Your Bio, Posts, and Ads

The first aspect of CTA optimization is ensuring it aligns with your business goals, as illustrated in the table above.

Once that’s done, you need to be strategic with the placement by doing the following:

  • Adding a contact button to your bio . Typical examples of such CTAs include, “call”, “text”, “get directions,” etc.
  • Adding CTAs to posts and ads . Keep things short here by sticking to about three words. Again, make sure the CTA aligns with what you’re trying to achieve with the post/ad. E.g., “book now” is a great CTA for increasing conversions.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, there’s no “one size fits all” approach to Airbnb Instagram marketing. That’s why different businesses perform differently on the same platform, selling similar products/services.

As such, you should treat what we’ve covered in this post as a benchmark for your marketing strategy and adopt new tricks as the Instagram marketing landscape and travel industry change.

Best Hashtags for Vacation Rentals: Boost Your Instagram Game

Anna

  • Marketing and Promotion

Discover the ultimate list of hashtags for vacation rentals on Instagram. Elevate your visibility, attract guests, and boost engagement with popular hashtags!

If you've been running your short-term rental Instagram for a while and haven't seen much success, it might be time to work on your hashtags for vacation rentals strategy.

With over 1.44 billion users on Instagram, there are 1.44 billion opportunities to attract more followers and guests for your properties. Hashtags are your chance to reach a wider audience organically based on relevant interests and searches.

If you're unsure of the power of hashtags and how to use them for your short-term rental business, in this guide, we'll share everything you need to know to get started.

Why Are Hashtags for Vacation Rentals Important?

Hashtags are keywords or phrases used after the symbol "#", aiming to categorize content and make it easily discoverable. So, for example, if a user is looking for #newyork, they'll see a bunch of New York-related posts generated from Instagram users.

Here are the most important benefits of using hashtags in your social media strategy :

  • Visibility. Incorporating relevant hashtags into your Instagram posts helps you appear in niche categories where users are actively "subscribed." This increases your brand awareness and reaches a broader audience.
  • Branding. If you specialize in a niche, for example, pet-friendly accommodation, you can use related hashtags to find your "gang" of people online. Additionally, you can create your own brand hashtags, such as your business name or slogan, and build a community around your brand.
  • Engagement. People using the same hashtags as you are probably active and engaged on related topics. Engagement builds loyalty, so you want them to like, comment, and save your posts. This creates trust and warms up relationships online.
  • Bookings. Your goal with hashtags for vacation rentals is to appear in front of the right people actively looking for your product. In other words, showing up at the right place at the right time. In return, you'll get more bookings, referrals, and guests you're actually happy to host.

How to Find Related Hashtags for Vacation Rentals?

To find related hashtags for vacation rentals, you'll need to do your homework. There are many tools to help you in the process, such as Hashtagify and RiteTag . Here's a step-by-step guide:

  • Explore general travel hashtags. What are your ideal guests looking for? These hashtags could be more generic, such as #traveltips or #travelphotography, or more niche-specific, such as #lgbtqtravel or #dogtravel.
  • Explore short-term rental hashtags. Location-specific hashtags such as #CityNameVacationRentals and #CityNameAccommodation gather individuals seeking accommodation in your area. These are usually considered warm leads and are ready to convert.
  • Explore hashtags related to booking sites. If you've listed your vacation rental properties on OTAs like Airbnb , you can use related hashtags such as #AirbnbSuperhost or #AirbnbHomes. However , these hashtags won't apply to your business if you only have a direct booking website .
  • Create your own branded hashtags. That's a prime opportunity to build your own online community without "borrowing" hashtags popular on Instagram. For instance, you can create #YourBrandName and encourage guests to use it when posting your rental.

Best Practices for Implementing Instagram Hashtags for Vacation Rentals

When writing popular hashtags in your Instagram posts, follow these tips:

  • Diversify. Use a mix of niche-specific, trending, and generic hashtags popular on Instagram to diversify your content.
  • Engage with niche hashtags. Like and comment on posts with your niche hashtags to grow your network of guests and hosts and gain more reach.
  • Customize hashtags for each platform. There's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to related hashtags. Each social media platform has its own popular hashtags, so customize them before you publish.

Common Hashtag Mistakes to Avoid

While hashtags can benefit your Instagram presence, misusing them can hinder your marketing efforts. Here are some common mistakes to avoid:

  • Don't use irrelevant trending hashtags. It might be tempting, but don't incorporate non-relevant hashtags into your posts just to be "cool". This might show your posts to the wrong audiences and attract guests with different expectations.
  • Don't use complex hashtags. Keep related hashtags as simple as possible; otherwise, you risk confusing users. Straightforward hashtags with clear language will make your content easily discoverable.
  • Don't overcrowd them. Avoid looking spammy with a bunch of hashtags in your posts. Keep them between 5-10 to maintain readability.

How to Measure the Impact of Hashtags on Your Vacation Rental Business?

Like with all vacation rental marketing strategies, measuring the success of your hashtags is vital for your progress. Thankfully, most social media platforms have built-in hashtag analytics to help you track results.

Here are the most important metrics to consider:

  • Reach - how many users saw your posts
  • Impressions - how many times did users see your posts
  • Engagement - how many people liked, commented, interacted with, or saved your posts
  • Follows - how many people followed you after seeing your posts
  • Click-through rates - how many users clicked on your Instagram profile through your posts thanks to popular hashtags

If you want to interpret hashtag analytics further, you can use marketing tools such as Buffer and Hootsuite .

Be it a vacation with your friends or a staycation to escape the everyday hustle and bustle, you may have found yourself exploring Airbnb’s affordable and convenient homestays.

So, how did the vacation rental marketplace become a trailblazer in the hospitality industry? By blending collaborative consumption with experiential tourism and replacing impersonal hotel stays with a sense of community.

Founded in 2008, Airbnb struggled to build trust in its unique business model initially. The general public was naturally skeptical of letting strangers share their homes.

But today, Airbnb boasts 7.7 million listings and a community of reliable hosts around the world ready to welcome guests with open arms. The company also recorded a whopping $2.2 billion in revenue in 2023.

In this exponential success, social media played a significant role. But how did they hit the marketing bullseye with their social handles? Let’s find out.

Analysis of Airbnb social media accounts

Airbnb’s target market includes regular travelers with a budget crunch, families looking for unique experiences, and business travelers. Since the guests will be staying at someone’s home, building the appeal here was quite tricky.

That’s why the company played on the aspirational aspect of beautiful houses, which their social media profiles reflect clearly.

airbnb travel hashtags

Airbnb’s Instagram features high-quality pictures of beautiful homes that would make anybody want to pack their bag and experience Airbnb’s rentals. Even their bio, “Where to next? ” prompts the audience to start planning their next vacation.

Besides showing the aesthetic rental interiors, their Instagram reels highlight the fraternity Airbnb creates between the hosts and their guests. They showcase guests experiencing the local culture and enjoying the cozy vibes of their homestays.

In short, the feed is vibrant and builds aspiration in the audience. It makes people believe that even though they can’t afford to own such luxurious houses, Airbnb’s short-term rentals make the experience accessible for them.

While the approach was simple, it paid off, gaining Airbnb 5.6 million Instagram followers.

airbnb travel hashtags

On their Facebook page with 16 million followers, Airbnb posts giveaways and contests and introduces new Airbnb services. The brand also talks about offbeat places around the world and what makes them unique.

Such marketing leverages the audience’s desire for out-of-the-box experiences and becoming a part of something bigger. The posts show hosts cooking with their guests, guiding them across the local attractions and experiences, and creating lasting memories and relationships.

The regular contests create excitement, spreading brand awareness and driving increased engagement to the posts.

airbnb travel hashtags

Airbnb also has a thriving TikTok presence with more than 274,000 followers. The feed is filled with videos showcasing the unique experiences Airbnb offers, like a sleepover in the hidden library of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London or enjoying Christmas Eve in Santa’s official post office. The brand also posts influencer content and shares UGC on TikTok .

airbnb travel hashtags

The vacation rental marketplace doubles down on UGC marketing through its Twitter handle . Airbnb guests tweet pictures and videos of their stays and talk about their experiences, which the brand regularly reposts on its profile. Users also leave feedback for the brand, helping Airbnb flag bad hosts, improve services, and build customer relationships.

airbnb travel hashtags

Besides the main profile, Airbnb Help is the brand’s dedicated Twitter page to offer customer assistance. Here, they resolve customer complaints and post tips, tricks, and resources for hosts to help them manage their listings better.

airbnb travel hashtags

Visuals play a crucial role in Airbnb’s appeal. So, of course, YouTube has to be a significant part of the brand’s social media presence.

The brand primarily posts stop-motion animations as commercials on its YouTube channel with its 646,000 subscribers. The videos highlight what makes Airbnb rentals better than the same-old hotel rooms. Apart from that, you can see event updates, room tours, tips for hosts, and videos from Airbnb’s non-profit initiatives.

What makes Airbnb’s social media strategy successful?

By now, we understand what Airbnb’s social media looks like. So, let’s decipher how the brand used it to make homestays among the go-to accommodations for modern tourists.

1. Promoting experiences

Airbnb realized early on that they couldn’t build a sustainable business by marketing a mere accommodation platform. So, the company started marketing local experiences as the main attraction of their vacation rentals through social media campaigns.

Airbnb’s social media content stays true to its slogans “Don’t Go There, Live There.” or “Belong Anywhere.” They highlight how Airbnb offers memorable experiences that let you immerse in the local culture, cuisine, and scenery. The campaigns make taking trips seem like a transformative journey of solidarity and belongingness.

airbnb travel hashtags

For example, the above YouTube video talks about how staying with Airbnb feels like you are living in the movies.

airbnb travel hashtags

Airbnb also promotes its experiences on TikTok. For instance, the above video portrays how the viewers can join a sleepover in St. Paul’s Cathedral Library in London through Airbnb.

airbnb travel hashtags

Similarly, Airbnb launched “ Cooking on Airbnb ” in 2019, where guests can cook and exchange traditional family recipes with local hosts.

The brand’s TikTok and YouTube feature videos about never-heard-before opportunities like staying at the Sherk Swamp or spending a night in a Barbie dreamhouse. The videos are so engaging that you won’t be able to stop scrolling on their feed, even if you don’t plan to book a trip anytime soon.

To create buzz around Airbnb experiences, the vacation rental company also hosts giveaways and contests on social media.

airbnb travel hashtags

For example, Airbnb hosted the above contest as a part of their “Home With Open Arms” campaign. The winner got the rare opportunity to stay at Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s Delhi residence.

Such emphasis on experiences through social media helped Airbnb crack the very competitive hospitality market. The brand gained a substantial following on social media and became the first choice as an accommodation provider for regular and even recreational travelers.

2. Leveraging UGC

While UGC is now the favorite social proof for most top brands, its importance in the vacation rental niche could not be overstated. Living in someone else’s house can be worrisome for guests while allowing a stranger in your home can be unnerving for hosts.

Airbnb leaned into user-generated content to establish trust and turn it into a delicious marketing recipe. The brand regularly shares UGC across social media profiles to give its target audience an unbiased view of the platform’s services.

airbnb travel hashtags

Airbnb reposts tweets talking about the positive experiences of their guests. These organic endorsements act as customer testimonials.

Result? The authenticity of such marketing creates trust and encourages even skeptical customers to book rentals on Airbnb.

Want to market user-generated content but don’t know how to find them? Choose Keyhole’s social listening and get notifications anytime someone mentions your brand or uses your hashtags, and never miss a UGC again. It also offers hashtag analytics and generates suggestions for your social media campaigns.

3. Visual storytelling

The hospitality industry thrives by visually presenting what it has to offer. To build meaningful connections with the audience, Airbnb turned this necessity into compelling stories.

airbnb travel hashtags

For example, the above reel on Airbnb’s Instagram feed tells how an accidental text created a lifelong bond between Wanda and Jamal. The narrative touches the audience’s heart and creates a lasting impact.

airbnb travel hashtags

The brand’s YouTube channel features stop-motion commercial series like “Get an Airbnb” and “Airbnb It”. The commercials wove characters beautifully in an engaging storyline that lasts only a few seconds but still communicates why one should choose Airbnb over hotels.

airbnb travel hashtags

Airbnb also shares guest stories through animated videos. For instance, the above video illustrates the story of how Jörg, who was a Berlin Wall guard during the Cold War, still suffered from its horrific memories.

His daughter Catherine took him to Berlin to give him some closer, and their Airbnb host in Berlin turned out to be the same guard who patrolled the opposite side of the wall. This serendipitous meeting freed Jörg from the chains of his past and let him see the vibrant city of Berlin in a new light. The storytelling is so emotionally intricate that you can’t help but shed a tear at the end.

Such stories evoke emotions and transport the audience to that destination. You feel Wanda and Jamal’s delight and the relief for Jörg breaking the chains of his past.

4. Influencer marketing

Airbnb perfected the art of influencer collaborations by partnering with travel bloggers, adventure enthusiasts, and even celebrities. While the collaborations aren’t frequent, the ones the brand executes can be the master modules in influencer marketing.

The brand partners with TikTokers and Instagram creators to promote newly launched or exclusive experiences.

airbnb travel hashtags

For example, the vacation rental platform partnered with TikToker Lala to promote an exclusive experience designed by the influencer.

airbnb travel hashtags

On Instagram, they partnered with American rapper BigBoi and made an overnight stay at his house available for booking.

airbnb travel hashtags

Similarly, Airbnb collaborated with Christiana Aguilera to host an exclusive weekend for its guests in Las Vegas.

airbnb travel hashtags

Airbnb’s influencer marketing succeeded because the brand chose the right creators to partner with. With Keyhole’s Influencer tracking feature , you can do that, too. You can identify the top influencers in your industry, measure their organic reach, and stay updated on their ROI impact.

5. Becoming more than just a rental marketplace

Airbnb survived in the crowded hospitality industry because it didn’t limit itself to just a profit-driven business. Instead, the brand focused on creating a community built on solidarity, shared experiences, and humanity, which is evident across all their social profiles.

airbnb travel hashtags

The above video on Airbnb’s YouTube describes their mission of creating “a world where anyone can belong anywhere.”

Airbnb also runs an NGO addressing global housing problems and frequently posts about its initiatives on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. The posts highlight the unknown heroes of the cause while mentioning Airbnb’s contributions.

airbnb travel hashtags

For example, the above post shines a light on Hakan, a humanitarian aid worker, and talks about how Airbnb.org provided free housing for earthquake-impacted people in Turkey and Syria.

airbnb travel hashtags

Airbnb also features its best hosts on Instagram. Above, we get to know Emmanuel , an Airbnb host in Paris and a community volunteer, and Airbnb’s contribution to his chosen non-profit.

Everything Airbnb publishes on social media is aligned with its commitment to creating belongingness. This approach shows the platform as more than a rental marketplace . It gives people hope that they can make friends all around the world and grow through different cultural exposure.

Airbnb’s social media strategy in a glimpse

Airbnb saw a 12% year-over-year growth in revenue in the last quarter of 2023. They also get 1 million check-ins on average every day. So, it’s clear that the brand’s social media strategy is working phenomenally.

Now let’s see what this success looks like through quantifiable social media metrics:

1. Instagram

airbnb travel hashtags

From December 2023 to March 2024, Airbnb got 7810 engagements, with peaks during the first and second weeks of February.

airbnb travel hashtags

The follower growth curve shows a gradual improvement from December to March. The most frequent post types are Carousels, as Airbnb posts property pictures and experiences in that format.

2. Facebook

airbnb travel hashtags

While Airbnb’s Instagram presence is noteworthy, it didn’t find much success in Facebook marketing, with a -0.21% likes growth rate from December to March.

airbnb travel hashtags

The follower count also saw a steep downward curve in March 2024.

airbnb travel hashtags

Airbnb drove 860700 views and a 2.11% average engagement rate between December 2023 to March 2024, with it growing from 1.57% in January to 3.04% in March.

The comprehensive Keyhole report also identified the top TikTok posts in Airbnb’s feed.

The follower count also saw a steady growth during March 2024.

airbnb travel hashtags

Regarding engagement, Airbnb’s Twitter performed best during March 4th to the week of March 11th. With 176,082 impressions, the brand continues to impact its audience on social media.

Airbnb’s engagement rate on YouTube plummeted during January, recovering slightly on March 11th. However, YouTube views were the highest in March.

Be a trailblazer like Airbnb with social media listening

Airbnb’s social media strategy is rooted in honesty, authenticity, and the beauty of sharing. This turned a seemingly mundane rental marketplace into a platform that delivers experiences you will cherish for life.

Airbnb could compete with well-known hospitality brands and hotels because it:

  • Appealed to the empathy of its target customers through string storytelling
  • Leveraged UGC to create trust
  • Marketed experiences instead of mere rooms with amenities
  • Transcended from an accommodation brand to a symbol of belongingness

Want to get the same success with your digital presence? You must get an accurate pulse of your audience and stay updated about their likes and dislikes. That’s where Keyhole can help you.

Navigating the social media landscape can feel like you’re lost in the woods. Where do you start? How do you create great content? And how can it translate into more bookings? Tom Feldman of Tye Haus in Skykomish, Washington, shares his successful (and refreshingly human) approach to building a following and making your home an absolute must-visit.

“Our hosting story began back in 2012 when we bought our first A-frame, Tye Haus. We fixed it up, listed it on Airbnb, and started an Instagram account with pictures of our home alongside cinematic scenes from the area—our hikes, local attractions, what we loved on the grounds. Soon after that, popular photographer Alex Strohl reached out to us and asked about collaborating. We hosted him for two months as a sort of creative retreat in exchange for pics to share on our feed. As we began to post Alex’s photos, that’s when our popularity took off. It was the first of many collaborations and contests to come.

“My family and I now manage three A-frame cabins, and we continue to host influencers from all over the world. In exchange for sharing their credited content on our feed, we provide them with a place to explore, adventure, and relax. This has become one of our primary marketing techniques. We’ve gone from a 30% occupancy rate to close to 100%, filling up weekdays as well as off-season months. We’ve also built an online following of nearly 115K. Here are our tips on how to put your home on the social media map.”

1. Name your space

“The first step to marketing your home may seem small, but it’s an important one—and that’s to name your space. You want to find a name that’s distinct, memorable, and clever. Then, you can brand your home and register your username on Instagram.

“Here are a few questions to help you brainstorm a name:

  • What kind of home do you have? Is it a chalet, a beachfront property? Is it a Tudor home or a loft?
  • Do you have a theme? Do your interiors follow a particular style? Is it pirate-themed (which exists!)?
  • Is there a connection to your location, city, or town? Can it be incorporated into your name?
  • Is there a historical significance? The perfect name may be waiting to be uncovered from the past.

“Do some research online and find out what other listings are doing, as well as what names are available on social media. For us, we named our first cabin after one of the neighboring rivers, the Tye River. The spelling of the second half, Haus, was inspired by a nearby Bavarian-themed town called Leavenworth. Together, it became Tye Haus”.

2. Start with beautiful photos

“Once you’ve got your name and your social media handles, you’ll want to start out the gate with beautiful pictures. Do not, I repeat, do not, start with a bunch of crummy photos. The images on your feed are the first thing that people will see—and you want them to feel inspired! They’re what’s going to sell your listing. Your photos should be:

  • Consistent: Maintain a uniform look and aspirational aesthetic.
  • High-quality: Post sharp, vivid, high-caliber images and videos—avoid grainy or blurry photos.
  • Accurate: Content should reflect your property well.

“Try to capture what sets your home apart. Is it the interiors, character, or location? Find what really makes your property interesting. Remember that you’re not just advertising your space, you’re also sharing the experience people can have if they visit: your location, the sights, and the activities in the area. If you’re not great at taking photos, considering hiring a professional photographer to start.”

3. Create creative partnerships

“Another way to generate beautiful content for your feed is to collaborate with influencers (e.g. photographers, bloggers, and videographers) and offer discounted stays in exchange for content. We recommend researching and reaching out to local photographers, bloggers, videographers, and content creators in your area.

“This strategy is one of the primary traffic drivers to our page. As influencers share their posts of your space, new users will come across it and discover your home.

“When reaching out to influencers to make an ask, it’s important to:

  • Be professional. Go in prepared and knowledgeable. Ask the right questions that will help move the partnership forward.
  • Be clear. It really could be as simple as: ‘Hey, I love your work. I’m just getting my Airbnb off the ground. Would you be interested in a creative exchange: a stay for credited images or a write-up?’
  • Outline your expectations. Create a mutual agreement for both parties so that it’s clear what each of you is expecting and what you will receive. This should include details such as delivery dates, image rights, tagging, number of images/videos, and file types, etc.
  • Make it a win-win. Approach it as a collaboration and work to make sure that the partnership is beneficial to both parties.

Another related tip is to never have empty inventory. If you have any last minute open dates, take advantage of the downtime and use it for your marketing efforts. Invite a local influencer to stay so that you can use the time to generate additional content for your feed.

4. Build a following

Once you’ve established an online presence and gotten a feed full of great images, it’s time to make yourself known. This can be done a number of different ways:

  • Be a local online ambassador in your area. Find your relevant online circles and be present in them. So for Tye Haus, we like to keep up with the social media of local businesses and surrounding location tags. We follow a nearby ski resort, for example, and we might answer questions other people leave, or comment and say “Hey, next time you’re in town, come stay with us.”
  • Partner with brands to create contests and giveaways. We’ll also run contests and promotions to up our follower count. Think outside the box to find partnerships that fit your “brand”. We’ve partnered with a blanket, a bedding, and a cutlery company to cross-promote our audiences. We’ve reached out to them and said, “Hey, we’re going to get in some influencers to talk about your product, would you be interested in partnering? I can throw in a free stay.” These are also great opportunities to start an email database.

5. Be genuine

As a rule of thumb, people are generally turned off by self-promotion, whether its online or in person—so it’s important to be authentic in all of your interactions. Don’t just comment on every influencer’s post with the same message just to be seen—or start spamming every account you come across. There’s a fine line, and people can sense when you’re coming in with a hard sell. Be genuine in what you’re saying and you’ll attract the right people.

As a personal rule of thumb, I try not to overdo it with the hashtags. We tag a couple of relative feeds in the photo and only include 5-10 hashtags per post. Some people use a whole slew of photo tags and hashtags to get discovered, but I prefer a more subtle, organic approach.

Remember that building a following takes time and certainly doesn’t happen overnight. I encourage you to use these tips, get creative, and you’ll surely find yourself with growing a social media community—and your occupancy rates will thank you.

AirBnB Marketing: 7 Practical Tips To Market Your Airbnb On Instagram

Let’s discuss Airbnb marketing. Are you ready to supercharge your Instagram Airbnb marketing game? Setting achievable and clear goals is the very first step to success on the platform, but it can take some time to know where to start. That’s where our IQ Hashtags team comes in!

Your Airbnb Instagram marketing plan is a critical piece of your online presence. If you want to drive your social media strategy forward, you need an excellent action plan.

If you’re new to marketing your Airbnb, you might ask: How do you even start? How do you create a marketing plan for an Airbnb business? What are the irreplaceable elements? What’s the best way to show off my beautiful spot, including Instagram search engine optimization tactics or all the most effective marketing ideas?

I thought it might be extremely helpful to detail a typical (and working!) marketing planning process for Airbnbs, step by step. Then I thought: Hm, wait, why not create a comprehensive guide for our readers? Welp, that’s exactly what we did!

In this guide, we’ll review some of the best strategies for winning new clients and what to do when all fails to rank your profile higher in ‘Gram search results. Let’s go!

Is marketing your Airbnb on Instagram still effective in 2023?

Yes. Absolutely. People looking for their perfect Airbnbs are still using the platform. Instagram marketing remains a highly effective way to reach your target audience and grow your rental business in 2023, and it’s still going strong.

So how do you decide whether your Airbnb should have a dedicated Instagram profile? And what must you do to make the whole process worth the effort?

I’m not here to lie: Running a successful Instagram account requires time, content planning, and creative resources. Setting up an Airbnb profile isn’t a quick-win or one-size-fits-all marketing strategy. But I really believe every Airbnb can make Instagram marketing beneficial and an effective way of marketing your spot on the market.

Instagram can boost your Airbnb awareness by getting your message in front of many potential guests. This, of course includes reputation management and getting new reviews, too! Are you ready for the nitty-gritty tips? Let’s go!

Airbnb Marketing: Make your photos “Insta worthy”

For an Airbnb place to make it onto someone’s heart on Instagram, there must be something worth admiring, something igniting this famous “wow” factor. Don’t get me wrong – I’m absolutely sure your space has it, but Instagram is all about photos and videos to show the full beauty of your place to your potential followers.

Fill your profile up with esthetically pleasing content – from pics you take, guests at your rental, and photos and videos from collaborations with professional content creators.

Protip: try to inspire user-generated content (UGC). Of course, even if your place is picture-perfect, it’s unlikely that all the clients will want to post on Instagram about their experience. But you can encourage them by offering a 5% discount for their next booking if they share photos of their stay on their Gram. Use this discount as a motivation. The act of asking your amazing clients to post on Instagram doesn’t have to be cringe-worthy, don’t worry!

Don’t forget to mention your Airbnb’s location wherever you can

Instagram users almost always include a location/destination in their search phrases, and you stand a much better chance to appear in their results if your keywords and hashtags match what they type into this search bar. So include your Airbnb’s location as often as you can – so all the people know where your beautiful spot is, and they aren’t surprised afterward.

Your location should be included in the following:

  • Your hashtags
  • Your captions

That’s one of the best practices, and it really MAKES A DIFFERENCE to your Instagram SEO.

Well-targeted hashtags – you definitely can’t skip the research process

If you know how to use hashtags correctly, they’re like a built-in access point to your potential followers and your target audience. The targeted hashtags can increase your Instagram visibility, make it easier for potential clients to discover and follow you, connect your business to more general topics and, discussions and concepts across various posts.

They’re really POWERFUL. Using targeted hashtags can help your Airbnb in various ways:

  • Boost your conversion rates
  • New potential clients and followers
  • Expand your audience
  • Get a much wider outreach
  • Increased brand awareness

Therefore, by employing niche, related hashtags, positioning your business will be much quicker. You can get help from our IQ Hashtags tool, which will make the hashtags heavy lifting for you.

how to use targeted hashtags to market airbnb business on instagram

Use the power of CTAs

The first aspect of CTA we should think of is ensuring it aligns with the business goals. Let me elaborate on that! A call to action ( also known as a CTA ) is a written prompt meant to motivate your target audience to execute a desired action. For example, it might entice your followers to click on a link, leave a social media review, visit your Airbnb listing, and so on. You need to decide which one is most beneficial for you at the moment. Next steps?

  • Add a contact button to your Instagram bio. Typical examples of CTAs for this spot include words: “call”, “text”, “get exact directions”.
  • Add targeted CTAs to your captions. Always make sure the CTA you decide to use aligns with what you’re trying to achieve with that particular piece of content.

Optimize your BIO

Optimizing your Airbnb profile for discoverability is one of the most essential elements of an Airbnb marketing strategy – even though many of us tend to forget about it! Look, if your account isn’t appearing on the top of ‘Gram search results of users who are actively looking to book a nice space, you’re leaving a loooot on the table. When people look for something, this social media platform behaves pretty much like the search engine we all know – Google.

When it comes to picking the content results to display for that very particular search query: It ranks the content according to relevance, and it also prioritizes fresh posts.

Rule number one: if your BIO isn’t optimized to appear on the Instagram search results of users looking for nice Airbnbs in a particular location, you’re missing out on potential booking opportunities.

There are a few critical factors to optimizing your BIO for this much-wanted discoverability:

  • Targeted keywords
  • Placing a link in your BIO
  • Highlighting your Airbnb’s strengths

Analyze your audience

The first step to getting to know your audience and serving them better is by using the data you have to understand them better.

For example, do you know when your Instagram audience is most active?

Instagram might seem like a place to post freely, whenever you want, about whatever is on your mind, but the reality looks a bit different – Airbnb businesses need to take a much more strategic approach.

For every successful Airbnb host on the platform, there is a data-backed content schedule determining the best day and the exact time to post. Even the most awesome posts or Reels won’t do your Airbnb any good if you don’t publish them at the right time.

Posting during high-traffic times ( times when your audience is active or just right before the peak ) maximizes the odds of catching your community’s fragile attention.

Luckily, there’s an easy way to check your most beneficial posting times and boost your exposure/ engagement . Not so long ago, we introduced a new feature that will do the research for you – check out the Followers Activity tab in the Followers Analysis section of our IQ Hashtags tool to figure out the best posting times for your account.

Protip: Monitor when your audience is online the most, and try posting new content just before the peak – it’s the best practice for the highest engagement right now.

Track your growth

Tracking and analyzing your ‘Gram growth is essential for several reasons. First, it allows you to monitor your content visibility, which is crucial for attracting new potential clients for your Airbnb business. By regularly checking your insights, hashtag performance, and other key metrics with the IQ Hashtags tool, you can see how your posts perform and identify new improvement areas.

It definitely can help you optimize your content strategy and structure for better Instagram search performance. By reviewing your Instagram data and identifying your audience’s behaviors and patterns , you can gain insights into what is and isn’t working for your Airbnb profile and make changes to improve your content performance!

To wrap it all up!

Now that you have all the pieces of your ‘Gram plan, you’re ready to take action! Ultimately, I believe there’s no “ one size fits all ” approach to marketing your Airbnb on the ‘Gram, but I really hope this guide has provided at least one small step towards learning how to market your Airbnb on Instagram.
