Talon Esports Jabz at the Berlin Major

Updated on June 6, 12:27 a.m. (GMT+8):  Updated results.

As the DPC SEA 2023 Tour 3 Division 1 approaches, Southeast Asian teams are eagerly gearing up for the ultimate showdown.

This last Regional League tournament of the season will be pivotal for many teams as they fight to secure a coveted spot in the Bali Major.

One of the top contenders in the league is Talon Esports, who recently placed 7th-8th at the Berlin Major. Execration and Team SMG are also determined to make a comeback after finishing 15th-16th in Germany.

Adding to the excitement, Blacklist International has recruited SEA veteran Damien “kpii” Chok to their roster, hoping to turn their season around. Army Geniuses and Bleed Esports managed to retain their Division 1 spots from the previous Tour and remain in the running.

Meanwhile, BOOM Esports and XERXIA, the two Division 2 teams that advanced from Tour 2 , will compete alongside the top eight teams in the final DPC SEA Regional League of the year.

DPC 2023 SEA Summer Tour Division I - presented by Epulze Premium League

Here’s What to Watch Out for in the DPC 2023 SEA Summer Tour

Boom Esports getting ready for the DPC summer tour

The third and final leg of the DPC 2023 SEA Summer Tour kicks off with teams making the final push to The International.

The first week of the DPC 2023 SEA summer tour is underway.

The six competing teams will only have three weeks left to place high on the standings and earn as many points as they can to qualify for The International taking place in Seattle later this October.

Are we ready to rock? #DPCSEA #EPULZE #EBN pic.twitter.com/mXA9OLec3p — EPULZE (@EPULZEgaming) May 14, 2023

Newcomers Boom Esports and Xerxia replace Geek Slate and Polaris Esports and are looking to make a mark with what little time they have left in the season. With both teams coming in with zero DPC points, they’ll have to try their luck in the regional qualifiers taking place right before The International.

SEA teams DPC points:

  • Talon Esports – 1020
  • Execration – 540
  • Team SMG – 117
  • Army Geniuses – 80
  • Blacklist International – 80
  • Boom Esports – 0
  • Xerxia – 0

Among the SEA teams, Talon Esports and Execration are within the top 12 but they are by no means secured. Team SMG, Army Geniuses, and Blacklist International are lagging behind at 22nd and 24th, respectively.

All teams will need to push hard to get their tickets to Seattle with Team SMG taking the most extreme step. Marvin “Boomy” Rushton, Kam “Moon” Boon Seng, and Wilson “poloson” Koh are out, and in are Lee “CDR” Jia He, Natthaphon “Masaros” Ouanphakdee, and Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla.

This roster change hurts Team SMG in terms of DPC points but puts team captain Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng back in the mid-lane. Time will tell if this last-minute shake-up is worth it.

In a stunning turn of events, the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Southeast Asia (SEA) 2023 Summer Tour Open Qualifiers have been marred by the disqualification of two prominent teams, Team Ancient and Dino Esports. Epulze, the tournament organizer, took to Twitter to make the official announcement, revealing that the disqualifications were due to account-sharing violations. This shocking revelation has surprised the Dota 2 community, casting a shadow over the fair play standards and underscoring the need for stringent measures to maintain the integrity of competitive esports.

Breach of Fair Play: Account Sharing Leads to Disqualifications

Epulze's recent Twitter announcement surprised the Dota 2 community as it revealed that Team Ancient and Dino Esports have been disqualified from the DPC 2023 SEA Summer Tour Open Qualifiers. While more information has not been shared regarding the ban, Epulze has also taken decisive action by imposing lifetime and indefinite bans on several players involved in the misconduct. These individuals will no longer be allowed to participate in any Epulze tournaments. Furthermore, the remaining teammates of the disqualified teams have been banned until further notice, pending a more extensive investigation to determine their level of involvement.

The disqualifications of Team Ancient and Dino Esports serve as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding fair play and the consequences that await those who engage in cheating practices. Epulze's decision to take strict action against these teams reflects the commitment to maintaining the integrity of the DPC 2023 SEA Summer Tour and sends a clear message that violations will not be tolerated.

This case of account sharing happened just two months after Valve imposed bans on forty-six Dota 2 professionals in China and Southeast Asia , involving prominent players from well-known teams such as EHOME and Knights. In a separate occurrence, Valve had banned ten players from the Eastern European (EEU) region , including Kamil " Koma `" Biktimirov who used to play for Virtus.Pro. These consecutive incidents underscore the industry's ongoing efforts to address issues related to fair play and integrity in competitive Dota 2.
