November 11, 2022 – YOSHIKI, HYDE, SUGIZO and MIYAVI , four major forces from Japan’s rock scene, announce their new star-studded band THE LAST ROCKSTARS .   2 song teaser videos have been released today, one for “THE LAST ROCKSTARS (Lyrics by YOSHIKI, Composed by YOSHIKI)” and the other for “PSYCHO LOVE (Lyrics by YOSHIKI / HYDE, Composed by HYDE)”. It was announced that these 2 songs are slated to be released very soon. The band will unleash their debut live performances on January 26 th & 27 th at Ariake Arena and January 29 th & 30 th at Tokyo Garden Theatre, with presale beginning today at 12:30PM JST. U.S. shows on February 3 rd and 4 th at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York and February 10 th at Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles go on sale today at 7AM PST/10AM EST. YOSHIKI has several monumental accomplishments under his belt both as the leader of X JAPAN and as an accomplished solo artist. He has been named “one of the most influential musicians and composers in Japanese history” by Consequence of Sound and has composed Hollywood film soundtracks, a concerto for the Emperor of Japan, and the official theme song for the Golden Globe Awards. He has performed at the world’s greatest stages including Madison Square Garden, Wembley Arena, Coachella Music Festival, and Carnegie Hall. In addition to his music, YOSHIKI has been internationally recognized for his philanthropy, and was awarded a Medal of Honor by the Japanese government. HYDE is internationally recognized as the vocalist for L’arc-en-Ciel, VAMPS, and as a successful solo artist. L’Arc-en-Ciel has sold over 40 million albums worldwide, headlined Madison Square Garden, and were also the first rock band to headline Japan National Stadium. HYDE has also had great success touring internationally as a solo artist. ‍ SUGIZO has worked and performed globally as a member of LUNA SEA, XJAPAN, and U.K.’s JUNO REACTOR, a group credited with creating psychedelic trance. As a solo artist he has been pursuing his unique style of electronic music while creating for multiple movie and theater soundtracks. ‍ MIYAVI “The Samurai Guitarist” has enthralled the world with his transcendent unconventional “slap style” of playing his guitar, which has taken him around the world 9 times to tour in over 30 countries. In 2014 he made his debut as a Hollywood actor in Unbroken . He was the first Japanese public figure to be featured in GUCCI’s global campaign, and has been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNCHR, providing support for refugees.     With their illustrious experience in Japan’s most influential rock bands, remarkable sales records individually, and hit collaborations with global artists, these four musicians coming together is a monumental occurrence. Twenty Years of Rocking Out With "Samurai Guitarist" MIYAVI

We discuss his current tour schedule, tattoos, his role in ‘arcane,’ and the importance of playing guitar..

MIYAVI has seen and done it all with his guitar. From busking in Venice Beach in his 20s to selling out stadiums across the globe, MIYAVI is not only one of the most recognized guitarists in the world — known for his signature finger-slapping style of play — but has been a pioneer in showcasing what the East has to offer to the West in terms of live music. Long before the wave of K-pop put Korea on the map for entertainment, MIYAVI set out in bringing his Japanese-infused style to the world with his exciting energy, long hair, amazing guitar skills, and his Kanji-covered body.

With over 300 shows and 15 studio albums under his belt, MIYAVI expands past just music and into other art forms like dance and film. On top of appearing in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil , Stray , and the Angelina Jolie-directed film Unbroken , he’s also offered up his voice to Bright: Samurai Soul and the highly celebrated animated series Arcane . Outside of acting and music, he’s the face of GUCCI Japan, he’s walked the runway for Y3, and even has his own line of sake with Kyoto’s oldest brewery. Adding to his list of endeavors, MIYAVI entered the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) where he was appointed an official Goodwill Ambassador in 2017 — joining the ranks of individuals like Ben Stiller, Alphonso Davies, Cate Blanchett, and Neil Gaiman.

Their live debut world tour in 2023 included sold-out concerts in Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles. The band's second single "Psycho Love" was released on August 4, 2023.

MIYAVI's North American Tour Planned for October

Transfers to Purple One Star Label in 20th Anniversary Year! First New Single Under New Label “Futurism” Released in June! “Futurism” Featured in DELL XPS Global Advertising Campaign!

As MIYAVI prepares for the 20th anniversary of his debut this October, it has been announced that he will transfer his record company to Purple One Star , a label operated by Bandai Namco Music Live a division of gaming conglomerate Bandai Namco .

“ Futurism ,” his first single under this new label, was released digitally on June 17. “Futurism" is full of MIYAVI 's signature heavy guitar sound and dynamism, with lyrics that touch on the artist's futuristic view of the world.

The track is also featured in a new commercial for "Expand Your Youniverse," a global advertising campaign for DELL Technologies " DELL XPS" series of notebook computers. The campaign is based on the theme of "Expanding Your Youniverse through Technology," and DELL has collaborated with a variety of creators, including filmmaker Yara Shahidi, and the new commercial featuring MIYAVI himself is scheduled to roll out in more than eight countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan, from June 20, 2022.

In addition, MIYAVI will be embarking on a huge North American “Futurism” Tour in October this year.

Last year, in October 2021, he became the first Asian artist to complete a 20-show tour since the COVID-19 pandemic began. This year's tour will run from October 5 to November 7 and feature performances at 19 venues.

MIYAVI Profile

MIYAVI has gained worldwide attention as a guitarist for his unconventional “slap guitar” style, in which he plays the electric guitar with his fingers instead of a pick. He's performed more than 380 live shows in 30 some countries, and has 8 successful world tours under his belt. Other accomplishments include arranging the Japanese version of the theme song for the blockbuster film Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, producing music for a Honda commercial, creating music for SMAP , and working with various other artists. In September 2021, he released the album Imaginary and successfully completed a 20- show North American tour, a 5-show Japan tour, and a 2-show Hawaii tour.

In addition to his musical activities, he is also active as an actor and a model. In 2017, he became the first Japanese to be appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). As the “Samurai Guitarist,” he is constantly taking on new challenges and is one of the most promising Japanese artists active on the international stage.

It was one of the best show I have seen in my life. And able to see such a electrifying and talented true " rock star up close and personal was incredible! Band before him was good as well slot machine. I recommend even if he isnt your style of music open your minds and see him.. He will not dispoint.. I drove almost 6 hours from florida to see him it was worth it and so much more thank you Miyavi..

Always an energetic artist full of life and love. The venue was absolutely amazing and gave for an intimate concert I'll never forget! The opening bands were great, the area was uplifting, bars were a bit expensive but for the amount of alcohol in them? Worth it. I'm watching out for shows at Variety again, but Miyavi was one on my list of must-sees and exceeded my expectations. Thank you Miyavi!~

The show was amazing! Loved every moment of it. Miyavi was very entertaining, energetic, and had great crowd involvement which I loved. I loved seeing how passionate he is as a musician in person! I've been a huge fan for a long time and seeing him for the first time was definately worth it!

Miyavi was amazing. He is such a genuine person. Real talent and love for people and music. His performance was beyond incredible. I have waited half of my life to see this man, and he did not disappoint. I was so thrilled he came to Philadelphia to perform!! Long live Miyavi^^~
