100+ 360° college campus tour videos of top US & Canadian colleges, 100% free on Youtube!

For more immersive playback:

Pro tip 1: Youtube defaults to 720p resolution which is too low for 360° video. Click the settings icon at the bottom right of the player and change to 2160p for MUCH better quality.

Pro tip 2: Playback on phone/ipad tends to be much smoother than playback on PC (unless your PC has dedicated graphics card).

Pro tip 3: For wider field of view , go into full screen mode (F11 on computer only) and scroll down on your mouse. You’ll get about 1-2 notches on your scroll wheel before the page itself starts to scroll down. This is the widest field of view, press Page Up to go back up to the top of the video and enjoy the wider field of view!

Did you really visit all these schools on your own? Yes I actually went to each of these schools and filmed, curated all the facts and stats, and personally made each video. You’d be amazed what you can accomplish if you just chip at it a little every day.

Why did you do this? This project got started in 2017 when I took my wife on a road trip to “see the country”, and I tried my hand at vlogging about colleges we visited along the way. I had a 360° camera to take b-roll, which ended up being the only usable footage from that trip (vlogging is harder than it looks!). Soon after, two of my friends got married in Boston a week apart from each other so that got us up to 40 colleges, all on the east coast. You don’t quit when you’ve done 40 schools already, you go for 100.

How could you afford this? Good planning, not taking direct flights (actually searching for cross country flights with long stopovers) lots of great friends’ to crash at, a working wife, and willingness to sleep in Walmart parking lots.

Are you going to other schools or is this it? The goal is to hit all 100 of the USNews top 100 (currently at 85/100). I’m also sitting on about 20 international universities I’ve yet to edit. I plan on being in the UK and Australia once COVID-19 blows over.

Why is rank trend important? You’ll notice on the bottom of each video there is the school’s 2010, 2015, and 2020 USNews rank. This is because the trend of a school’s rank tells you more than that year’s rank. Research into the USNews rankings tells us that +/- 4 in rank from one year to the next is statistical noise, so don’t get caught up in the specifics. However if a school is getting higher in rank from 5 years ago, 10 years ago, that’s probably a sign they’re consistently improving. You want your college to be ranked high even 5, 10 years after you’ve graduated, and the rank trend tells you that.

What do you think is the most important metric when picking a school? I feel the boy/girl ratio is one of the most underrated stats and needs to be considered. It is the #1 factor that impacts your college experience day in/day out. You won’t necessarily feel how different a rank 30 is from a rank 60 school, but you will definitely feel when a campus is 30% female vs 60% female. I went to GT when there were only 25% women, and let’s just say it was miserable on campus. When the ratio is that skewed, the rarer sex tends to be much more proud, and the guys had to make inroads at Emory and Agnes Scott to have any female contact (it didn’t help that my group of friends weren’t the smoothest engineers you’ve ever seen).

The second most under-rated stat is the acceptance rate. If you plot acceptance rate against boy/girl ratio, you’ll find an interesting quadrant, where the party schools are high female high acceptance rate, and the dreary ones are the low female low acceptance ones. But that’s probably where the ladies want to go if a M.R.S. degree is a potential option.

looking forward to watching some of these….why all the focus, I wonder, on USNWR universities and so little love for UNSWR liberal arts colleges ? https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-liberal-arts-colleges I would have loved to see tours of more of the schools on the national liberal arts colleges list. Thanks!

I had to hit the “big ones” first since they are so popular. Your suggestion is valid, for the next round I do hope to go to more of the liberal arts colleges! Thanks for the suggestion

How effective are uc irvine virtual tours.

It depends how you use them. UC Irvine is a hustling, bustling campus and community. The beauty of UC Irvine virtual tours on CampusReel is that authentic video tours, made by real students, can be spectacular at capturing the UC Irvine vibe. We also go well beyond the confines of the UC Irvine campus by taking you around Irvine. In traditional virtual tours, you will mostly see still, unengaging images and will not see the surrounding area at all – which is why CampusReel virtual tours are so important.

Can a UC Irvine virtual tour replace a traditional in-person visit?

If you cannot visit UC Irvine in person, then we can honestly say that we believe a CampusReel virtual tour of UC Irvine is absolutely the most effective and holistic way to understand the UC Irvine people, campus and community. However, if you do plan on visiting UC Irvine and other colleges in person, we strongly recommend that you at least prescreen your college options on CampusReel before spending the time and money to visit. Most prospective families find that as soon as the step on campus, they instantly know whether or not they like the school – but they’ve already spent all that time and money getting there! Our goal is to eliminate all the time and money visiting UC Irvine in person until you can make a strong educated guess that it’s worth the investment.

What places can I virtually tour at UC Irvine ?

For your convenience, below is a list of UC Irvine places you can virtually tour on CampusReel.

  • UCI Student Center & Event Services at UC Irvine
  • Campus-University Center at UC Irvine
  • Ayala Science Library at UC Irvine
  • Engineering Gateway at UC Irvine
  • Mesa Court at UC Irvine
  • The Anteatery at UC Irvine
  • Edwards University Town Center 6 at UC Irvine
  • Bren Events Center at UC Irvine
  • Phoenix Food Court at UC Irvine
  • Mesa Court Housing at UC Irvine
  • Infinity Fountain at UC Irvine
  • Anteater Learning Pavilion (ALP) at UC Irvine
  • Aldrich Park at UC Irvine
  • Anteater Recreation Center at UC Irvine
  • University of California Irvine at UC Irvine
  • Langson Library at UC Irvine
  • Robert Cohen Theater & Dance Studios at UC Irvine
  • Aldrich Hall at UC Irvine
  • The Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine
  • UCI Libraries Gateway Study Center at UC Irvine
  • Classroom and Office Building (UCI-COB) at UC Irvine
  • Berkeley & Columbia Court Apartment Homes at UC Irvine
  • Middle Earth - Quenya Hall at UC Irvine
  • Campus Plaza at UC Irvine
  • Pippin Commons at UC Irvine
  • Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine

What are the downsides of a UC Irvine virtual tour?

The downside of virtually touring UC Irvine on CampusReel is that, admittedly, our technology does not yet mimic the exact feeling and experience of visiting UC Irvine in person. We are working on this though! A common request we also receive from users is to add more perspectives (e.g. student guides) to the platform. Rest assured we are working on adding more CampusReel guides to the UC Irvine virtual tour. However, our selection of guides still far outweighs the available perspectives of traditional virtual tour platforms.

What are the benefits of a UC Irvine virtual tour?

The most obvious benefit of a UC Irvine virtual tour on CampusReel is that is can be accessed from anywhere. This can save families a lot of time and money compared to visiting UC Irvine in person . Another often overlooked benefit of a CampusReel virtual tour is that it goes far beyond a traditional in person tour UC Irvine . Campus visits are limited both in time and scope – how are you expected to truly understand a college in a 1 hour tour? That’s why we stress the added benefit of CampusReel virtual tours – experience UC Irvine and Irvine during different seasons, days of the week, and even hours of the day. What’s game day like? What is finals week life? Again, traditional virtual touring platforms don’t include this benefit.

Drone Safety

Uci drone safety.

Our campus is constantly evolving to the latest and greatest tools and drones have become one of them. Our aerospace and mechanical engineering students are building them, our graduate students are using them to collect data overseas, and our Strategic Communications department has been using drones to gather footage of our campus! EHS has developed a UCI Procedure and Program for drone use on our campus. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email [email protected] or call EHS Front Desk 949-824-6200 .

UCI Drone Procedure Scope

UAS flights at all UC campuses require prior approval and post-flight reporting. The new UC Drone Web App (go to UC Drone Web App , sign in and select the drone symbol) provides a unified portal for managing flight requests and reporting for UC students, staff, and faculty. This new app will help streamline the process while ensuring the highest level of safety and regulatory compliance. Requires a UC login. A User Guide is available to walk users through the new tool.

UCI Faculty, Staff, and Student Drone/UAS:

  • Drone Flight Request User Guide
  • For ARC field reservations, please allow 3-5 business days for field reservation.
  • Instructions

Non-UCI 3rd Party Vendors, Drone/UAS Operators, Visitors:

  • Submit Flight Request directly to [email protected]
  • Please allow 3-5 business days for response.

Frequently Asked Questions

The University of California recognizes that UAS offer great potential as tools for research and other educational functions as well as providing opportunities for recreational use and business pursuits across a diverse array of users and industries. The University also has an obligation to consider public safety, privacy, civil rights and civil liberties issues related to the use of UAS. In short, all UAS usage on UC property, for UC business or by UC-owned UAS must be pre-approved and documented by the designated UAS campus point of contact. In addition, non-UC operators on UC property must maintain sufficient liability insurance coverage.

A list of the campus points of contact can be found here . Please understand that in many cases, the use of UAS on UC property are regulated by existing campus policies on activities, registered organizations and use of properties. These regulations are designed to protect and promote the rights of the members of the university, prevent interference with university functions or activities and assure compliance with all pertinent laws and other applicable university policies. For UC students, staff and faculty, you may submit a Flight Request with UC Drones Web App (Go to UC Drones Web App , sign in and select the drone symbol) or contact the campus for additional or alternative means to submit a request.

There may be several special circumstances, but in general, the operator must have an SUAS license from the FAA and must submit a Flight Request to the local campus point of contact. Depending on the complexity and timing of the request, the flight request could be approved in minutes or may take several weeks if extra FAA approval or coordination is necessary. A Flight Request may be a single flight, a set of flights or cover a year’s worth of activity – the details can be coordinated during the request.

The most common applicable set of laws for flying a drone is Part 107 ( Flying for Work or Business ). This set of law requires the operator to have an SUAS license, have a registered drone and follow the drone laws that limit drone flying to up to 400 ft AGL, during daylight only and may not fly over people or moving vehicles. There are additionally special circumstances or restrictions for foreign nationals (international students, visiting scholars), operating on certain public lands, or within certain states or municipalities.

Yes, as long as you comply with UC policy. Anyone operating under UC policy for university business (regardless of ownership) may additionally be provided with UC UAS liability insurance coverage free of charge.

Please feel free to contact either your campus point of contact or the UC Center of Excellence on UAS Safety. We will work to ensure that there is a path forward for you to conduct your flight activity. We have experience with international UAS regulations, public agency airworthiness certification, night-time operations, airspace authorizations, DOT foreign national operator permits and agricultural spraying certificates to name a few.

(September 12, 2024) — Even when first-year University of California, Irvine School of Law student Ethan Prom was across the globe riding a camel in Cairo, he kept UCI close to his heart — quite literally: he was wearing a UC Irvine shirt. Ethan enjoyed globetrotting over the last several months, but his Anteater roots beckoned. After graduating from UC Irvine in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and government, Ethan is back on campus as a 1L “double Anteater” among UC Irvine Law’s talented new class of J.D. students .

“After traveling to 27 countries across Asia, Central America, Europe, and Australia over the past four months, it is great to be back home at UC Irvine,” he said.

Ethan’s homecoming to his alma mater should come as no surprise given his record of leadership and community-building at UC Irvine. In his first year as an undergraduate, he rolled up his shirt sleeves and worked as a Mesa Court Center Attendant where he sorted mail, picked up phone calls and performed a variety of administrative tasks. By his final year, he served as a resident advisor who helped students find resources for mental health and academic support, organized social gatherings, and liaised with campus staff to troubleshoot facilities issues. His experiences culminated in his role as executive vice president of Phi Alpha Delta, where he oversaw mentorship, event planning, and managed relationships with guest speakers.

Ethan’s budding interest in law led him to take undergraduate courses on topics such as international law, trial law, logic, and argument and research. It also motivated him to get involved in numerous law-related extracurricular activities. Ethan volunteered as a teaching assistant at UC Irvine Law’s Saturday Academy of Law , advising local ninth-grade students on how to pursue higher education from a low-income background and collaborating with UC Irvine Law staff on substantive lesson plans. He also served as a team advisor for the National Student Leadership Conference where he organized events for high school students about international affairs; a special committee assistant director for UC Irvine’s Model United Nations chapter; a university mock trial team competitor; and a campus climate commission member for UC Irvine’s Associated Students.

Before entering law school, Ethan was a Senior Business Immigration Analyst at Fragomen where he initiated and filed non-immigrant visas for corporate clients, sparking an interest in immigration law. As he begins his J.D. studies, Ethan aims to leverage his experiences not only to excel in his legal education but also to continue making a meaningful impact in the UC Irvine community.

Exhibition of Artwork by Yong Soon Min Explores Historic and Ongoing Impact of the Korean War

Kisssss by yong soon min october 5 – december 14, 2024 uc irvine contemporary arts center gallery.

Yong Soon Min, Photo from KISSSSS, Photographer David Kelley[94]

For Immediate Release September 9, 2024

Irvine, CA … KISSSSS by Yong Soon Min is an exhibition comprising three parts: Both Sides Now (2018), Still/Incessant (2018/2024), and KISSSSS (2024) by the late Yong Soon Min, Professor Emerita in University of California, Irvine’s (UCI) Department of Art. Featuring her final artwork, the presentation is curated by Min’s colleague and friend, Bridget R. Cooks, PhD, the Chancellor’s Fellow and Professor of African American Studies and Art History at UCI.

On view at the Contemporary Arts Center Gallery on UCI’s campus from October 5 to December 14, 2024, KISSSSS by Yong Soon Min is co-sponsored by UCI’s Jack and Shanaz Langson Institute and Museum of California Art (Langson IMCA) and Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) with lead support generously provided by UC Irvine’s Center for Critical Korean Studies and Claire Trevor Society.

Throughout her career as an artist, activist, educator, and curator, Min (1953–2024) examined the impact of the Korean War, particularly the ongoing division of the two countries

at the 38th parallel. KISSSSS (2024), the last project Min worked on before her death, explores how entangled geopolitical relations between North and South Korea, China, the Soviet Union, United Nations, and United States created the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that continues today.

Although KISSSSS remains unfinished, the installation includes conceptual elements and photographs from a shoot the artist oversaw shortly before her passing. The 14 photographs in the rear gallery correspond with seven brick stations in the center of the space. On top of these stations are notes and reference material from Min’s research that trace important political events since the signing of the 1953 armistice that established the DMZ, divided the country, and thereby instantly separated families.

These notes are key to understanding the historical timeline enacted by the characters in the photographs inspired by artist René Magritte’s painting, The Lovers (1928). Min created a contradictory sense of distance and intimacy by depicting figures kissing and embracing with flags masking their faces. She drew upon Magritte’s anonymity of the individuals and the elusiveness of intimacy while heightening the symbolic meaning of the flags and the political entanglement of the six entities they represent.

Both Sides Now and Still/Incessant reflect Min’s continued interest in the DMZ from different perspectives. Both Sides Now are prints of collages that Min created with postcards purchased during her travels to the Joint Security Area in South Korea and North Korea in the 1990s. She spliced and reassembled the postcards to show alternating depictions of both nations simultaneously. For Still/Incessant , one collage is enlarged and installed at the back of the gallery as a mural. The mural-scale format situates viewers in the room where the armistice was signed and emphasizes the ongoing effect of the historical event still keenly felt today. This image is also the subject of the five newly produced artist books, which is Min’s last finished artwork.
