I've tried 3 times to get through to their office and they're always away from the office. I anxious because I sent in payment for a trip on 4/10, but check has not been cashed and I want to know whats wrong?

This Travel Agency is one of the most professional agencies that I have worked with. They listened to my concerns and saw that all my needs were met. I have gone on several of the day tours that they host and what a great time. All the passengers on the bus had a great time and the hostess was excellent. I cant wait to use them again. My husband and I plan on going to Italy in the near future and they will be my travel agency.

My husband and I have been traveling with SilverLining Travel for over eight years and have taken 30 + day trips and approximately six multi-day trips. It never occurred to me that SilverLining Travel was on Yelp, and so we never reviewed them. We have only superlative comments on the fantastic trips that we have taken throughout the years. It's hard to know where to start. The hostesses do a wonderful job of getting us from point A to point B. Julia, at the home office, does a fabulous job keeping everyone informed as to pick up times and pick up locations, which is extremely important as they pick up passengers in Banning, Hemet and Menifee. The buses are incredibly clean and the drivers are friendly and always assist us in boarding and leaving the bus. SilverLining Travel gives excellent value for the money. Please check out their website to see all of their wonderful and numerous trips that they offer each and every month.

i retired a little bit out of the metropolitain LA area and found Silver Lining online from a friend who likes to keep busy and she told me she just got back from touring John Wayne's yacht...ok.. so that was a little random...? so silver lining...i called and had no idea why i was calling a travel company actually but what the heck. The owner is this gentleman Jerry , we got to talking and he is hilarious. turns out he was from out east in PA near where i was from. But what got me is he was really a hoot to talk to, and he knew the most random corners of California. i was dating this gal at the time and we signed up to to go the Gene Autrey museum on a day trip. wasnt sure how exciting that was going to be, but we went to the griffith observatory after- i guess i forgot that this was part of the trip.. anyway after long adventuresome day, and casual dinner that was part of the package, i was exhausted, made a few great new friends, and really had a wonderful time. thank you silver lining, and i am looking forward to our next adventure next year!

This location is permanently closed. Their new location is in Menifee CA. I found them to be very unprofessional. I made a reservations and they sent me a confirmations that did not include any contact information, no phone, no address, no email, and no web site. It did have the trip dates, but did not even have a bus pick up location. It simply said Hemet. I had to argue to get a refund, even for the events that their cancellation policy allowed cancellation with a $10.00 charge. I can't even find any reference online to their Menifee location. I think that any business that has no reviews is very suspicious. I'm retired and I felt that this had trouble written all over it.

Hi Roland, it's Jerry Hagan the owner of Silver Lining Travel. I just wanted to follow up on your comment. Yes, after 22 years at our old location, we did move to a new office in Menifee, CA. I wanted to follow up on your comments. First, we are a respected, professional travel office and we won the "Best Travel Agency" in the Press Enterprise newspaper for 5 years in a row. Regarding your travel plans, you are incorrect. Our office info is on all receipts, all brochures and on our website. As for your refund, we've checked our records and you cancelled your tour trips after the cut off date for our cancellation policy (which is located on all receipts, brochures and on the web site). Legally, we did not have to offer you a refund but in fact we did. As for your comment about limited reviews on Yelp, most of our clients are seniors and they don't do Yelp. Many of our clients have traveled with us for years thus earning the title of "Best Travel Agency" five years running in the Press Enterprise. I appreciate your time.

12 In-Demand Travel Jobs: Make Money While Traveling the World

Dallas rooftop restaurants

Do you wish you could travel the world but need the income from your job to support your adventures?

One of the silver linings of the pandemic is the emphasis on remote work – and it appears to be sticking. A recent Gallup poll showed that 45% of workers are at least partially remote. That number jumps to 67% for white-collar office jobs.

While that’s great news for many people, some types of work lend themselves more to travel jobs than others. For example, even if you work remotely now, you may be tied to set work hours or need a particular workstation setup; you can’t just throw a laptop in a backpack and hit the road.

Here is a list of the 12 best travel jobs for those looking to jet-set worldwide.

Table of Contents

What Defines a Good Travel Job?

When you picture the ideal travel job, what comes to mind? Is it sitting in a coffee shop in Italy with your laptop or lying on the beach with just a cell phone in hand? Maybe it involves working in the local community to get a more authentic experience of the day-to-day life of those around you.

The definition of the perfect travel job doesn’t have a right or wrong answer. It ultimately comes down to your preferences and skills. Having a flexible schedule can be a plus. Learning a skill that translates to working from anywhere globally is helpful.

Some people may want to find a job they can do in the evenings to enjoy sightseeing during the day. Others may want a more hands-on job to live like a local.

No matter your preferences for travel jobs, this list should give you some ideas to jump-start your search.

1. Virtual Assistant

A virtual assistant may be the quintessential digital nomad job. In this role, you could offer a broad range of services, such as:

  • Virtual bookkeeping
  • Social media management
  • Customer service
  • Email and calendar management
  • Graphic design
  • and many more

As a virtual assistant, you control what you do and when. The more specialized your skillset, the more money you can make. For example, you can earn $20-30 per hour for administrative tasks. Or you can make $100 an hour or more as a high-end web designer.

2. Travel Blogger

If you love to travel, why not make it your job to document your experiences and share them with others? For example, as a travel blogger, you could research the best places to visit in a particular city or country and share your tips as you travel .

While many bloggers make it look easy, it takes a lot of work to establish a profitable blog. You could eventually make six figures a year or more. But be prepared to spend at least six to twelve months building your blog before making any substantial income.

You don’t have to stick to just travel if you have other interests. Whether your blog is about parenting, personal finance , food, or touches on multiple niches, blogging offers a highly flexible schedule with limitless earning potential.

3. Remote Work (in Your Current Profession)

Remote work is trending across many careers that used to be entirely in-person. While you have a better chance of working remotely as a financial analyst than a plumber, if you’re in the right field, you can quickly turn your work-from-home job into a work-from-anywhere job.

If you’re considering traveling the globe in your current role, consider how you can best make it work. For example, working hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm in the U.S. could make for some late nights in Spain. Some positions have more flexible hours, but it never hurts to ask if there’s any flexibility regardless of the stated company policy.

You’d be surprised what companies are willing to negotiate to keep a good employee.

4. Bartender

Are you looking for something a little more hands-on and local? If you plan to travel the world but stay in one place for at least a few months, bartending could be a good option.

Bartending skills are essentially the same across the world, so you could find a job in almost any town. This travel job would also allow you to get plugged into the local culture.

5. English Teacher

Do you not think you have any skills that would allow you to work abroad? Think again. If you speak English, there are many opportunities to teach worldwide. You could become an English teacher in a local school or even teach exclusively online through a platform like VIP Kid.

Most online platforms require you to have a bachelor’s degree. In some cases, you may also need a TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). You can make around $20 per hour teaching online. Teaching at a school often includes free room and board.

6. Freelance Writer

Do you like writing but don’t want to deal with the unknowns of growing a blog? Becoming a freelance writer could be the perfect travel job. As a freelancer, you can choose to work when you want. All you need is a laptop and an internet connection.

Most writers choose a niche such as entertainment, politics, travel, food, etc. Once you gain a reputation, you can earn $0.10 per word or more ($100 for a 1,000-word article) writing for websites, magazines, or newspapers. You can make $1,000 a month if you write just ten articles.

You can make significantly more if you specialize even further in copywriting or creating sales and marketing content designed to generate leads.

7. Travel Photographer

Becoming a freelance photographer could be a great travel job if you have an eye for the perfect photo. As a travel photographer, you could sell images of your adventures to stock photo sites or to clients directly.

Another way to use beautiful pictures to make a living is by building an audience on a social media platform and getting paid for influencer marketing and special projects. It’s not an easy field to break into, but it could be a lucrative side job during your worldwide travels once you’ve made some connections.

8. Cruise Ship Worker

What better way to travel abroad than on a cruise ship? Get paid to sail to exotic locales as a worker on a cruise ship. Many different positions are available, such as servers, housekeeping, tour guides, and more.

Working on a cruise ship has other benefits as well. Your food, housing, and transportation are all paid for, and most jobs provide one to two months off in between contracts to do some traveling of your own.

9. Flight Attendant

If you love the thrill of experiencing new cities and cultures and staying in a new place every night, becoming a flight attendant could be the perfect opportunity. The profession has a median income of $80,000 and tons of travel perks like free hotels and discounted flights. A career as a flight attendant can be a great way to travel in style.

However, there are some downsides. You will work long hours, and you are often not in control of your destinations. On the plus side, most flight attendants get at least two weeks off per month, which gives you plenty of time to do your own vacationing.

10. Travel Agent

Do you love planning your trip as much as going on the trip itself? As a travel agent, you can help other people who don’t want to deal with all the logistics of vacation planning.

Travel agents organize hotels, transportation, and trip itineraries full of activities. Many destinations offer free trips to travel agents in order to help promote the location. This allows travel agents to get acquainted with the amenities and activities they offer so they can, in turn, recommend the destination to clients. It can be a great way to travel for free!

With the rise of online booking platforms, many people think of travel agents as a dying breed. But the industry is revitalizing itself by creating custom trips and done-for-you packages that travel agents offer customers. This is perfect for travelers weary of trip planning and for those who may find joy in a travel agent job.

11. Travel Nurse

Nursing is an excellent career with limitless prospects. It’s an in-demand job that exists in every city, state, and country. To become a registered nurse, you need at least a two-year associate’s degree. Many hospitals and clinics require a four-year bachelor’s degree.

You could easily move every few years and find a nursing job in a new city but you may want even more flexibility if the travel bug has bitten you. As a travel nurse, you sign-up for temporary nursing jobs in high-need areas. Travel nurses tend to be compensated very well and often get company-paid housing.

At the end of your contract, you can move on to a new location or take some time off to travel in between gigs.

Travel Jobs: The Final Word

There are many ways to make money while traveling the world. In an increasingly digital economy, more and more opportunities for remote work are becoming available. Finding your dream travel job may take some time, training, and creativity, but there are plenty of examples of people who have made it happen. Why wait for retirement to travel the world when you can take your job with you anywhere you want to go?

Philadelphia Eagles Announce Major Shakeup on Defense

Matt Lombardo

Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio confirmed a major change is coming along the front-seven ahead of Monday night’s Week 2 clash against the Atlanta Falcons.

Philadelphia Eagles (Photo Credits: Mitchell Leff/Getty Images)

Following a strong performance in Week 1, Nakobe Dean has been named the Eagles’ starting middle linebacker, seemingly officially supplanting free agent signing Devin White in the key role.

“I just think from the start of camp to the end, he won the job,” Fangio told reporters, when asked whether Dean would remain the starter, even if White returns from an injury.

Philadelphia Eagles, Nakobe Dean

Dean finished with four tackles in the Eagles’ 34-29 Week 1 victory over the Packers in Brazil, and along with veteran Zack Baun seemed to provide a significant upgrade in Philadelphia’s linebacking corps.

The Eagles had previously hoped that White would provide some veteran stability and big-game experience to one of the weakest position groups on the defense in recent years, but that hasn’t materialized either this summer or now two weeks into the regular season.

White has fallen so far out of favor, that reports surfaced ahead of the Eagles’ opener that the team had been shopping him ahead of final roster cuts last month .

Dean, chosen by the Eagles in the third-round of the 2022 NFL Draft, out of Georgia, seems to be developing into the caliber of player that Fangio can rely on as a steady playmaker in the middle of the defense.

Through his first three NFL seasons, Dean has produced 47 total tackles with half a sack, but seems to have found a rhythm in Fangio’s scheme and could be primed to become a key component in the Eagles’ defense.

History of Saratov Oblast

In the middle of the 13th century, prisoners captured by the Mongols from various conquered countries built in the area of present Saratov one of the first and largest towns of the Golden Horde - Uvek. Marco Polo mentioned the Venetians visiting this town in 1262.

In 1334, the Arab traveler Ibn Battuta visited Uvek and recorded that it was a town of “medium size, but beautifully built, with abundant blessings and severe cold”. At the end of the 14th century, the town was destroyed by Tamerlane.

In the next 200 years, a sparse population of the Wild Fields (the steppe to the north of the Black Sea and Azov Sea) was represented by the Nogai and Kalmyk nomads, Cossacks and fishing cooperatives of Russian monasteries. In the meantime, after the collapse of the Golden Horde, the Kazan Khanate was formed on the territory of the Kazan ulus, which, in 1552, was conquered by the Russian Tsar Ivan IV.

The fortress of Saratov was founded in the summer of 1590. In the first half of the 17th century, Saratov was a large fortress on the Volga River with about 300-400 streltsy (Russian guardsmen from the 16th to the early 18th centuries).

More historical facts…

In the spring of 1674, the fortress was moved to the opposite bank of the river. The locals were engaged in fishing, bread and salt trading. In June 1722, Peter I visited Saratov on his way to Persia.

In January 1780, the Saratov governorate (province) was established. In 1781, the coat of arms of Saratov was adopted: on the blue background of a heraldic shield you can see 3 silver fish (sterlet) swimming towards each other. Fish and water resources of the region were reflected in the coat of arms. Saratov became a rich merchant city.

In 1928-1932, Saratov was the center of Nizhnevolzhsky Krai, since 1934 - Saratov Krai, since 1936 - Saratov Oblast. In the 1930s, Saratov became one of the industrial centers of the country. On September 7, 1941, the territories of 15 cantons of the former Volga Germans Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic were united with Saratov Oblast. The current borders of the region were finalized in 1957.

In the 1950s-1970s, industry and agriculture, infrastructure and culture of the city and the region were developing rapidly. Until 1990, Saratov was a closed city, because there were many defense enterprises there, in particular, the Saratov Aircraft Plant, which produced military and civil aircraft. A lot of industrial enterprises of Saratov carried out orders for the Soviet space program.

Saratov Oblast was the center of Volga German culture, Germans who resettled in Russia in the 17th century enticed by offers of farmland, until World War II, when Stalin deported the Germans en masse to Siberia and Kazakhstan. Today, Saratov Oblast is a big center of industry along the Volga River.

Overnight trains from Moscow to Saratov take about 16 hours and are very affordable. Flights cost about twice as much (although they are still very reasonable) and will get you there in an hour and a half.
