Pic Paradis (Peak Paradise)

Rising from the center of St. Maarten/St. Martin, Pic Paradis (Peak Paradise) is the island’s highest point as well as its wettest, which ensures the vegetation is lush and green year-round. Climb to the 1,391-foot (424-meter) summit for sweeping views of Orient Bay, Philipsburg, Simpson Bay Lagoon, Marigot, and the neighboring islands.

Travelers can explore Pic Paradis as part of a half-day tour that may include an array of nature-based activities: a snorkeling adventure, a guided nature tour, or a sightseeing tour of the island’s most important manmade and natural landmarks including a saltwater pond where lizards, birds, and iguanas live. Adrenaline seekers will appreciate a trip to Loterie Farm, a former plantation where ziplines soar over the rain forest canopy.

Tours of Pic Paradis may include round-trip hotel transfers, food and drinks, use of snorkeling equipment, towels, and guides. Check tours for specific details.

There is no wheelchair access to Pic Paradis.

The road to Pic Paradis is off the main island ring road near Friar’s Bay Beach on the west coast. Up mountain, the road can only be navigated by four-wheel drive. Alternatively, you can follow the road on foot, taking a different route down, choosing to descend on either the French or Dutch side.

The best times to visit St. Martin/St. Maarten are the shoulder seasons of spring and fall, when cheaper rates are offered and rains less likely. The weather is pleasant year-round, with summer months being the hottest. Humpback whales often can be observed from February to June.

On the mountain ascent, travelers pass Loterie Farm, a private nature reserve set on a former plantation dating back to 1721. Stop for a refreshing drink or meal, a dip in the swimming pool with a view, or, better yet, stay to enjoy the treetop obstacle courses and ziplines.

Air Century Partners with St. Maarten Tourism Bureau and Rising Sun Tours to Promote Destination St. Maarten. | SMN NEWS

The purpose of these meetings and informative presentations is to strengthen the connection between St. Maarten and the Dominican Republic while also highlighting the benefits of these promotional efforts for the advantage of both destinations, considering the many family reunions and business relations that take place between these two islands,” expressed Felipe Gutiérrez, Commercial Director of Air Century.

During this destination marketing promotion, over 40 major travel agencies and tour operators with direct connections to over 500 travel agents were deeply engaged in presentations, sales calls and in-depth discussions to stimulate the awareness, knowledge and dedication towards promoting St. Maarten as a unique destination among their individual, group and business clients.

“St. Maarten is a melting pot with a lot to offer. I’m truly pleased that we succesffully achieved our mission to provide pertinent information about our beloved destination and inspire these agents to actively promote and sell our tourism products,” shared Gina Illidge, who passionately delivered compelling presentations in fluent Spanish, along with professional support by Ms. Louis and Mr. Richardson.

Through this joint team effort, Air Century hosted a half-day seminar, as well as a series of sales visits, over the course of three days, to several agencies. This allowed the St. Maarten delegation, aka “Team St. Maarten,” to share insightful details regarding the distinct features of St. Maarten, as Air Century highlighted their connecting routes and promotions. Presentations were framed around the common historical and cultural ties – which incited the interests of the agents, the close geographic proximity, as well as, the direct connections and specials being offered by Air Century. Also highlighted, were the distinct features that set St. Maarten apart from other destinations, including the diverse multi-cultural society, culinary prowess, extensive rage of cultural activities, entertainment, upcoming events, quality service-oriented hospitality, investments, trade, and opportunities for regional cross-cultural exchanges, with St. Maarten serving as a hub within the Caribbean.

“With consideration of the geographic proximity, history, culture, family, friends and business relations, the ties that connect St. Maarten to the Dominican Republic are endless. Building upon these countless connections, our aim is to leverage the D.R.’s growing prominence and forge mutually-beneficial partnerships to target distinctive groups, particularly those with disposable income for inbound and luxury travel,” shared Jacqueline Louis.

Working energetically together, “Team St. Maarten” were very well-received with enthusiasm from the Travel Agents; who are looking forward to ongoing collaborations, cross-promotions, marketing tools with unique selling points and creative content to share destination St. Maarten as an additional product throughout their large networks of agents and clients.

Additionally, all partners are working together on ongoing awareness campaigns and package deals to further promote and sell the extensive range of unique products and services offered by St. Maarten.

“We recognize the potential of the Dominican market. Many travelers are not aware of all that St. Maarten has to offer. Therefore, it was of pivotal importance to sit in front of the vendors to share about St. Maarten and the full services offered by Rising Sun Tours,” shared Sjaoel Richardson.

Lush tropical landscaping harmonizes with natural foliage to create an impressive entry and an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for the outdoor dining terrace.

Guests will enjoy the 45-foot infinity edge pool that blends with the brilliant blues of Orient Bay. Villa Sunrise features an open format and offers sophisticated contemporary decor to please the most discriminating guest. Inspired use of natural materials like stone, wood and tile brings an intriguing depth of detail. The living room features white sofas, a neutral color palette and a wall of windows open to the amazing water views.  Each air-conditioned bedroom features a spectacular ensuite spa bathroom and provides direct access to the terrace and the pool. The fully-equipped stainless steel and wood kitchen has a convenient bar for a quick meal or for use as a bar or buffet.

After a day of snorkeling at nearby Dawn Beach or lounging on Orient Beach in the St. Martin sunshine, enjoy a relaxing drink on the terrace and while savoring panoramic ocean views of Pinel Island, Tintamarre and St. Barts in the distance. Villa Sunrise is brilliantly lit at night to provide a dramatic nocturnal environment that is sure to delight guests.

The gourmet restaurants of Grand Case are a just a short drive from Villa Sunrise, and beach bars, restaurants and water sports are 5 minutes away. Guests will find attractive rates at Villa Sunrise this season.

Due to the hillside location and steep approach, a 4 x 4 vehicle is recommended for possible wet road conditions.

Better than the pictures. Amazing. The Sunrise villa was a perfect spot for our honeymoon. It was absolutely outstanding in every way. We can't imagine finding a better one but we will use Isle Blue to try. Our experience was perfection.

We love Sunrise! Such a beautiful view! Leaving @ night there are some lights out on the steps to the car, and kinda treacherous without the lighting. It would be nice if there was a washer/dryer in the Villa itself instead of having to go outside and downstairs. The iguanas seemed to be less and we were most appreciative. We just finished a one week stay at Sunrise Villa on August 27. We have traveled extensively and I can honestly say this is the best vacation (holiday) we have ever had. The Villa was absolutely outstanding in every aspect. From the finishes to the furnishings and decor, I could not find anything I can think of that could be improved. The location is extremely convenient and the view is breathtaking. Even though you have a wonderful view from the Villa it is still very private and you dont have to worry about the neighbors looking at you in the pool or on the patio. Most of all the service was fantastic! The concierge Ines Durand through Island Blue, consulted with us upon arrival as she showed us the Villa and determined what our preferences were for dining each evening and then called or texted each day to make reservations for us. Never a wait for dinner and always had the best seat in the restaurant. We will be coming back next year to the same Villa!

Everything about Sunrise was absolutely wonderful! Pablo, our Concierge, made it a perfect vacation from finding lost luggage to securing hard-to-get reservations and drivers so that we could enjoy ourselves. We can't wait to go back to this slice of heaven! Communication from the beginning was excellent. Our Concierge in St. Martin, Pablo, made everything perfect. And we learned that he is an Intern! There was a bit of a lag with the info getting to Pablo regarding the second flight (our boys and their wives) coming in which was actually on the 30th. (My husband and I arrived on the 29th and stayed one night in a hotel.) But it really wasn't a big deal at all; I just hated for Pablo to have to go to more trouble when we had booked a car for them. We will definitely use St. Martin Blue again!!!

Excellent service and hospitality!! Highly Recommend! Villa Sunrise was amazing!! The villa itself was something straight out of a magazine, beautifully decorated and comfortable accommodations. The only want for this villa would be to have the pool heated. The views from the house are stunning. The drive up to the driveway is a little scary but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier.

During this destination marketing promotion, over 40 major travel agencies and tour operators with direct connections to over 500 travel agents were deeply engaged in presentations, sales calls and in-depth discussions to stimulate the awareness, knowledge and dedication towards promoting St. Maarten as a unique destination among their individual, group and business clients.

I'm truly pleased that we succesffully achieved our mission to provide pertinent information about our beloved destination and inspire these agents to actively promote and sell our tourism products," shared Gina Illidge, who passionately delivered compelling presentations in fluent Spanish, along with professional support by Ms. Louis and Mr. Richardson.

Through this joint team effort, Air Century hosted a half-day seminar, as well as a series of sales visits, over the course of three days, to several agencies. This allowed the St. Maarten delegation, aka "Team St. Maarten," to share insightful details regarding the distinct features of St. Maarten, as Air Century highlighted their connecting routes and promotions. Presentations were framed around the common historical and cultural ties - which incited the interests of the agents, the close geographic proximity, as well as, the direct connections and specials being offered by Air Century. Also highlighted, were the distinct features that set St. Maarten apart from other destinations, including the diverse multi-cultural society, culinary prowess, extensive rage of cultural activities, entertainment, upcoming events, quality service-oriented hospitality, investments, trade, and opportunities for regional cross-cultural exchanges, with St. Maarten serving as a hub within the Caribbean.
