CHVRCHES are an electronic pop group from Glasgow, Scotland, who formed in 2011 and released their debut full-length, “The Bones of What You Believe”, in September 2013.

As has increasingly become the case for electronic acts in the past few years, CHVRCHES actually managed to generate some serious buzz about their music despite never having played a live show; in fact, such was the intensity of the attention that was on them from the beginning that they felt compelled to play their first ever gigs under an alternative name - Shark Week - as they were still in the process of figuring out how to translate their specific brand of synthpop to the stage and were eager not to have some uneven early performances come to define them, especially in front of crowds that would likely be packed out with music bloggers and A&R record label employees. Not that they should have worried, though, because they’ve certainly not wanted for the opportunity to practice since; vocalist Lauren Mayberry and synth operators Iain Cook and Martin Doherty have been on the road pretty much relentlessly since early singles “Recover” and “The Mother We Share” were met with a rapturous reception in early 2013.

All three members have some degree of musical experience - Mayberry as a member of Blue Sky Thinking, Doherty as a live performer with The Twilight Sad and Cook as part of Aerogramme and The Unwinding Hours - but it all seems to have come together pretty spectacularly for them as CHVRCHES (the v was intended to make their name easier to find through search engines.) They’re looking ahead, now, to writing album number two once they wrap up their final commitments for “The Bones of What You Believe” - something they can do with their reputation as one of Britain’s most exciting young bands ensured.

Live reviews

I consider myself a Chvrches fan, so was very excited about this gig in advance. The concert was at The Bournemouth O2 Academy. The queues stretched for what seemed like miles, but they got us in quickly. A mix of age groups in attendance, but mostly younger people. Good to know synth-pop can still have a young following.

Firstly the support act, Let's Eat Grandma. I hadn't heard of them prior to the gig and from the name I thought they might be thrash metal, however I was very pleasantly surprised when three girls came onto the stage playing (dark) synth-pop. One on drums, and the other two played synths and sang. Also we were treated to glockenspiel, saxophone and recorder amongst others. After the gig I downloaded their album which is now playing in my car.

They played for about 45 minutes. The highlights for me were Whitewater, Hot Pink and Falling Into Me. Unfortunately I missed an opportunity to meet the band as I had a great place near the front and didn't want to lose the top spot watching Lauren Mayberry!

Now Chvrches entered the stage after a break. Lauren's high pitched squeak, endeared me to her even more as she introduced songs and pleased us with general chit chat.

They opened with Get Out, recent big chart hit, and infectious anthem. Straight into Bury It, which I am now used to with the Hayley Williams (Paramore) vocal, so I noticed when it was lacking. It didn't detract from the enjoyment one bit though.

Gun came next, a classic, then (in my opinion) their best song We Sink from the first album The Bones of What You Believe. So euphoric, that it has perked me up on many a bad day.

Another recent hit Graffiti came next, then Graves, a gem from the new album Love Is Dead, this could have been a single. After that I had hoped to hear Heaven/Hell, but unfortunately it was absent from the set list. Shame. They can't do them all I suppose!

Martin Doherty was up on main vocals for the next two songs. God's Plan and Under The Tide. I've always really liked his songs. Martin displayed a lot of energy and on his own was great, but get back behind that keyboard boy now, here she comes again.

Lauren came back with Miracle and then Science/Visions. As we reached the end, hand went up like we were all at a rave, in fitting with the edgy feel of this track.

Really Gone, Deliverance, Forever and Recover came next. Lauren announced the last two songs, Leave a Trace and Clearest Blue. It was so great to hear Clearest Blue live, so infectious and a defining song for everything Chvrches, a fun electro-stomper which namecheck the second album (Every Open Eye).

Of course there was an encore. Obviously they performed The Mother We Share, this was followed by the final song New Say Die. A great ending to a fantastic gig.

In general the sound was great, but occasionally the vocal dipped below and it was harder to hear Lauren. It was loud, but then I was right at the front.

The songs were pretty much in versions close to their released format, though the encore version of The Mother We Share started with some atmospheric pads before the "Oh ah oh oh ah ah" we all know and love.

I had hoped for a cover version, but actually their own songs are so great, it would have meant missing one out, so better that they didn't. I will be at the next UK tour 1000%! 9/10

For a 3-piece from Glasgow, CHVRCHES pack an incredible punch live and they have a warmth that many other bands can only dream of. Lauren Mayberry is, on the face of it, a very unassuming front woman but, as their live show kicks in, you’re transfixed. She has an air of cool and ease about everything she does and her inbetween-songs banter is funny and lighthearted; the kind of conversation you have with your closest friends.

Irrespective of the venue size (I’ve seen them in art schools in the Netherlands through to theatres in London and at outdoor festivals too), they always make a show seem intimate and their songs take you on a journey. From the punchiness of tracks like Lies and We Sink, through to the subtlety of Tether, they hit all the markers for a great live act.

When Martin Doherty steps out from Keyboard duties to perform Under The Tide that you see a dancier side to their show – and the crowd reacts as if they’ve been transported to the best rave of their life! Their simple lighting rig (with an LED recreation of the cover to their album, The Bones of What You Believe, as a backdrop) helps to accentuate the stripped-back set-up and allows their songs to really take centre stage.

Whatever you do though, don't go with expectations of them to play a lot of the cover versions that they've performed on radio shows. It's 100% about CHVRCHES. And rightfully so. I can never bore of watching them live – and that comes from someone who has seen them 13 times (so far)!

It was after midnight at a post ACL show in Austin where CHVRCHES lit up a room full of half asleep concert goers and put on an amazing show. Seeing as most people in the venue had either attended Austin City Limits that day or were exhausted from a long week of work, it didn't seem like it would be the most lively crowd. However, when the light show started and the music began, the whole room was alive. CHVRCHES woke us up like we had all injected a few cups of coffee straight into our bloodstreams.

The overall presentation of the show was top notch. The CHVRCHES logo design lit up in the back of the stage to open up the show and changed colors to match the mood of the music. Flashing lights matched the beat of the music and painted the crowd with neon colors. The whole band was energetic and put on a great show. You could tell they love what they do and love the music they make.

In terms of the music, it sounded almost indistinguishable from their recorded album, if not better. CHVRCHES played to perfection and Lauren's voice was spot on throughout the whole show. The energy they brought through the music and their stage presence projected onto the crowd and got everybody moving. They also had some banter between themselves and the crowd to really add a personal touch to the show. This one show proved to me that CHVRCHES know how to put on a great show and make memories. If any CHVRCHES shows pop up around me I'll be sure to do everything I can to attend, and I suggest you do as well.

Come for the music, stay for the Scottish charm.

This was my third time seeing CHVRCHES and it's been great to see them mature and become more and more comfortable in their own skin. The songs are amazing and translate perfectly live. Watching Iain stroke a guitar or drum up a beat while Martin does his hypnotizing beeps and blorps would be enough for even the most casual concert-goer. Add spritely Lauren to the mix and you have a very engaging, entertaining show.

Lauren's off-the-cuff commentary and sense of humor make the shows more relaxed and approachable. We in the Midwest don't get many Scottish acts, so when we hear that charming accent it's hard not to smile and want to run up and give her a big hug.

The show itself is amazing start to finish. The light show has gotten better and better and compliments the music perfectly. Sharing singing duties between Lauren and Martin helps please all members of the audience while giving a nicely shifting dynamic to the show. Now, this being my third time seeing them in a little over a year may speak for itself. Their EP and album are amazing and their live show doesn't disappoint; it's a great compliment to this super talented, up-and-coming Scottish act.

Chvrches has been my favorite band ever since they first started. I have wanted to see them live for years but never could because I couldn't afford it or we just didn't have time. What I know of, they don't come to America often, because they live in Scotland. Well once I figured out they were coming, I traded my piggy bank money for these tickets. Let me tell you, that must've been one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Everyone in the audience was nice and cheerful and they didn't mind if you went all the way to the front. Well, as always, I cut to the front so I could be closer to my idols. I got some axmazing photos. Lauren is always super nice and funny, and her voice was OUTSTANDING. A lot of artist don't sound good live but Lauren Mayberry has an outstanding voice, ever since Boyfriend/Girlfriend and Blue Sky Archives. Ian and Martin did an amazing job with the sound, they didn't mess up once! I went to a concert one time and the band kept messing up with the guitars and drums. The lights and fog made the show look incredible! Lauren, Ian, and Martin DEFINATTLY know how to put on a good show. 100/100 for them! It's definitely a show I will NEVER forget!

Let me say first and foremost, Chvrches is the best. Best on record, best on stage. Their sound and stage presence is unequalled.

That said, how on earth do you match up Chvrches tour de force energy and massive sound and lights, with the cavernous compacted Wiltern? It was not a good match. I've seen Chvrches many times live, and they are built to play unrestricted venues. No stage or arena is too large for them. The result was the sound reverberated in all directions, too loud, too contained, with an overtly dizzying affect from the light show spectacular, but not the good kind of dizzy.

Chrvches = Wiltern.... not a good match.

Again, Chvrches is the best live show I've seen at different venues. They are truely standup for playing a benefit show for great causes. Cannot wait to see them live in 2020. My dream would be to see them play an acoustic show at a small club. But please, think about matching the sound to the surroundings.

Not my first CHVRCHES show, but the best! The entire band was in really fantastic form, and Lauren's voice was both powerful and flawless-- and her constant being sure to cover the entire stage ensures that even the people on the very edge of the crowd feel like they're in the front row. As ever, they brought a ton of energy and enthusiasm to the stage, as well as fun. Lauren, who often fills the little breaks between songs with non sequiturs, drew attention to a group of people dressed in rather strange animal costumes, and Iain suggested that they should include them in the show somehow. Martin jumped on the idea, and Lauren told them to make their way to the side of the stage. Several songs later the creatures came out dancing, at which point Lauren struggled to sing at all through laughter. She apologized to the crowd afterwards, "I just see you dancing over here and I wonder, is this how I die?" I really fantastic, fun show!

Amazing concert!! The music was pretty much perfect, not a single mistake by any of the band members! It sounded just like the studio version, except it was a concert of course, making the experience soo much better.

The band was so energetic the entire concert through and emphasized the atmosphere of every song perfectly, especially Lauren.

There was also an amazing lightshow where there were panels in the background which showed some of the album art as well as some well made animations related to the songs that were playing.

In addition, Laurens talks between the songs really made for some funny moments.

Would definitely recommend seeing them live, it's an awesome experience!

max_im_burghaus’s profile image

The best concert of my life. Lauren, Martin and Iain hold nothing back and were at least as excited as the sold out venue. This is one of the best bands to see live, because even if they don't have the frenzy factor that a live drummer always brings along, they are some of the most committed, professional and down to earth bands. Lauren is the perfect frontperson, perfect voice, silly and fun interaction with the crowd and ALWAYS moving up & down the stage. But oh man, when Martin sings, it's time to get fucking TURNT, SON! Martin's Under The Tide is one of the natural phenomenoms everyone has to see once in their lifetime.

10/10 would die for them

Saw them in April 2016 at Brooklyn Bowl in Vegas and enjoyed the show a great deal. The band are tight and musically adept live - Lauren Mayberry's voice is particularly strong - and their set nicely mixed new and old material. But what stood out is their charming and deeply engaging stage presence. You can see why their touring and festival appearances continue to win them fans. Mayberry turns out to be a sharp, confident, and wonderfully self-deprecating storyteller between tunes. A fun evening of well-crafted electronic pop tunes, delivered by a band you sense it would be rewarding to have a beer, chat and laugh with after the gig. Recommended.

Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry Announces Solo Music, Tour During Band Hiatus

By Tomás Mier

Lauren Mayberry is stepping away from Chvrches to make music on her own for the first time. On Thursday, the musician reflected on the 10th anniversary of the group’s debut LP, The Bones of What You Believe , as she announced plans to tour as a solo artist — but assured that Chvrches isn’t done forever.

“I met Iain [Cook] and Martin [Doherty] when I was 23 — a little baby of a person, in hindsight. Looking back on what we’ve achieved together, so much of it doesn’t feel real or even possible,” the Scottish star wrote on Instagram. “I am so proud of all the chapters our band has been able to have and I am so grateful to my bandmates for taking me on that journey with them.”

“We are all confident that the Chvrches story has many more pages yet to be written,” she continued.

“For a long time, I couldn’t imagine ever doing anything outside of Chvrches. Since I was 15 years old, I have always, only, ever been in a band,” she wrote. “I always wanted so badly to belong somewhere — to be one of the boys, and to fit in.”

“But as I sail/stumble through this era of my life (your 20s really do go by in a flash, kids), it has started to feel like there are things I want to write and say and do that need to be done on my own,” she continued.

Tickets for her solo tour will go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on Friday for her shows in the U.S. and on Monday in Europe. “I guess here we fucking go?!” she ended her post.

Chvrches Returns With Huge Single ‘Over,’ Island Records Deal & ‘A New Lease on Life’

The new track, created with "Blinding Lights" co-producer Oscar Holter, was an "incredibly freeing" moment for the trio, says the band's Martin Doherty.

CHVRCHES

Chvrches has never been prone to releasing one-off singles that aren’t tethered to either a larger project or is a collaboration with another artist. Yet the long-running Scottish trio is kicking off their 2023 with “Over,” a behemoth of a synth-pop track due out on Friday (Feb. 24) that represents a new chapter for Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty — who celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut album this year, and are using the new single to launch their recent major-label deal.

Trending on Billboard

The demo floated in the ether for a few years: the band knew “Over” could be a big song for them, but it didn’t fit on a project like 2021’s Screen Violence , which the trio wanted to write and produce completely on their own. At the end of 2022, the band reconnected with Holter, who wanted to revisit “Over” and help flesh it out into a proper Chvrches song.

The trio and Holter punched up the track and “got it to a point where everyone was happy with it,” explains Doherty, “and where it felt like somewhere that Chvrches could be going, potentially — that isn’t to say that’s where we’re going, but something that felt 2023, and not like something that’s been kicking around for a few years.”

“There’s something incredibly freeing and no-strings about thinking outside of a long-form narrative, for the first time in 10 years,” says Doherty. “It’s quite liberating, and quite fun.”

After rising to fame and releasing their first four studio albums with Glassnote Records, Chvrches signed a new deal with Island Records in North American and EMI in the U.K. last year. Mayberry says that the label jump was the product of an amicable split at a time when the prospect of a new direction was appealing. “We’ve always been really lucky to have great partners with what we were doing,” she says. “Making some of the changes was quite emotional … But we’re really excited by what Island and EMI were bringing to the table.

“I don’t know if we’ve necessarily benefited from the kind of old-school approach — getting songs on the radio, et cetera,” Mayberry continues. “I don’t think that blueprint works for us. And a lot of that is based on — alternative radio in America is all f—king men! It’s all men! And there was a time, at the beginning of the band especially, where there was a narrative of, ‘Oh, we’ve just playlisted [another] band with a female vocalist,’ even if they sounded completely different than us. So it was really exciting to talk to people who viewed it more holistically, like, ‘Where are Chvrches fans, and how can we get things to them?’”

“Whatever we make next, we have to take the time on it,” she says. “It has to move the conversation forward in some way.”

“It’s an incredibly rare and privileged position after such a long period of time,” adds Cook, nodding to the decade-long run of the band since their 2013 debut, The Bones of What You Believe . “We don’t really have any kind of ceiling on things, or know this is how long this is gonna go on for. We’re just taking things as they come in, and as long as we’re enjoying it, we’ll keep doing it.”

Watch Pulp debut new song ‘Spike Island’ as they kick off US tour

The swirling track seems to make a nod towards the iconic Stone Roses gig

Jarvis Cocker of Pulp performs in concert during Primavera Sound Festival on May 30, 2024

Pulp have kicked off their US tour by debuting a new song called ‘Spike Island’. Find footage of the moment below.

  • READ MORE: Jarvis Cocker teases more Pulp shows and discusses new project ‘Biophobia’: “I used to be scared of nature”

The iconic Sheffield band launched their US tour on Sunday night (September 8) with a show at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. It followed on from their extensive run of performances across Europe this summer, and marked their first North American tour in 12 years .

While the vast majority of the set in Chicago mirrored that of their European shows, Jarvis Cocker and co. did have a surprise planned for the crowd – breaking out a currently-unreleased new song called ‘Spike Island’.

“No pressure. What can I tell you about it? What shall I say about it?” the frontman questioned as he prepared to play the track. “You’ll just have to make up your own mind about it. It’s called ‘Spike Island’ and it sounds very much like this….”

From there, the band launched into a swirling, midtempo groove, as Cocker delivered a powerful vocal performance. “ Dead in my tracks/ I was heading for disaster, then I turned back, ” he sang in the first verse. “ The universe shrugged, shrugged and moved on ”.

From there, the song launched into an epic, Bowie -inspired chorus, which saw the frontman jump on top of the speakers at the front of the stage and sing “ This time I’ll get it right ”. Check out the song below.

It seems that the track may be a nod to the historic Spike Island gig that fellow Britpop icons, The Stone Roses, played in Cheshire in May 1990 . The show saw The Stone Roses perform to 28,000 fans at the site of a disused chemical plant, and became recognised as one of their most memorable concerts.

It was set to be professionally filmed (as per BBC ), but was never officially recorded due to a last-minute dispute over fees. Earlier this year, the outlet reported that a full-length recording of the gig had come to light for the first time.

Pulp have made reference to the Spike Island show in the past – namely in their song ‘Sorted For E’s & Wizz’ , which was shared as part of their 1995 album ‘Different Class’.

The title for the song was inspired after Cocker met a girl and they began discussing her time seeing The Stone Roses at the Spike Island show. Recalling the name, Cocker said: “‘Sorted For E’s And Wizz’ is a phrase a girl that I met in Sheffield once told me… and she went to see The Stone Roses at Spike Island and I said, ‘What do you remember about it?’. And she said, ‘Well there were all these blokes walking around saying, ‘Is everybody sorted for E’s and wizz?’’ And that’s all she remembered about it and I thought it was a good phrase.”

Elsewhere at their Chicago gig over the weekend, Pulp broke out fan favourites like ‘Disco 2000’, ‘Babies’, ‘Common People’ and more. They also continued to dedicate their rendition of ‘Something Changed’ to Steve Mackey and Steve Albini – something they had been doing throughout the European dates.

Intrigue about new material from Pulp has been swirling in recent months. For instance, the frontman was recently spotted in Walthamstow by a fan, and reportedly told them that the band were heading “back in the studio” .

Pulp perform om stage at the Oyafestivalen on August 07, 2024

That took place just days after Pulp performed at Flow Festival 2024 and used their set to debut a new song titled ‘A Sunset’, which was co-written by Richard Hawley .

Before then, the vocalist spoke to NME and suggested the song could be officially released at some point, as well as confirmed Pulp’s touring plans for 2025.

Hopes for new material stem back into 2023 as well, when the members debuted a track called ‘Background Noise’ at a show in Mexico last November. It came after they performed an unreleased track titled ‘Hymn Of The North’ in Sheffield.

Speaking to NME last October , however, Pulp drummer Nick Banks put a dampener on hopes of new material, downplaying the rumours by saying that their reunion gigs were “more about getting the party back”.

Pulp’s last full-length release was 2001’s ‘ We Love Life ‘. In a three-star review of the LP , NME described the record as “a grandiose, symphonic affair buoyed by succinct orchestration and white-light choral interludes”. It added: “At times, the music really sparkles as it soars above Cocker’s bleakly-intoned spoken-word meditations.”

The band then released a one-off track back in 2013 titled ‘After You’. The single was originally demoed during the early recording sessions of ‘We Love Life’ and was left unfinished until 2012 when the band returned to it and finished it during their comeback tour.

Their ongoing run of ‘This Is What We Do For An Encore’ tour dates will continue throughout this month, and the stint includes shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and more. Following the initial announcement, the band went on to announce further dates due to high demand . Visit here for any remaining tickets.

In other Pulp news, the band recently shared details of their first show for 2025, taking place at a huge new festival in Japan .

Kathy Griffin hopes 'you will be laughing' at her suicide attempt story on new tour: 'It's so over-the-top'

Griffin tells EW her "My Life on the PTSD-List" tour turns pain into comedy — plus, she reflects on being "thrown away like a piece of trash" by industry pals.

chvrches us tour 2023

Kathy Griffin has been through hell — enough so that she jokes (at least, we hope) she's willing to employ... uh... alternative methods to jump-start her own industry vitality and put butts in seats for My Life on the PTSD-List , her first stand-up comedy tour in six years.

"You don’t want to know what I would do to sell tickets," the 63-year-old tells Entertainment Weekly . "I don’t want to use the term 'f--- a donkey,' but, whatever it takes. My hustle game has never been stronger."

It's a remarkable sign of resilience for the comedy staple, who, decades into her industry reign as an Emmy-winning reality star and record-holding performer with the most number of televised stand-up specials in history, had to reroute her career in 2017, after losing countless gigs (and celebrity friendships) following a federal investigation into that infamous photo of herself holding a bloodied mask styled to look like then-President Donald Trump . Now, just like she taught herself to cope after a resulting suicide attempt, a 72-hour psychiatric hold, pill addiction, divorce , the deaths of her mother and sister , lung cancer that led to a partial organ removal , post-traumatic stress disorder, and more on the other side of the the fiery gates of the netherworld, she's ready to make you laugh about it all.

"Are you f---ing flaunting your two lungs in my face right now? You two-lunged people are so cocky," Griffin quips at the top of our phone call, signaling a renewed sense of humor and an ability to find levity amid her misfortunes — of which there have been many.

Rick Kern/Getty

It should be noted that, unlike in videos she shared throughout her cancer journey, Griffin speaks at a bold volume (which sometimes approaches a state of blissful booming) during our chat. Gone is the soft squeakiness in her voice fans got used to during her cancer treatments, which left her with a "permanently dead" vocal cord. In its place is a new tone that she says a medical team assembled by her friend, the pop star Sia , helped her achieve, and it's a sound that serves as a metaphor for Griffin herself. Her voice signals familiarity for fans, albeit one that's been altered with just enough cracks to remind those listening of the path that led her here in the first place.

Just like she did on her beloved docuseries My Life on the D-List , Griffin will address it all on the PTSD-List tour . She promises the show includes "lots of good celebrity stuff" that her followers expect, after she built a career on telling jokes about being banned from The View for telling a risqué, behind-the-scenes story about Barbara Walters and Astroglide, or that time Céline Dion barked for her like a dog while backstage at a Vegas show when Griffin nervously petted her hair — or that controversial 2005 joke she made at the Golden Globes about child actress Dakota Fanning going to rehab. This time, though, Griffin might've "walked into my own act" after revealing how she copes with PTSD (including 12-hour panic attacks and "non-stop vomiting and dry-heaving").

"I’m going to make it funny. I make fun of my remedies. I have a whole team of people trying to put Humpty-Dumpty back together again," Griffin reveals, adding that she now regularly practices Kundalini yoga, breathwork, and daily affirmations she still chuckles at. "I’ll go look in a mirror and say s--- like, 'You’re going to be okay today, Kathy. It’s me, Kathy, talking to you, Kathy. You’re going to be okay.' If anybody ever walked in, they’d have me committed on another 5150 psych hold. I have to admit, after me making fun of celebrities being on 5150 psych holds, I’m a little bit excited that I’m now in the company of Britney and Kanye ."

She stresses that she'll "bring it back to a nice, light, fluffy" place, too. For example, "the method in which I tried to take my life" she teases.

"Because it’s so over-the-top that I can now laugh about it. I give the audience a big tee-up, like, 'Don’t worry guys, I’m not going to just lay it on you, we’re going to work up to it, but I’m going to tell you how I tried to take my life.' I’m not making fun of it, but you will be laughing," says Griffin.

Surprisingly, one thing she won't touch on the road (unless, she says, he makes major headlines the same day), is Trump.

"He’s actually not mentioned in this show," Griffin explains of the material she used on the first 40 dates of the tour earlier this year. Griffin points out (while also urging people to view her 2019 documentary Kathy Griffin: A Hell of a Story if they want her statement on Trump-related affairs), she and fellow left-leaning people are usually not the ones digging up her past.

"Nobody posts my Trump photo more than Trumpers," she observes. "It’s Marjorie Taylor Greene , it’s Lauren Boebert , It’s Laura Ingraham , Kellyanne Conway , it’s all those psychos [talking about me]."

She fears that, after a Department of Justice probe into the infamous photo landed her on the no-fly list, an Interpol criminal list, and, she says, terrorist watchlists, she's terrified of what a potential second-term Trump presidency might look like for comedians — particularly women, as she doesn't think it's a coincidence that the only comedian ever investigated to that extent by the United States government happens to be female.

"He’s going to pick us off one by one, like bowling pins, and I’m not kidding and I’m not being paranoid. I’m a D-lister, he’s not going to get to me on day one, but he’ll get to me, trust me. He’s got a list. I’ve known this guy for 25 years. He’s so petty that he lives for this. "If he gets re-elected, he’ll go after Jimmy Kimmel , he’ll go after Jon Stewart , all the name ones. He’ll go after Rosie O’Donnell . That’s all he’s going to do all day. He’ll have press conferences about it. He’s so much crazier than he was the first go-round."

Amy Sussman/Getty

For now, Griffin looks forward to hitting the road again throughout September, October, and beyond, including an Oct. 26 headlining slot at Carnegie Hall, and a New Year's Eve show in Chicago — her first holiday gig since being fired (and replaced by her ex-Bravo boss, Andy Cohen ) from CNN's annual New Year's Eve broadcast with her former friend, Anderson Cooper , amid fallout from the Trump photo.

On that note, when asked about a potential continuation of My Life on the D-List , why the original iteration of the show ended, and why she hasn't done a Bravo stand-up special since 2013 (years before her fallout with Cohen), Griffin gets uncharacteristically defensive.

"Why doesn’t anyone ask Andy Cohen these questions? Why am I always having to put my feet to the fire? I’m always asked about Anderson and Andy. That was done to me. I don’t have an answer," she stresses, likening it to being "thrown away like a piece of trash" on the street. "Nobody goes up to Anderson and goes, 'How could you have done that to Kathy?' Nobody goes up to Andy and goes, 'Andy, how could you do that to one of the stars of your network?' Nobody asks them, ever."

She maintains that she's received "no apologies" from anyone who "abandoned" her during the Trump scandal, particularly Cohen, with whom she worked at Bravo, the network that launched 18 of her stand-up specials and My Life on the D-List , which recently returned to streaming on Peacock. "All I can do is be honest and say it hurts. It hurts that I’m not doing specials there. It hurts that they never let me do a spinoff with my mom and dad in the early years of the D-List . It hurts that they don’t want to do a D-List 2.0, " she admits. "It all hurts, but I’m so thrilled to be back on tour and to be playing Carnegie Hall and the Wiltern, P-Town with the bears, twinks, and the lesbians with their strollers. You're talking to the half most-bitter, half happiest comedian you’ve ever met in your goddamn life." (EW has reached out to representatives for Cohen and Cooper for comment.)

The work gives her renewed energy, but she's under no delusions that she occupies a unique, unfamiliar position, as she feels it took people seven long years to accept that it "was kind of f---ed up, what happened to Kathy" — and, for the first time in her career, they might actually be applauding her as an individual, versus simply the material she performs on stage.

"I want to think my comedy is good enough for people to stand, but I’m not going to lie, they’re standing because they also f---ing know what happened to me in the Department of Justice, they don’t like what happened to me for New Year’s. They know I have one-and-a-half f---ing lungs, they know I was on the goddamn no-fly list, they know that Trump targeted me. I’m not complaining, I’ll take a standing ovation wherever I can get one," she says, later adding: "I still can’t believe I have a manager. I have an agent, I just played 40 cities, I get to tour more. And, after that? Baby, I’m back on the bread line."

That's perhaps where Griffin has thrived the most. She did, after all, knock down her status by labeling herself a D-lister for the reality series that invigorated her career and gave her a platform to enter the next phase of her life. In that journey, it's clear: Griffin has always found a path to salvation — even in the darkest of dark pits.

Tickets for Griffin's My Life on the PTSD-List tour are available for purchase now.

Jack Draper interview

Jack Draper's superb run to the US Open semi-finals has been rewarded with his first-ever entry into the world's top 20.

Draper lost to eventual champion Jannik Sinner in straight sets in the last four at Flushing Meadows, which marked the first time a British man has progressed to that stage of the US Open since Andy Murray won the title in 2012.

The 22-year-old solidified his position as British No 1 following an incredible run in New York and has cracked the top 20 of the ATP men's singles world rankings for the first time in his career.

Draper's run included a hugely impressive straight sets victory over 10th seed Alex de Minaur, and he has risen five places in the latest rankings, now sitting 20th.

The Brit though, is far from content with that, and wants to push up the rankings even further.

"I've still got a lot to work on. I've still got a lot to improve. At the end of the day, I need to keep on improving my physicality, my mentality, the way I play," he told Sky Sports.

"But there's no reason why I don't belong at the top of the game with these guys. I proved that to myself on a few occasions this year. My goal now is to try and do it more consistently and put myself in front of these guys on a regular basis at the back end of tournaments.

Sinner, by virtue of his victory, solidifies his grip on top spot with victory in the final Grand Slam of the year, and is only the sixth player in history to earn more than 11,000 ranking points.

Runner-up Taylor Fritz moved up five places to No. 7 in the rankings, whilst US compatriot Frances Tiafoe – whom he defeated in the other semi-final – was also a big climber, moving four places higher in the rankings to 16th.

Sinner: Draper has made his breakthrough

World No. 1 Sinner was full of praise for the Brit, after beating him in the semi-final – with Draper vomiting on court multiple times during a physically exerting encounter.

Sinner believes the Sutton-born star will be a difficult opponent for years to come.

"He's made his breakthrough this week a little bit, playing some amazing tennis, serving very well. Physically he has improved a lot," Sinner said.

"So he's going to be very tough to beat in the future, for sure. I'm happy for him."
