It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.

Day 3: Yerevan – Lake Sevan – “Armenian Switzerland” Dilijan – Yerevan

Breakfast at hotel. Later drive to Lake Sevan, one of the wonders in Armenia. This blue lake is one of the greatest high mountainous freshwater lakes of Eurasia. On a clear and sunny day, the water is often of a deep turquoise colour. Total surface of the lake is 940 km2. Climb on the peninsula, from where opens a fascinating and breathtaking view on Sevan Lake. Visit Sevanavank Monastery (9th century), which stands in its greatness on the peninsula, overlooking the lake for centuries. Drive to mountainous resort Dilijan, or so called “Armenian Switzerland”, which is well-known for its forests, as well as for its mysterious flora and fauna. Small walking city tour in Dilijan with a visit to handicrafts’ street, where one can watch the preparation of different national souvenirs from wood, stone and ceramics. A visit to Haghartsin Monastery complex, located in a secluded place of a forest. Appearing unexpectedly in front of the visitors, out of the dense forests, the Monastery creates a magical impression of a lost world. After a visit to the monastery in 2005, His Royal Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi made a generous donation for certain renovation works and preservation of this monastery, representing the rich history of the human kind. Complex includes Church St. Stepanos, St. Mary and St. Gregory’s Church, as well as a famous refectory. Drive back to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 4: Yerevan – Carpet Factory – Garni – Geghard – Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you can visit Armenian carpet factory with the possibilityto watch the production of the handmade rugs. The factory has a showroom where purchases are offered (shipping of rugs to your country is possible). Visit the only remaining Pagan temple in Armenia, devoted to the God of Sun – Myrth, in Garni. Photo stop at Charentc Arc. A visit to the ruins of Royal Palace and Royal bath-house nearby. Optional: Family hosted lunch in a private village house, with watching the preparation of “Lavash” (Armenian traditional flat bread baked in stone-make oven) by countryside Armenian ladies using the same ancient technology as hundreds of years before. Continue the tour to the uniquely caved Geghard monastery, which dates back to 12th-13th centuries, the name of which means “holy spear” in the honour of the long-preserved spear, the same spear that pierced the body of crucified Christ, which were brought here by Apostle Thaddeus. Drive back to Yerevan , transfer to the airport of Yerevan

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: arrival. meet and greet. transfer to hotel. check in.

Arrival in Yerevan. Meet and greet with our English Speaking representative and transfer to hotel. Check-in. Overnight in a hotel in Yerevan.

DAY 2: YEREVAN, ANCIENT CITY AND THE CAPITAL OF ARMENIA

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we will start our walking discovery of the Yerevan city. Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia is a lively metropolis with an ancient history dating back to 782 BC. Yerevan is located in a valley surrounded by hills. At the south-west part it overlooks the Ararat plain dominated by Mount Ararat covered with perennial snows. Yerevan Panoramic City tour by visiting the main monuments of Yerevan: Republic Square, Opera Square with Swan Lake, the Northern Avenue, Abovyan street with the “Armenian Belle Epoque” buildings, Cascade complex, a grand staircase with terraced gardens. Enjoy the panoramic views of the city from the top. We continue our discovery with walk in the Vernissage, the arts and crafts market where you can not only admire the works of different craftsmen, including stone and wooden crosses, handmade cloth dolls, ceramic plates and glasses and other local handicrafts, but also attend the display of silver and gold jewels, Armenian rugs, embroidery, books, paintings of Armenian painters. The rest of the day you could spend exploring the city at your leisure. You can visit museums, enjoy shopping, or try local cuisine. Overnight in hotel in Yerevan.

DAY 3: CONTRAST OF LANDSCAPES WITH GARNI TEMPLE AND GEGHARD CAVE MONASTERY (UNESCO)

Breakfast at the hotel. This day we are heading towards the village of Garni. On the way to Garni, there is an unremarkable arch. The arch is dedicated to the famous Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents, who loved and admired the beauty of Mount Ararat. The place was chosen accurately: from the arch, you will have the best view of Mount Ararat. Then we will continue to discover one of the wonders of the Hellenistic era, the fortress and the temple of Garni which is situated on the top of a well-protected triangular promontory, erected in 77 AD. We continue to visit the 13th century Ghegardavank the only rock-carved monastery in Armenia. The name derives from the relic, of a fragment of the spear with which the side of Christ was pierced on the cross. After a full day of exploration return to Yerevan and stop in the Victory Park with the statue of “Mother Armenia” from where amazing view on all the city of Yerevan. The Park is very large and includes an artificial lake, an amusement park with various merry-go-rounds, outdoor cafes and restaurants, the Mother Armenia Monument and the Mother Armenia Museum. Afterwards free time in the dried fruit and spices market, a world where you can get intoxicated with the magic of colors and perfumes. Overnight in Yerevan.

DAY 4: TSAGHKADZOR, LAKE SEVAN-PEARL OF ARMENIA AND DILIJAN NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast transfer to Lake Sevan, the Pearl of Armenia and also one of the largest high altitude lakes in the world. We will visit the peninsula of Sevan from where there is also a beautiful panorama of the lake. The lake Sevan is famous also for its endemic fish type – Sevan trout, Salmo Ishkhan. We will continue our journey towards the town Diligian, the “Armenian Switzerland” and will visit the Sharabeyan street, the street of the craftsmen of the city. This charming town is known for its beautiful nature and traditional architecture. Among the monasteries in various styles that stand out here, built between the 10th and 13th centuries, we will visit Haghartsin monastery. It is hidden in an enchanting valley cloaked in forests. We will continue towards the ski resort of Tsaghkadzor and going up the Teghenis mountain with a cable car from where a beautiful panorama opens up over the whole town of Tsaghkadzor.

Day 5: DEPARTURE

After breakfast transfer to the airport. Check-in and departure.

After some rest city tour around Yerevan the history of which goes back to 8th c. The sightseeing tour includes visit to Republic Square- located in the very center of Yerevan and is considered one of the most amazing and famous attractions of the capital. This area is formed by five famous buildings: The National Art Gallery and History Museum of Armenia, which contains about 400,000 exhibits covering the entire history of the Armenian people from primitive society to modern times. The Government House of the Republic of Armenia, The Central post office, The “Mariott Armenia” hotel, The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. The famous singing fountains are also situated on the Republic Square right next to the History Museum and Art Gallery. This is the favorite place of locals and tourists.

Then you will walk to modern part of city - Northern Avenue, Opera House with Swam Lake, Cascade Monument which is considered to be the center of art of the city as here you can find unique sculptures. In the evenings the place is becoming more charming with all its lights and people from all over the world. Visit Vernissage flea market which offer many kinds of national souvenirs, jewelry and many traditional items.

On the way to Garni stop at the Arch of Charents - a favorite place of tourists, from where opens a stunning view of Mount Ararat and Yerevan. The arch is named after the great Armenian poet Egishe Charents, who loved to come to this place and enjoy the beauty of Armenian land. You can also enjoy that beauty and take a photo for memory about your wonderful trip to Armenia.

Departure to Garni Pagan Temple from 1st c. The temple was built by Armenia King Tiridates and was dedicated to the God of Sun Mithra. Garni is the only Hellenistic temple existing nowadays in Armenia. The stairs of the temple are made huge and high which means that every human being climbing up the stairs is condescending to God of Sun. If the weather will good, visit the Symphony of Stones or “Basalt Organ”. This is a natural monument located in the basin of the Azat River, in the area of Garni village. It is included in the list of natural monuments of Armenia. The monument consists of huge symmetric hexagon and pentagon basalt columns (nearly 50 meters high), which seem to be handmade due to their amazing symmetry.

Continue our journey to Geghard Monastery (13th c.) – a monastery which is hewn out from a cave. The monastery had been originally named Ayrivank meaning "the Monastery of the Cave". The name commonly used for the monastery today, Geghard, or more fully Geghardavank meaning "the Monastery of the Spear". The monastery is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
