This tour will show you how diverse and exciting Barcelona is, all while you soak up the history and culture.   We will start with a sightseeing tour from the bus that will take you up the elegant Passeig de Gràcia, where you will see the most famous Gaudi houses, casa Batlló and La Casa Mila (La Pedrera) as well as other majestic buildings of the Modernism era. Next, we will take you to the sea. Here you will see firsthand the intense infrastructural changes the city underwent in organising and facilitating the Olympic Games in 1992.   You will drive by the Arc of the Triomf, Ciutadella Park, the Olympic Village, and the Olympic Port. These are all beautiful and fascinating sites that are packed with historical significance.   Included in this drive is also the fisherman’s quarter, called Barceloneta. This charming neighborhood is nestled next to the sea and has its own unique vibe. 

A short drive from Barceloneta is the Port Vell, Plaza (square) de Colon with its famous Columbus monument, indicating which way he sailed to discover the Americas.   The monument is also the beginning of the famous Ramblas of Barcelona. This visit continues with a drive up Montjuic Mountain, where we will make a short stop in Olympic Stadium Lluis Companys.   The climb continues up to Montjuic Castle, where you will enjoy a cable car ride offering panoramic views of the city.    The bus will pick you up at the last station and we will continue our Montjuic visit passing by the sports facilities built for the 1992 Olympic Games: the Lluis Companys stadium, the Palau Sant Jordi, the Olympic swimming pool Picornell until we get to the Spanish Village.   We will visit this charming place where you will admire a collection of traditional buildings from all over Spain and a demonstration of the handcrafts made in this country.   After the visit to the Spanish village, we have completed the tour of Montjuic Mountain; it is time to head over to the city center.    As in all travels through Barcelona, the drive back to the city center provides stunning views of landmarks and architecture. Admire the Venetian Towers, the Montjuic fountains, the MNAC, and the CC, “Las Arenas” rebuilt over the ancient “Plaza de Toros” (bullrings).   Our destination is Plaza de Cataluña, the starting point of the guided walking tour of the old city center.   An experienced professional guide will take you to the Ramblas, Cathedral Square, through the narrow street of the Gothic quarter, and to Plaza Sant Jaume where the City Hall is located as well as the headquarters of the Catalonian government.

Our tour finishes at the Plaza de Cataluña, in front of the Hard Rock Café (where you will have lunch if this option is chosen). This location is ten minutes from our office on foot. After a delectable and mouth-watering lunch, check in at Balmes 5 at 15:15. The second part of the tour will start at 15:30.

As you look past the Columbus Statue, you will see the beginning of Las Ramblas, a famous street in Barcelona. 

We will continue the visit as we climb up Montjuic where we will make a short stop in Olympic Stadium Lluis Companys. After observing the stadium, we will admire the Montjuic Castle. Get ready to glide in a cable car on the way down as you gaze out at the panoramic views.

The bus will pick you up at the last station and we will continue our Montjuic visit passing by the sports facilities built for the 1992 Olympic Games: the Lluis Companys stadium, the Palau Sant Jordi, and the Olympic swimming pool Picornell.

After our thorough and fascinating visit to Montjuic, we will make our way back to the city center. During the drive back to the city, admire the Venetian Towers, the Montjuic fountains, the MNAC, and the CC, “Las Arenas” rebuilt over the ancient “Plaza de Toros” (bullrings).

The rocks of Montserrat were formed by natural cement of sand during the centuries. The wind and rain shaped the mountain with strange and varied forms.

This trip to Montserrat will allow you to enjoy the wonderful and breathtaking views of Montserrat Mountain, one of nature’s special creations amongst tranquility and beauty.

You will go up to Montserrat with the Cog-Wheel Train. This will drop you in the middle of the Monastery. It is a 15-minute trip with a privileged and spectacular view of the mountain. 

The train has panoramic windows, making the actual journey a delight for the senses. The train is air-conditioned as well as wheelchair-friendly.

You will visit the Royal Basilica of Montserrat, which holds the famous 12th-century Romanesque carving of Verge Moreneta (the Black Madonna). This famous statue of the Black Madonna is visible from a distance. 

The Benedict Sanctuary of Montserrat was founded in 1025 and provides a mystical backdrop for the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, who is enshrined in the monastery’s Royal Basilica.

The little monastery soon began to receive pilgrims and visitors who spread the word of the miracles and wonders performed by the Virgin. Word of mouth led to more and more pilgrims visiting Montserrat.

Today, Montserrat has been modernized to continue attending to the needs of pilgrims, one thousand years after it was originally founded.

You will be given free time to visit the audiovisual exhibition about the history and creation of Montserrat and taste typical liquors of Montserrat, handmade by the monks of the monastery (both activities are included).

While Barcelona has a warm, balmy climate it is still adjacent to the sea, which means weather can sometimes be unpredictable. When it does rain, it rains in full tropical style. Although it is unlikely, we recommend having a layer or two just in case. If it is the summer, you have much less to worry about. 

If you are doing a tour that includes Montserrat Mountain, definitely bring layers regardless of the season. The weather on the mountain tends to change swiftly. 

Wear sunscreen! The sun in Barcelona is strong. Even if you are enjoying a lovely sea breeze, the sun can still burn your skin. It is best to be cautious and not battle a painful sunburn!

Wear comfortable shoes. Barcelona is an old city full of charming cobblestone streets and lovely historic districts. Comfortable shoes are essential for the walking tours offered on this list. On the Montserrat tour, you will be walking on a mountain. Sneakers are a great choice.

You will be picked up with your luggage and it will be stored safely in the vehicle while you explore. This small-group tour covers all of the main highlights of the city in only half a day. In Barcelona, certain hotels and apartments are located in areas where there is a shortage of road access which makes it difficult for guests to be picked up from the accommodation or taken home. In such a case, you may need to walk to the nearest pickup/drop off location place where you will be able to take or call a taxi. Contact the tour operator after making your reservation, especially if you have bags with you, to check whether they can pick you up or drop you off directly from where you are staying. In regards to luggage, we normally allow a single large suitcase and one carryon bag for each guest.
