Tata Safari Adventure Persona Now In White Colour With Added Features
Tata Safari Adventure Persona can now be bought in Orcus White colour and is equipped with a host of premium features
Tata Motors has today announced that the Safari Adventure Persona is made available in Orcus White colour and it gets features such as ventilated seats in the first and second row, wireless charging facility, air purifier, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, etc. In September 2021, Tata introduced the Safari Gold Edition to expand its range.
The Gold Edition comes with cosmetic enhancements and added features and it replaced the Adventure Persona as the new top-spec variant. With the addition of new features, the Safari Adventure Persona’s appeal has further increased. It must be noted that the Safari seven-seater SUV can be had in Dark, Gold and Adventure Persona Editions with each having a unique flavour compared to the standard model.
The homegrown manufacturer launched the Safari in early 2021 and is available in six- and seven-seater configurations. It is basically the stretched version of the Harrier midsize SUV to accommodate a third-row seating arrangement and it has been decently received amongst customers. The Adventure Persona is one of the sought after trims due to its ability to stand out amongst the rest.
The Tata Safari Adventure Persona used to be offered only with the Tropical Mist shade and is now accompanied by the Orchid White. On the outside, it features blacked finished elements in place of the chrome bits as the headlamp surrounds, ORVMs, door handles, signature tri-arrow patterned front grille, Safari badging, front skid plate, etc are done up in black.
The 18-inch machine alloy wheels are finished in Charcoal grey colour. The interior comes with piano black and dark trim inserts alongside Earthy Brown leatherette upholstery as opposed to the white trim in other variants. Some of the highlighting features are an 8.8-inch touchscreen, a nine-speaker JBL audio, six airbags, HDC, EPB, panoramic sunroof, terrain response modes and so on.
With no change in performance, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder Kryotec diesel engine kicks out a maximum power output of 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque converter automatic unit. The Tata Safari is currently priced between Rs. 14.99 lakh and Rs. 23.29 lakh (ex-showroom).

A Close Look : Tata Safari Adventure Persona
Tata Motors is trying out a new strategy here and has introduced a special edition of the Tata Safari named 'Adventure Persona' to give as much boost at the launch itself.
Car manufacturers introducing special editions of their popular cars isn't breaking news. In most cases, special editions are launched to give a boost to sales when the curve starts to flatten. Tata Motors is trying out a new strategy here and has introduced a special edition of the Tata Safari named 'Adventure Persona' to give as much boost at the launch itself.
This special edition Safari is available only in the 'Tropical Mist' paint that you see here which is somewhat a dusty blue shade. It's available in the top-end XZ+ variant in manual as well as automatic avatars at a premium of Rs 20,000 over the regular top-end XZ+ variant.
Team-BHP was invited for a quick walk around shoot of the Tata Safari Adventure Persona, so here are some quick observations about what's different in this special edition from the regular Safari.

Right off the bat, so much less chrome! This was a concern that we had mentioned in the official review, and without the excess chrome, the face of the Safari looks much better. The grille is now finished in piano black which makes the Tata logo stand out quite nicely. Headlamp and fog lamp clusters which got silver and chrome treatment in the regular Safari are also finished in black. Don't miss the black skid plate at the bottom which is brushed silver in the regular Safari:
The Adventure Persona edition also gets this black 'Safari' lettering on the bonnet which is unique to this edition:
In profile view, the Safari is chrome-free and looks quite nice:
For starters, you have black 18-inch alloy wheels. The design is the same as the regular Safari, but I think these look way better:
You also get this black strip across the door handles which is a nice touch:
No more blingy chrome roof rails. These are finished in black and aren't functional (Only variants without a sunroof get functional roof rails):
Not much is different at the back, except for...
...the 'Safari' name that is now finished in black and...
... the black skid plate:
Jump on the inside and instead of the dual-tone white and black theme, you have an all-black dashboard. Not just that, the brushed silver inserts across the dashboard have been replaced by piano black including the ones on the steering wheel:
Here's a closer look at the piano black insert below the ashwood trim. Notice the air vents though; this is where Tata has added chrome in the place of brushed silver inserts on the regular Safari and the Harrier. Have to say though, it does go well with the overall ambience of the cabin:
In an attempt to make it more adventure-oriented, the seats are no longer oyster white but are finished in beige (in Tata terms, 'Signature Earthy Brown Benecke Kaliko' said to have been inspired by the golden hues of desert sand). Essentially, they'll still soil but won't show as prominently as the oyster-white seats:
All black door pad makes so much more sense than the one on the regular Safari . Moreover, the tan/beige leather on the armrest is a nice contrast to the black:
A closer look at the leather insert on the grab handle and chrome door handle. Perforated leather looks classy:
A look at the rear doorpad finished in black and beige:
The Adventure Persona edition gets captain seats:
Piano black replaces the brushed silver on this phone holder:
A look at the third row of seats:

Engine & Transmission
Timely services will keep a motor efficient and in top shape.
The official title given by the manufacturer in terms of the name of the engine, the displacement and the number of cylinders.
A bigger displacement and more than four-cylinders generally indicate a performance-oriented engine.
All cars in India either run on petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG or electric power.
Gives a good idea of the performance of the vehicle under full thrust. A higher figure here usually means a higher top speed as well.
Higher the power, the peppier the engine but it can also affect fuel economy.
Relates to in-gear acceleration. A higher figure here means better roll-on acceleration, fewer gear shifts, and possibly better fuel efficiency.
The more torque at low RPM range makes the engine feel more responsive. It also allows the engine to run smoothly without too many gear changes.
This is the maximum fuel efficiency that an engine gives. All numbers are provided by the manufacturer based on tests conducted and specified by the standards of the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India)
Such fuel efficiency attained while driving in special conditions makes it unlikely to get it in real-world conditions
Approximate maximum number of kilometers which can be traveled on a full tank of fuel or fully charged battery
Cars come with different drivetrain configurations depending on the segment.
Front-wheel drive (FWD) is most common in mainstream cars while expensive cars or SUVs come with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).
Type of transmission used to transfer power from the engine to the wheels
A manually operated transmission is the most popular type, thanks to its simplicity and low cost. Varied types of automatic transmissions are also available.
Set by the Indian Government, this governs the amount of air pollutants released by cars to make the atmosphere safer for humans.
Manufacturers today offer turbochargers to boost engine power without affecting its fuel economy. Superchargers are found in more expensive cars but on the downside, they are not very efficient.
Turbochargers are more effective but require plenty of heat management. Superchargers, meanwhile, offer linear bump in power but they are comparatively more complex.
Tests reveal that electric cars are substantially more efficient than internal combustion engines.
Dimensions & Weight
The length of the car decides its segment. In India, cars that are less than 4 metres in length enjoy reduced excise duties.
- Length: 4668
Longer length results in more cabin space. It also adds to straight line stability.
A car's width is defined as its widest point without its mirrors.
- Width: 1922
Although more width gives you more lateral space inside the cabin, it makes the car more difficult to park in narrow spots.
The height of the car denotes the highest point of the vehicle from the ground.
- Height: 1795
Taller the car, the more headroom there is on offer inside the cabin. However, a tall boy stance also affect the car’s centre of gravity which can cause more body roll.
The space between the center of the front and rear wheels.
- Wheelbase: 2741
The longer the wheelbase, the more space there is inside the cabin.
The number of doors define the category of car. For example – four door means sedan, two-door means coupe while five-doors usually refer to a hatchback, MPV or an SUV.
The number of people that can be seated comfortably in the car, which has also been mandated by the car manufacturer.
- Seating Capacity: 7
Smaller cars usually have two rows which can seat five, but some SUVs and MPVs have three rows and can seat around 7-8 passengers.
Boot space defines how practical the car is with respect to how much luggage it can carry.
- Bootspace: 420
A boot with a large and wide opening is ideal for loading heavy items. Additionally, a lower loading height also makes it easy to put in luggage.
The official volume of the fuel tank of a car, usually denoted in litres.
If a car has a large fuel tank, it can cover long distances without refuelling.
Suspensions, Brakes, Steering & Tyres
Almost all cars in India use an independent front suspension which is usually the MacPherson Strut type.
The rear suspension can either be non-independent or independent.
Most of the budget cars have non-independent suspension while the more expensive ones get independent rear suspension which offers better bump absorption.
Most of the vehicles sold in India get ventilated or non-ventilated disc brakes upfront.
- The ventilated discs are more popular thanks to them providing better stopping power and it also works well in hot conditions.
In affordable cars, drums brakes are fitted at the rear as they are cost effective.
Disc setup at the rear is now getting more popular as cars are getting faster in the real world.
Almost all steering systems in cars today have an assist to help park them better at low speeds - these can be hydraulic, electro-hydraulic or electric.
The wheels used on cars are either steel rims with plastic wheel cover hub or alloy wheels on higher spec models or expensive cars.
Razor cut, or diamond cut alloy wheel design are not getting more popular. Manufacturers usually offer these in top-end trim of their car models.
Important in a country with varying quality of roads, spare wheels ensure one doesn’t get stranded when one of the main tyres gets damaged.
Select premium car models feature space savers (smaller than the stock wheels) to save on boot space.
The profile/dimension of rubber tyre that fits on the front wheels.

This feature automatically steers the car to prevent it from moving out of the lane when there is no driver input
An assistance feature that alerts the driver who is backing out of a parking space if another vehicle is approaching
One must always be cautious of pedestrians, children and other obstacles when backing up.
- Airbags 6 Airbags (Driver, Front Passenger, 2 Curtain, Driver Side, Front Passenger Side)
Safer three-point seatbelts for passengers seated in the middle of the second row of seats.
Budget cars are usually fitted with more economical lap belts for the middle-occupant.

Budget cars are usually not offered with headrests for the middle occupant of the second-row to save on costs. Headrests are instrumental in reducing whiplash injuries in case of an accident
A digital gauge that provides the live status of the air pressure in every tyre of a car.
For accurate readings, ensure that the sensors on the rim are not tampered with during any wheel/tyre repairs
Anchor points or strap systems built into car seats to keep child seats in place, especially during a crash

Pick from popular cities, tata safari adventure persona sees more demand among higher trims.
Easier to maintain interior and unique exterior theme are cited as reasons to opt for the Safari Adventure Persona.

Since the reborn Tata Safari arrived a month ago, it has been available in seven trims – XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ, XZ+ and Adventure Persona. Priced from Rs 14.49-21.45 lakh, Tata’s new flagship SUV seems to have garnered a decent level of demand, especially for the higher Safari variants , with waiting period going up to two months for some variants.
From among the higher trim levels, customers are increasingly opting for the top-spec Adventure Persona over the XZ+, despite the Rs 20,000 premium it commands. Read on to know why.
- Safari customers feel the Adventure Persona’s interiors are easier to maintain
- Rs 20,000 premium also adds exterior changes and a unique colour
- Current waiting period on the Safari goes up to two months at some locations
Tata Safari: Adventure Persona in demand
Although the Safari XZ+/XZA+ (Rs 19.99-21.25 lakh) and Adventure edition (Rs 20.20-21.45 lakh) share their features list – Terrain Response Modes, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a nine-speaker JBL audio system, six airbags, hill-descent control, ISOFIX anchors, an electronic parking brake, a massive panoramic sunroof and optional captain’s seats in the second row, instead of a bench – the Adventure Persona gets a few cosmetic changes inside and outside, including an exclusive blue colour called Tropical Mist.
Buyers prefer the blacked-out bits on the Safari Adventure Persona’s exterior, and the beige-on-black interior trim. The Safari in XZ and XZ+ form comes with ‘Oyster White’ upholstery, which isn’t going down well with many customers, who fear it will be very hard to keep clean. The Earthy Brown leatherette upholstery and the black and darkened trim inserts inside the cabin are perceived to be easier to maintain.
Interestingly, the lower-spec Safari XE, XM, XT and XT+ variants all get the darkened interior bits as standard, along with dark grey fabric seat covers. Also, Tata Motors has added the Tropical Mist exterior shade in the standard Safari for all variants, except the entry-level XE, according to a few dealers.
All variants come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 170hp and 350Nm of peak torque, which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Except for the XE, XT and XT+, all trims also get the option of a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
Tata Safari: rivals
Competition to the three-row Tata Safari comes from the MG Hector Plus , which is available in 6- and 7-seat form, and the 7-seat Mahindra XUV500 . An all-new XUV500 is in the works and is expected to arrive in the coming months. The Hyundai Alcazar – the Korean brand’s Creta-based three-row SUV – will also contend in this segment.

New Tata Safari vs Adventure Persona - Detailed Walkaround Comparison Video
Earlier last month, Tata Motors launched the all-new Safari with prices starting from INR 14.69 lakh and going up to INR 21.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). One of the biggest talking points about the 2021 Safari has been the new Adventure Persona variant - the top-of-the-line variant that comes with unique exterior and interior alterations which really make it stand out. So here's a detailed walkaround of the new Tata Safari Adventure Persona against the regular mode, highlighting their differences.
Tata Safari vs Adventure Persona - Exterior Changes
If you are fed up with increasing amount of chrome in our cars. the Safari Adventure Persona is just the right vehicle for you. This trim deletes all chrome from the regular model for gloss black or granite black finishes. The Safari Adventure Persona comes in an exclusive 'Tropical Mist' blue paint shade. The color contrasts beautifully with the blacked-out elements on the new Safari.
Further, the grille, door handles, headlamp surround, window line, badging, and the roof rails are all finished in glossy black. These elements come finished in chrome in the standard Safari. There's also a bold 'Safari' lettering embossed on the bonnet of the Adventure Persona variant. The silver skid plates on the front and rear bumpers have also been blacked out. The 18-inch alloy wheels are similar in design on both the model, but are finished in gunmetal grey on the Adventure Persona variant.

Tata Safari vs Adventure Persona - Interior Changes
Stepping inside the cabin, the interiors of the Safari Adventure Persona also has its own unique identity. While the black and white interior color scheme of the regular Safari stand for premiumness and luxury, the black and brown interior color scheme on the Adventure Persona is meant to highlight the Adventure theme. The upholstery and the door pads are thus finished in a light brown shade. It will also be easier to maintain than the white seats and interior trim on the standard Safari.
The dashboard, meanwhile, has been finished with an all-black look with new dark chrome and piano black trims and furnishing. The center console, however, gets a light brown insert around the gear lever. The Safari Adventure Persona will be available in both 6- and 7-seater configuration. As its based on the top-spec trims, the Safari Adventure Persona c0mes loaded with all the bells and whistles that's offered with the regular Safari.
Tata Safari - Engine Options
There are no mechanical changes on the Safari Adventure Persona over the regular Safari. Both variants come powered by the Harrier's Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The Adventure Persona is available with both the 6-speed manual and the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. The top-end trims also get three ESP-based off-road modes - normal, rough, and wet - as well as three drive modes - eco, city and sport.
Just like the Tata Harrier gets Dark and Camo Editions based on the top-spec trims, the Safari Adventure Persona is based on the top-spec XZ+/XZA+ variants. Priced at INR 20.20 lakh for the manual variant and INR 21.45 lakh for the automatic, it is INR 21,000 more expensive over the standard variant. However, given the killer looks and perhaps more practically appointed interiors, this would reallny be our pick of the lot.

The Russian Amur bear in Siberia
It seemed like traveling to the end of the world for this rare subspecies of brown bear. I went to the majestic Land of the Siberian Tiger and the world’s largest forest. To get there, I flew over halfway around the world and back for incredible trophy. It would have been slightly shorter to have flown to Anchorage, Alaska then to Russia, but I chose instead to fly 12 hours from upstate New York where I live to Moscow. I wanted to stand in the middle of Red Square, see the Kremlin, Saint Basil’s Cathedral and drink-in the rich culture that is Moscow. I thoroughly enjoyed my day-and-a-half romp through this historic city.
My journey continued as a flew another eight hours from one side of this giant nation to the other. I landed in Khabavsko where I was met and drove five hours into a completely isolated wilderness deep in the Siberian forest. I arrived at camp to learn that I would be in bear camp with Weatherby Award winner Alan Saekman. Alan had already been in bear camp nine days, logging in more than 100 hours in various bear stands. He had only seen a couple of cubs in all that time.
After arriving in camp, I shot my gun to make sure it was on and was pronounced ready to hunt. I quickly changed and was whisked away on a four-wheeler for an extremely bumpy one-hour rough ride. We approached the tree stand with caution as only a few days prior a large tiger was caught by the trail camera in the middle of the day. I also learned that Alan had hunted out of the same stand but had no luck. I was bone weary from my eight-hour flight, five-hour drive to camp, followed by my one-hour hour four-wheel adventure.
I had to fight to stay awake in the stand. My adrenalin finally subsided as the hours rolled by and jet lag and exhaustion hit me in various waves. I was fighting sleep until I heard a twig snap and came to full alert. I glanced over at my Russian guide whose stoic face had not changed expressions since we climbed into the stand. It was dark but judging from the noise I assumed the bear had circled around.
I picked up my gun, preparing for a shot, when my guide finally leaned over and touched my arm. The bear’s vitals were blocked, so I was unable to take the shot. My guide wanted me to shoot, but through my scope no shot had presented itself.
My frustrated guide gave me a mean look. The bear had turned and was now looking at us. I squeezed of a shoot that hit the bear perfectly. The large boar jumped and spun around. My guide fired two follow-up shots with his semi-automatic Russian rifle. I worked my bolt quickly and fired my second round that hit the bear’s ribs, dropping the bear only a few feet from where he had been standing. I decided to put a final round into the bear, just to be safe, as trailing a 900-pound wounded bear through the rain forest was not high on my “to do” list.
My Russian guide actually smiled at me after I pulled the trigger for the final shot on the downed bear. I was totally overjoyed and completely exhausted. My bear was a really good one. We guessed the bear to be around nine feet tall, over 850 pounds with at least a 24 to 25-inch skull.
I felt bad for Alan who had put in so much time and yet I flew straight into camp and three hours later I had a big bear down out of the same stand he had been hunting. Alan told me that three other hunters also came into camp, harvested nice bears and left since he had been in camp. He was not having much bear luck.
Alan, being a wise man, brought along Hannes Pianner, a professional cameraman who was there to document the adventure. The problem was Hannes had only filmed raccoon dogs running around and two cubs in nine days. The next night Alan, Hannes and their guide went out to hunt but never came back. We were concerned but assumed they had vehicle troubles and were stranded.
The next morning the guides headed out to look for them, but as it turned out, Alan had decided to spend the night in the blind, hoping the bear might come in. It is no wonder Alan has won so many hunting awards. The darn thing of it was that nothing showed up.
We were all playing cards the next day, chatting about what a rough night it had to have been. I honestly don’t think I would have been able stay that long on stand. It was during our talk that I learned that Alan is 80 years old! The man is truly a machine. To hunt that hard at any age is tough enough, but to do it at 80 years young — holy cow!
The next night Alan finally scored, harvesting a nice Asian white lipped bear that is known for the distinctive white V it has on its chest. Hannes captured it on film with some excellent footage.
The hunt continued. I wanted to collect the rare raccoon dog that only exist in a few areas of the world. Alan was still looking for his Amur bear.
The hunting got even rougher as a steady rain began that did not quit or waver, turning everything into streams and ponds. The temperature plummeted, as well, making the hunting wet and cold.
Alan stayed out later and hunted harder than I did in these conditions. I have been a successful athlete my entire life and consider myself to be a driven person, but I was given a lesson in determination and perseverance from a man who was not only 80 years old, but by a person who has proven himself over and over, winning many prestigious hunting awards. You would think the man would let up, but obviously that doesn’t exist in his DNA.
The hunt wore on, but the weather didn’t cooperate. After 14 long days of hunting, Alan’s trip was over. On his last day, Jay Link and two of his hunting buddies arrived at camp. I was shocked to learn that the two men were competing for the world’s highest hunting award: SCI’s International Hunter of the Year.
Alan has taken second place in this award an amazing four times, once to his wife Barbara! It was a thrill to be sharing bear camp with two of the best hunters on the planet. I enjoyed listening to the two men talk about their quest for various species. I was getting hunting lessons from these two extremely elite hunters. It was an amazing experience.
Alan left, and I hated to see him go. It was a true pleasure to share bear camp with such an outstanding person.
Jay Link has won SCI’s Pantheon Award, the World Hunting Ring back in 2011, and was the front runner for the International Hunter of the Year, so talking and sharing a small cabin with him for a couple of days was indeed educational. I just wish I had brought ear plugs. The man is also a world class snorer.
Jay and his two buddies hunted extremely hard for four days, but not a shot was fired. The largest typhon to hit Japan in the last 30 years struck, sending waves of rain and wind all the way to our bear camp. The animals were just not moving in this severe weather.
Jay is an official SCI scorer who was kind enough to measure my bear skull and if the score holds up after the 60-day drying period, I will have taken the fourth largest Amur bear ever!
I was in camp with the best of the best, but I am the one bringing home a world class trophy, proving once again that sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.
We all thank our good friend Anton Tonchev of Hunt Europe and Links Safari for providing this memorable trip to the far eastern part of Russia.–Darrell Sterling
