Dry Docking is an exciting new feature which allows you to store your hard-earned ships for the long term with the convenience of a few clicks, opening up Ship Slots for new arrivals and some old favorites. A Dry Docked ship won’t be available to switch to while it’s in storage, but it’s only a short trip to the nearest ship selector to bring it out of Dry Docking and ready it for action again. As Dry Docking a ship may mean storing it for an extended stay, you’ll have to re-customize any ships that you store. Since players cannot access a Dry Docked ship’s equipment, everything currently equipped on a ship will be moved into your inventory when the ship enters Dry Dock. The ship’s costumes will be reset and its equipment will be sent to your bags, but it will retain the name you’ve chosen as well as any mastery points you’ve earned while piloting it. You can access the Dry Docking feature by visiting any ship selector, such as the one in Earth Spacedock, and selecting the new Dry Dock button. While you’re there, you’ll also notice a new tab at the top of the selector which allows you to view any Dry Docked ships and re-activate them. All players will have access to a handful of Dry Docking slots upon the feature’s release, and Gold Subscribers will automatically be granted access to many more. All players will also have the option to purchase additional Dry Dock slots as needed. Very interesting. I guess this beats dumping a ship and then reclaiming it via the ship selector.

Sounds like a useful feature to free up ship slots but sounds like it might be tough on my bank and inventory. I use my ships to store equipment. Originally Posted by Noram 'Dry Docking' Sounds vaguely gross, I like it. That sounds. Uncomfortable.

These are in addition to your pre-existing active ship slots. So you have your 10+ ship slots of active ships, plus your drydock of ships you don't actively use anymore, but don't want to discharge. This is especially helpful for those people who horde lockbox/lobi ships, where if you discharge them, you'll never get them back and have to pay to get them back. I still suspect, because I'm suspicious, that this will be another 'service upgrade' via the ZEN store. You'll get probably something like 5 slots for free, and have to buy additionals from the store. They've done that with chara slots, BOff slots, DOff slots, ship slots, Inventory, Bank, Acct Bank, Costumes and loadouts

But the blog post said this: Since players cannot access a Dry Docked ship’s equipment, everything currently equipped on a ship will be moved into your inventory when the ship enters Dry Dock. In any case, I'm pretty sure additional dry dock slots will be in the C-Store.

Dry Dock is an option at the ship selector which allows storing of your currently active ships occupying regular ship slots. Dry Docked ships are moved into separate slots, freeing up the room for another ship to be ready for active duty. While stored, ships cannot be used, but they can be reactivated again at the ship selector if there is a free active ship slot. When you Dry Dock a ship, all ...

Yes. Even if the coding were implemented to raise the number of ship slots, they would take up way more memory (and thus consume more hard drive space and network bandwidth for Cryptic) than these dry-docked ships. 0. davefenestratorMemberPosts: 10,511Arc User. November 2015.
Nothing will cause a permanent Admiralty card to be removed from you. That's why they're permanent (as opposed to the consumable 1x cards). You can drydock a ship or dismiss it and you will never lose its admiralty card (probably only do this to C-Store or event ships that can be freely reclaimed). Reply.
necaradan666 Feb 19, 2020 @ 2:20am. You should keep leveling ships in dry dock until you hit level 52 so that they can be used for low level admiralty cards, after you receive your cards those ships won't really have any further use so they can be discarded if you want. 1. The ship comes back with all equipment slots empty. 2. There is no button to do it in one click. You would find an active ship and click dry dock, then find a ship in your dry dock and click activate. 3. The advantage is that you can keep a ship and it doesn't count against your active ship roster. It's mostly used for Lobi and Fleet ships ...
Dry docking is for those people that have hit max ships slot numbers, but still require more space for new ships. Cryptic could not add anymore normal ship slots, as the server cannot take it, so this is the best solution. You have a valid point. The admiralty system alone is enough to serve as drydock.

A dry dock (sometimes dry-dock or drydock) is a narrow basin or vessel that can be flooded to allow a load to be floated in, then drained to allow that load to come to rest on a dry platform. Dry docks are used for the construction, maintenance, and repair of ships, boats, and other water craft. So wouldn't it be better to rename Dry Docking as ...

it is how it is programmed. you are even warned about that each time you drydock a ship. When you dry dock a ship be it in star trek or in real life usa navy, the engines guns and any other gear of value is removed. It's basically just a hull. So in the game yes it is working perfectly fine and as intended.

Drydock management - Thoughts on more effective use of ships. I wonder if the number of ships out should be limited by number of dry-docks. You only really need a dry-dock when building, repairing, upgrading or loading / unloading a ship. What if the number of dry-docks put a limit on these activities being done in parallel.
